PSP experiences price cuts worldwide
America isn't the only country enjoying a PSP price cut. This time, it's for our friends across the Atlantic. Starting May 4th, PSP will go for a paltry £129.99, a savings of £20. A "Platinum" range of titles is also being released: Ridge Racer 2, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, KillZone: Liberation, Loco Roco and Moto GP will all be available for £14.99 each. The UK is not the only territory experiencing a PSP price drop. Korea also announced a discounted price for the system: 198,000 won, a savings of 50,000 won. The savings will take place starting April 26th.
Finally, our northern neighbors have also experienced a price drop. Canadians can now get their PSP systems for $199.99, a savings of $30. These global price cuts are showing a more aggressive stance from Sony--something all PSP fans can be thankful for.

a new model on the eve of Crisis Core, GoW, DMC?
of course, that makes perfect sense, just like how Microsoft is slashing their xbox price on the eve of Halo 3.

In Germany, it went from 200€ to 170€ today.
Yay. I have two already, tho :)

Predictable troll
Every console gets price cuts - the DS as well. It is a natural cycle of business to cut prices to keep sales rolling as the costs to manufacture decrease.

The are the MSRP...
In Canada it has been $199 CDN for over 6 mos at Walmart already so hopefully they will drop it along with the MSRP.
Of course there have been sales too and I picked one up 2 weeks ago for $149 CDN ($129 USD).

I have a question. I'm thinking of getting one for my girlfriend... so that she wouldn't just hog my Puzzle quest.. and it'd be cool to play Ad-Hoc vs mode on that.
my question is.. what's the last firmware that can be downgraded to 1.50?
or should I just get a used PSP from eBay?

>8. It has been confirmed that there is a new model in the works.
That's a lie and you know it. care to prove it?
Colin @ Apr 23rd 2007 1:41PM
@8...
That may be but it is no where close ... nothing has been submitted to FCC for approval.
Adam @ Apr 23rd 2007 1:44PM
German guy, why do you have 2, did one break??
Noshino @ Apr 23rd 2007 1:51PM
"11. German guy, why do you have 2, did one break??"
I also have 2, but just because one has firmware 1.5 and the other one I keep it with the latest one... my psp's are scratched but for some weird reason they haven't stop working yet, gotta love Sony :)

See ASK PSP Fanboy from 2 days ago:
Q: While reading either EGM or Game Informer, I noticed that there was the mention of a confirmed redesign of the PSP that would be smaller and lighter, yet keep the same size screen. Have you heard any thing about this?
A: Ah, the infamous PSP redesign. Sony has continuously denied the possibility of a redesigned system. Remember, magazines write up stories weeks, sometimes months, before they publish. The magazine article you are referring to most likely referenced SCEE Managing Director Ray Maguire's oft-misunderstood quote about the current system being just a "first iteration." Of course, Sony has remade their hardware before (look at the smaller PS1 and PS2). However, there's still no real confirmation that a redesign will be happening any time soon.
In other words it is silly to think a redesign isn't coming but there has been NO indication of it being imminent.

>blasphemizer
thank you, because apparently something as big as PSP2 being CONFIRMED happened to escape the notice of entire PSPfanboy website.
Kade Storm @ Apr 23rd 2007 2:49PM
It's a strong hypothesis, this redesign. Sure DS lite followed the DS price drop; now DS is a Sony product, right? I am serious when I say that I'm actually giving into this hypothesis, but I will question shoddy logic when constantly presented with the DS lite theory. If the new design--if released--is thinner, then not even 8-gigs of flash will motivate me towards getting one. But if my Garden Gnome comes to life and decides to join in, then perhaps I'll consider.
On topic:
As for the platinum titles - HELL YEAH!
PSP_Rising @ Apr 23rd 2007 4:10PM
Well it's fine if there is an improved model in the works or even if there is not, I am glad Sony does not go the Nintendo route and release another version of the same held held thats lighter and brighter, I think they should have called the GBA and the DS Betas as it took on the GBA's part 3 tries to get it right and it has taken 2 on the DS. I am sure when we do see the next incarnation of the Mighty PSP it will be much more! That would be quite a feat given the power of the current Model. IMO the pricedrop really was a long time coming.
Saigon @ Apr 23rd 2007 4:41PM
I agree with Colin, that there's been no official confirmation for a redesign.
Benjamin @ Apr 25th 2007 12:46AM
Does anybody know when those platinum titles are being released in Australia and New Zealand?
I'm looking forward to picking up Killzone and Ridge Racer 2 for the cheap.
Cheers, Benjamin
