Silent Hill 5 may be a timed exclusive to PS3
We're serious, despite there being hardly any news on Silent Hill 5. Akira Yamaoka recently sat down with the German side of GamePro and spilled the beans on some details of the title. Oddly, not much has changed from when we last talked about the game, but that's a good thing because the game seemed like it was on the right track. We'll summarize the interview.- The game, as previously told, will resemble the best Silent Hill game in terms of player direction and character behavior. The best is, easily, Silent Hill 2.
- The game's platform is still up in the air. PlayStation 3 and XBox 360 are obvious choices, but Akira hints at what may be a timed exclusive by saying that "we have had a good past experience with Playstation [where the series was born] and we hope to continue that trend."
- Akira will probably be lead sound guy again, which is great.
- They're not going to adopt the system used in the PSP Silent Hill: Origins because Akira said it didn't show off enough of the environment and surroundings... and that's what makes the games so awesome.
Short interview, but it gives us a clear enough idea of what to expect. Still no scans floating around, although we're sure that'll change sooner or later. Come on, Konami, let's get this game rolling!

well, the PS3 DESPERATELY needs some good exclusives.. i thought GTA IV would seal the deal for huge PS3 gains.. now talk of FFXIII not being exclusive.. and what else? Hey, i love my PS3, but when we (fanboys) dont get exclusives, we have to put up with inferior (9gb) xbox 360 ports... and since the general public (or xbox fanboys/media) think the 360 is soo much cheaper, theyll buy the 360 and subsequently the xbox360 version. Sony needs to fork over some SERIOUS dough for exclusives.

Okay, he's talking about the PSP Silent Hill like it's out or something. Silent Hill:Origins is one of the biggest pieces of PSP vaporware out there (right up with Gran Turismo and FF7), so it seems like an odd thing to bring up.
'Oh yeah, we're not going to use the camera angle that has appeared in the 3 screenshots of a psp game thats not actually coming out. Surprise!'
Just weird...
Other than that though, I'm looking forward to SH5! Next gen terror should be, you know, uh terrifying.

Well well well.... the way its going sony gonna have to spend some money to get exclusives im srry to say but ps3 is dieing slowly..... and its a terrible thing but this is no xbox ps2 gamecube thing were all systems survived just ps2 did better. This is where the ps3 is looking like the 3do and is going to sink.
Im a 360 fanboy but i do NOT hope ps3 dies i just hope it loses the war and sonys tries harder next gen.

Try harder how? They just released the most advanced console out there. Playstation brand consoles have always been advanced for their time. The PS3 is about the long-term aspect of gaming. Games that are longer then before and a console that won't break down on you after 5 play-throughs. Hopefully people will relalize that before it's too late. If not, console gaming will probably sieze to be. Or maybe just stay suspended in time were games will pretty much all play the same as last gen except with slightly prettier graphics.

"Playstation brand consoles have always been advanced for their time."
What? No, this is the first time Playstation was more advanced with the PS3 and PSP.
massive_98 @ Apr 21st 2007 12:14PM
I agree. What's with the picture?
lonsdale_85 @ Apr 21st 2007 12:38PM
Playstation brand consoles always had the most games and it looks like this will be the first time they will be behind.
I never imagined Playstation would lose so many exclusive titles.

@ sean -- if you don't like the Silent Hill games, trust me, you won't like Siren. It's like a non-linear Silent Hill. With crappy british voice-acting.
@ massive_98 -- the picture? It's of some really skinny, pale boy pretending to be Pyramid Head (the villain from Silent Hill 2). I found it hilarious since the guy is supposed to be huge. He at least needs a bodysuit.
massive_98 @ Apr 21st 2007 3:19PM
Ok.

i heard that dooja likes to make statements and give no proof whatsoever. I have a source thats very close, close to my hand -its a newspaper and its loaded with bullshit! Just like all the 360 trollboys who seem to spend more time here than anywhere else (including playing their 360s (poor guys its probably bricked and on transit for a shoddy repair M$$$))!
Edude @ May 31st 2007 4:07PM
We'll see less and less 3rd party exclusives for any console, especially the AAA titles. Silent Hill 5 will likely be multi-platform (X360, PS3, PC) if Konami wants to reach as many potential buyers as possible. It is here to make the most $ without wasting billions on R&D, not just to please a small group rabid fanboys of any particular platform.

I'm just happy there's gonna be a new SH....you fanboy losers can tear each other apart for all I care...Got no skills on the outside so your always bringing your half assed information to the table. PS3 or 360, it does not matter! I will be playing the next SH...and you losers will just be lighting up the internet hiding your tiny manhoods behind your consoles
