Capcom brings Super Street Fighter II and more to PSN
At Capcom Gamer's Day, Capcom revealed three new downloadable titles for the PlayStation Network. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is a remake of a remake of a remake of a remake of the classic 16-bit fighting game. The entire game is being redrawn, from the character select, all the way through to backgrounds and endings, most likely to take advantage of your shiny HDTV.Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is a intensely action-oriented approach on the constructible strategy game of the same name. Like Cash Guns Chaos, the game will have players blasting enemies in a colorful, cel-shaded world. For images of the game, check out the gallery at Joystiq.
Talisman is based off yet another strategy game, but unlike Rocketmen, it'll stay true to its original gameplay. This downloadable title will be a digital recreation of the game, and will be playable offline and on.
Finally, Puzzle Fighter II HD will also be making an appearance on the Network. This lovable puzzle game will also get a glorious high-definition makeover. See a video of the game, after the cut.

They should get more downloadable games. Xbox Live Arcade comes out with a new game every week...

How old is XBL? Now, how old is PSN? You people have to chill the fuck out, it's like bitching on how the PS3 doesn't have a shitload of good games, the thing is only 5 months old, thats what you get for buying a system on day one or so.... Things will slowly getting better...
^FourthDimensionGod^ @ Apr 13th 2007 10:40PM
Raz it doesnt matter how old XBL is because Sony had that many years to implement/improve their system. even Home leaves more questions for me than answers. Will i be able to send my friends messages or talk to them while im playing a game and they're playing another?
Colin @ Apr 13th 2007 10:47PM
HOLY F***ING S**T! Puzzle Fighter II HD? OMG!
I'm literally hyperventilating into a paper bag right now. This is like some kind of sweet ambrosia delivered from the gods to my own personal dreams. Suddenly I like Capcom again. :P

@^FourthDimensionGod^,
Home has nothing to do with ingame messaging.
@Askzander,
Yeah, your right. I mean, today is friday, and all we got on the Euro Store is a stupid Sudoku, and on top of that, Super Rub'a'Dub and Lemmings have disappeared. No sign of those two games in the Euro Store anymore...
F*cking incredible. And I suppose these Capcom games are only for US Store, certainly not for Euro Store.
BTW, no, I'm no Xbox fanboy. Never had an Xbox, and I hate to death Bill Gates and Windows.

^FourthDimensionGod^,
Actually Sony has only had about 6 months of LIVE time to perfect their online system. That is all that matters.
How long has the Xbox been online? Microsoft has had XBL since 2001 when the xbox launched (and years of seeing online experiences on the computer before that to plan their ideas). They've had over half a decade to perfect their online experience, and they STILL didn't have background downloading at launch and still have issues like lag in their service along with other lingering issues.
The argument that Sony should have been able to immediately beat out XBL holds no weight because when it comes to this because Microsoft clearly has suffered through the same issues that Sony has. It's the reality that all companies go through, especially with ambitious online plans.
You don't believe me? You think that a company should be able to analyze what their competitors online plans and one-up them? Then how come nobody has one-upped Amazon.com? Or Google? Or Apple?
It takes time in a REAL WORLD environment to perfect an online technology. It's taken Microsoft many years to get where they are, and so far it appears Sony is catching up rather quickly. I'm sure the games will come, just give it a bit of time.
It's true there are not a ton of online games coming out from Sony yet, but ask yourself this:
How many years did it take Xbox Live to get a steady flow of downloadable games?
I'll give you a hint.
It's five.

Games are also coming out on XBLA too. You know where my money is going.

