Warhawk 4 player ground assault madness!

We open today's plethora of posts with a fantastic video of the upcoming online-only-maybe-not-but-downloadable-yet-on-bluray-disc-at-the-same-time-what-the-hell game, WarHawk. This video shows some online ground-based gameplay, which is undoubtedly awesome. There are clearly tanks (which seem to clean up the competition), jeeps that seem fairly unreliable, and infantry... which are pretty cool, but not too practical. One guy tries to hide from a tank by crouching on the other side of a hill... but the tank just rolls him over. Nice try, buddy.

I think this game will be sweet I just want to know if you can play offline with your friends or is it only a online game.

you must be one crazy motherfucker to go on foot, and of course jeeps seems unreliable thats because you always get a complete moron in the driver seat...

Huge multiplayer+CTF+infantry,ground and air vehicles is a recipe for success. If you need proof, just look for the game that starts with T and ends with RIBES2.

The first point is true of course, but "no one" is a bit harsh, it still sold 30,000 units (in the UK alone) which is quite a lot by anyones standard.
Warhawk looks flapping good by the way.

the terrain seems kind of bland. reminds me of Halo 1 multiplayer quiet a bit, any idea how many players does this support ?

IGN had very good coverage of this game a few weeks back (3 or 4) on their IGN WEEKLY show. Anyone that is interested in this game I would highly recommend watching that video. It also answered a bunch of other questions like the one posed by #8, And i think it was 32 players but I might be mistaken. This game looks sweet and might be just what the Playstation Store needs.

looks good, the only concern i have is that infantry look like target practice for everyone else. infantry should not be 'guys that havent gotten in vehicles yet'. there should be some roll that they fill, from that video it looks like they are pretty useless against vehicles.

This game looks like a lot of fun, no matter how it's delivered to us. Definitely looking forward to it, I'm actually happy that they decided to drop the single player in favor of making it an online only title. The only thing I'd like to see change is the number of players, it would be great to have some truly epic battles.

Looks, great......other than the fact that everything is brown. Seriously, what is up with that? Even the greens and silvers look brown. Did they just decided the game needed more brown and put a brown filter on everything? Shame really. I'll still get it though!

I think Naggs was right about the infantry. I watched the video and found myself a little dismayed. Warhawk has been something I was very excited for back in 2005, but since than it seems to have gotten worse. First, the clumsy controls shown off at E306 and than this drastic change from the original concept. It still looks like fun, but if they tightened up controls and made it more of a air-combat-focused games instead, I think that would be better.
Now, back to the infantry. In Halo (one million PS3 fans just cringed) I can generally take out any vehicle on foot with just my trusty pistol. In this game, it looks like you have to race to a vehicle or face utter death. If the focus has changed this much from air-combat, shouldn't foot soldiers have some kind of starting weapon to help them defeat the now tank dominant game?
