RUMOR: PlayStation Home beta is up and running?
Did you get an inconspicuous envelope from Sony lately? We're skeptical because we haven't been informed of the initiation of the Home beta, but a random person over at the PlayStation forums has decided to heat up the interweb with this simple, poorly constructed claim: "hay if you did not get your copy of the PS3 home disc for down load you are not in the beta test sorry but i got mine yesterday". Wherever did proper grammar go?Anyway, we've yet to see confirmation or the denial of such a claim, so we're leaving it to you, our famous readers! Has anyone else gotten a disc of the beta in the mail? Or did you get a download disc some other way? Shoot a picture of it, send it our way. Because we've not gotten/seen anything.

Save @ Apr 25th 2007 1:26PM
I got mine, but it was an HD-DVD disc...didn't work in my PS3.
tony @ Apr 25th 2007 1:33PM
never saw anywhere you could even sign up for the beat.sonys not that dumb to mail out the beat.i would think it would be in the store for downlaod so they could get more users on their network since ms is kickin their ass online wise.

Completely false.
In fact, if you want to sign up for Beta, check out this site: http://www.homebetatrial.com/
Vader582 @ Apr 25th 2007 2:06PM
The child forgot to mention that his PS4, PSP2 and 20 free games were included with said Home Beta disc. *rolls eyes*

some newbies again. Got to be false. Sony assured us it will become available sometimes in April. only 5 days left.
mamardilla69 @ Apr 25th 2007 2:20PM
ive heard some guys that got their home discs this ways:
1)went scubba diving with his ps3, the ps3 started shinning and continue until he reached the home disc
2)another guy was hanging the wet clothes and a chopper drop a mysterious package
3)another one was told to listen m jacksons dangerous cd backwards and hell get the password
stef@geiger.ca @ Apr 25th 2007 2:41PM
Definitely false. I've been checking the beta signup page multiple times a day since shortly after GDC. Wow. That sentence kind of makes me question the choices I've made in life. I don't even really think home will be remotely entertaining. I guess I'm just THAT desperate for a reason to use my PS3.
Obviously the beta will be a download, much like how Fold@home worked.
KillarClown @ Apr 25th 2007 2:37PM
mamardilla69.. would have been funnier if you could spell or remember to include words or keep in the same tense. bravo.
oh and if MJ's luring people to Home.. it's boys in the wrong age range..

Rumor: it sucks
silence @ Apr 25th 2007 3:12PM
False! This has not even showed up on Devkits yet. Don't hold your breath for April...
Colin @ Apr 25th 2007 3:12PM
Regardless of the veracity of this particular forum post does it not seem plausible that the home beta IS up an running since it it a private beta to begin with and we were told it would start in April. The homebetatrial.com site, as I understand it, is for the public beta starting in the fall of 2007.
So, anyone that IS participating now is a: insider b: signed a non disclosure...right?
johnxmzzhang @ Apr 25th 2007 6:46PM
I dont think that Sony would put the beta download on discs because that wouldnt be very smart.... If I had a disc, it would probrably find its way to 10+ PS3s maybe even for a measly price of 5$ a download :P haha. Yah My point is sony would not shit HOME beta out to us through discs that can be transfered to other PS3s, and they need maximum controll over amount of beta testers to get responses and suggestions. :) Cant Wait For HOME haha
massive_98 @ Apr 25th 2007 6:48PM
I think you have to live in UK to get in the first beta trial.
lenny0487 @ Apr 25th 2007 9:16PM
Sony updates the PSN and system every thursday, I belive we will probably see it tomorrow. as far as that comment goes, its false.
Magma @ Apr 25th 2007 7:56PM
#17 I'm not quite sure where you would even get an idea like that.
Sin Adam @ Apr 25th 2007 8:48PM
Got my home beta on Wii! And it sucked! Sony! I want my PS3 version instead!
Thaylin @ Apr 25th 2007 9:32PM
I got the official Playstation Underground email tonight inviting me to Sign up for the chance to be in the beta and will be notified by email if I'm selected.

I still don't believe this. Mainly because i'm upset. I had the home website bookmarked as my start page since it was created so I could be one of the first to sign up for the beta. It looks like Sony screwed me. Why send random emails to underground members and not allow people to sign up who actually want to beta test? If this is real, then I apologize but I just feel its fake.

This is half true. I just got an e-mail asking for information from my to be accepted into the beta. After doing it I checked on the regular Home Beta site and it still hadn't changed. So they are gather information in some form.