Ooh I wanna see a new Marvel vs. Capcom thing for the PS3. I haven't played that game in so long, and it would be cool to see what they can improve with the new playstation capabilities.
Thomas @ Apr 14th 2007 12:59AM
OMG!!!!! Don't stop there capcom... please redo... Street Fighter III, and Alpha 3, in HD!!!!! This is good, I can not wait to play these new games via psn....
Xiru @ Apr 14th 2007 1:33AM
This is insane! My favorite fighting game of all time! Finally I get to have this on my PS3. Now i'm not sure if its been mentioned anywhere, but will this have online play like street fighter for xbla?
scott @ Apr 14th 2007 1:30AM
Colin, how long was the ps3 in development? How did they completely neglect their online service? Xbox live is so much better because they've actually been working on it for 5 years, don't get pissed because your online is so shitty.
You're like an annoying little high schooler who decides to make fun of the kid who got an A on the test, since he's such a loser for studying too much. You got an F since you didn't work on yours.
Nobody claims Sony should have beat Microsoft's online out the door, but jesus they coulda done a crapload more then they are offering now.
Tyler @ Apr 14th 2007 3:08AM
@10 I think they're doing a decent job actually.. what seeing how they implemented background downloading faster than Live did...what else would you suggust they add in?
Only thing I would like to see right now is access to the XMB while in game
Extinction @ Apr 14th 2007 3:51AM
"Xbox live is so much better"
No it's not. Or at least, no where near worth paying for.
Killer @ Apr 14th 2007 8:08AM
Why can't we all just get along!?
FrankTheCrank @ Apr 14th 2007 8:30AM
Where the ALPHA love???
I shouldn't be complaining cause finally Capcom is giving the PS3 some love, but I would rather have some Alpha action. Or a BD with the entire Alpha series.
Cmon Capcom...the Playstation brand built you guys....give it some more love!!!
humpty @ Apr 14th 2007 10:05AM
Cool... i may be picking this up.. it will have to look very good though since i already have it on my PC via CPS2 emulator.
Jason B. @ Apr 14th 2007 10:26AM
@Scott, you are comparing apples to oranges. You can't compare XBL's time with it's consumers to PSN's development time. You can't better a service without consumer feedback. Therefore, you should be comparing PSN's 5 months of being with consumers to XBL's 6 years that consumers have been able to use it. Big difference, champ. Microsoft didn't have all this great stuff from day one of it's release either (it was in development for years before release) and it did have it's initial woes.
Maybe you can get your facts straight before responding to someone with childish insults.
--------------------
To the Euro gamers. You can create other accounts where you can sign up for the US store and the Japan store. Just go create a new user, then sign up for PSN, chose USA or Japan as your store and there you go. However, I am not sure if you need a credit card from those regions in order to buy something from those stores. Some people say you do and others say you don't.
James @ Apr 14th 2007 12:51PM
Why oh why do the 360 fanboys come here and ruin all our fun?
And scott, Sony did not neglect their network service. Obviously, they have been working on HOME for a long time and it will become the new PSN. They probably wanted to have it ready for launch but it got delayed (as all software does) so they released something to take its place in the meantime. So say whatever you want, Microsoft definitely had the jump on Sony but you can't say that Sony totally neglected their network at this point.
WTangoFoxtrot @ Apr 14th 2007 12:56PM
ohh nice, i think capcoms's doing a simultainous release cos this is also comming onto XBLA. good to see the PS3 starting to get arcade games too.
ohh and BTW XBL was launched in 2003 i think, 2 whole years after the Xbox was launched. so i think its wrong to say that sony should already be on par as they have not had enough time.
massive_98 @ Apr 14th 2007 2:06PM
I think the PSN works just fine. I play my online games, I can send messages to friends, I can download demos from the store.
What's wrong with that?
scott @ Apr 15th 2007 12:03PM
Are you guys honestly defending your shitty PSN? Yes, Xbox live has had years in the making, but that is in NO way an excuse for PSN to suck as badly as it does.
You honestly think its a valid excuse for sony's network to blow simply because it just came out? They've been working on ps3 for a few years, why weren't the working on perfecting their online? I'm not saying it should be up to par with what xbox live is, but it's nowhere close. I can't believe you guys are actually using that excuse to defend how shitty the psn is.
If some new company comes out with a shitty ass game, do people simply say "it's ok they are a new company they havent been making games very long"
No, they call it garbage and buy something better.
If a company puts enough time and gets enough feedback (which believe it or not, is possible without releasing the game public), they can make a killer game.
So why are you defending PSN?
Are you saying they couldn't make it better without releasing it to the public? All the thousands of sony employees were unable to test it, give feedback, fix the shittyness that it is right now?
Whoever told me I'm comparing apples to oranges, get your head out of your ass. You cant compare XBL and PSN anymore. XBL had the advantage of first out the gate, they got the feedback on what worked, what needed fixing. Sony doesn't have that luxury. A standard had been set, and they failed miserably. They knew what xbox live could do, why didn't they incorporate every feature they possibly could into the PSN?
