Why you gotta ruin a week that does have a ps3 release with that picture of Snaggletooth?
Oh yeah, and you forgot Calling All Cars.
Again...
maybe if you post it up, it will actually happen this time.

This must be some sort of mistake!
Under "Ps3 New releases", it says a game, not "No new releases"
Glitch?
Will @ Apr 27th 2007 10:56PM
scott: man, i've gotta tell ya...you're 1 hilarious dude
Colin @ Apr 27th 2007 11:02PM
I can think of a MUCH better picture to use of Kirsten whilst still evoking the Spiderman franchise.
Will @ Apr 27th 2007 11:07PM
yeah....at least there's some cleavage lol
kingofwale @ Apr 28th 2007 12:19AM
not everything is so easily glitched in this world, Scott, unlike certain console tho. ;)
scott @ Apr 28th 2007 2:25AM
ah kingofwale, so naive. I work at a gamestop, I'll admit at launch alot of 360's were returned defective, but I've had maybe 1-2 returned in the last 5 months or so. It seems like the % is quite a bit higher, since you see a majority of the people doing the complaining are congregated on gaming websites, such as this. Even if you had 1,000 people on one site complaining theirs broke, that's .1% of people who own the system.
Andir3.0 @ Apr 28th 2007 4:45AM
I thought Microsoft published a number around 5%? But, knowing Microsoft and how hey like to play with numbers, I'm sure it's around 7-10%.
Andir3.0 @ Apr 28th 2007 4:56AM
Eh, I did some looking (cause you brought it up) :P
Unofficial polls (tech/game sites polling users) gave failure rates around 35-45% failure rate
Analysts predicted roughly 15-20%
And Microsoft states 3-5%
Any way you slice it...it was/is a big problem.

can you back those number up? or did you just happen to pull them out of your hmmm. you know. ;)

ah, scott, so naive.
Most people don't return their consoles to gamestop because guess what? There's Microsoft support for that.
Also, had you been looking at internet polls, numbers reached 59% failure rate; and that doesn't mean "59% had a defective 360", that means 59% had at least gone through one defective console, i.e., many had to go through a lot more. Those polls had numbers well into the thousands figure. If you knew anything about sampling, you'd know that for those kinds of polls, getting a little less than 400 people to answer it gives you a HIGH level of confidence for those percentages.
So yeah, the glitchy console statement is correct. On my personal experience, I'm on my third Xbox 360. I'm also on my third 20 GB HDD for Xbox 360, because the first two didn't work. All of the people I know with a 360 have had problems with it, whether scratched discs, overheating, disc tray not coming out, games not loading, console freezing, etcetera. 50% failure rate might even be an understatement.
PS3 has given me no problems at all.
scott @ Apr 28th 2007 11:21AM
Yes I do know about statistics and polling, and 400 people would not give a high level of confidence, especially since the data is going to be skewed. For two reasons. First, people who have a problem with their console are bound to come on web pages looking for people who are having a similar problem. People who don't have any problems with their consoles, aren't as likely to go and report positive feedback. Since you own a 360, I'll use this example. How often do you leave positive feedback for someone after a game on xbox live? Hardly ever? (Unless it's a 2k spot game, which makes you do it). How often do you leave negative feedback? If you're like me, the negative feedback is much more frequent since I report people if I see them cheating etc. I don't randomly give some guy on my team positive feedback. Same goes for the guitar hero 2 pricing. How many people filled out that petition, and filled out major nelson's post? Do you think all the people that actually did buy the GH2 song packs responded on major nelson's post saying the prices were fine? Secondly, there's no proof that those people even had problems with their systems. There's a lot of 360 haters out there, who would love to completely screw up the data and push the bell curve either which way. Either way, any samples are going to be biased, one way or another.
I'm not denying that 360 does have glitching problems, but I highly doubt it's in the 50% range, or it would be a much bigger issue. Microsoft would do a recall if the numbers were that high. You assume the number is higher, since you've had an issue, and your friends have. I think it's lower, since I've never had a problem, and all 5 of my friends who own one have never had a problem. I doubt there's even a way to find out the correct %, since a poll on LIVE would only include people who are on LIVE.
IrishGandalf @ Apr 28th 2007 11:59AM
will, lmao! it's funny coz it's true
bootsielon @ Apr 28th 2007 12:21PM
" I doubt there's even a way to find out the correct %, since a poll on LIVE would only include people who are on LIVE."
Why would all people on LIVE have a more (or less) defective console? Xbox 360 is supposedly built around Xbox LIVE.
Yes, the samples are probably biased, but seriously, the problems are everywhere. I find it odd that every single website on the net has had problems with Xbox 360. And I'm not talking about the readers, I'm talking about the editors.

>16. @bootsielon - most people buy their systems from game stop.
actually, I think Costoc (with their unlimited warranty), bestbuy and even walmart probably sell more console than game stop.
now, gamestop probably sells more software, but honestly, do you want to go deal with their college drop-out employee services? ;)

i dont know everyone makes such a big deal out of Spider Man. The series was completely tarnished and ruined when the second one came along when it was pushed with to much "Emotion". I actually used to be pshyced to get a spider man game because of explorable environments. Then i got spider man 2 and never touched the game again and i sold it back to EBgames.
thanks peter parker, for ruining everything
