Japan hardware sales: April 2nd - 8th

It's that time again! The latest in console sales numbers straight from the land of the rising sun, brought to you by the PS3 forums. The numbers are, admittedly, quite low, especially on the Sony side of things. The PS3 and PS2 are still neck and neck in sales, but those blasted Nintendo folk just want everyone in Japan to eat their hardware like it's lifeblood.- DSL 110,845

At least we can say that the PS3 is selling more than the PS2, right? Maybe Japan needs another Gundam game...

Just slowly going down... definitely need to release some games over there, is anything even coming out right now?

OR a Monster Hunter game. Those usually help the PSP. Those sells sadden me. The PS3's numbers should be getting closer to the Wii's numbers, not the 360's.

I really do not understand Japan. Well maybe I do.
All I can say is they appear to have some insane infatuation with collecting, and training odd creatures. So whichever company releases the next one should see a spike in sales.

2. Monster Hunter
3. Some game Microsoft hasn't even thought of to get better sales in Japan because they are too busy focusing on 20 FPS games. Seriously its huge gripe with me.

From what I understand, the release list for Japan for the PS3 is quite bare for the summer. I'm at work right now, so I can't really go to game sites (except ps3fanboy ... must be a Sony fan in the mix). If I were Sony, I'd be banging down someone's door to release either a Monster Hunter or a JRPG FAST. The 360 is making another big bundle release for Trusty Bell(AKA Eternal Sonata) in June, and the way the numbers have been sliding, we might see the 360 outsell the PS3 for that week.

Both Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey look awesome. They are J-RPGs being released for the 360 this year. I'm also interested in White Knight Story for the PS3. That looks pretty gorgeous, too. Delectable treats for RPG fans everywhere.

Japan has over 100 million people.
So, the DS still has quite a lot of ground to cover. They haven't even sold 20 million in Japan yet lol PS2's still outnumber the DS in the land of the rising sun.
