PS3 launches in India
Well, today marks another launch for the PlayStation 3 -- this time the target is India. The launch press releases are full of the fluff we've been subject to time and again, so we're not going to talk about the features of the fabled PS3 or the SIXAXIS... or the launch titles. We will, however, comment on the price set for the games and console in Rupees. If you can throw down 39,990 Rs for the system, you can probably pony up the extra 2,799 Rs per game. Interestingly enough, each extra controller sets you back 2,990 Rs... yeah, that's right. Another SIXAXIS controller costs more than a game. Backwards, doesn't it seem?
Anyway, welcome to the fold, India! We expect you to help us with our folding@home -- our team number is 57793, recall.

60% premium on PS3 vs 41% premium on xbox.. so, what are we talking about? A lot to do with import tax and government regulation.
We know PS3 and Wii will do very well in Asia regardless,

Well maybe....
in the grey market a ps3 costs around 30000 and a xbox 360 premium around 20000 (moded)...
which is arnd US$ 730.46 (ps3) & 486.97 (xbox 360)....
Still damn expensive

Do you folks think this shot is real?
kingofwale @ Apr 27th 2007 6:13PM
@3
the shot looks pretty real, but if it's the ONLY source, it might be photoshopped (just that the person did a good job), if it was already in print boxes, the imagines should pop up everywhere now. (is that the HDMI cable I see on the box there?)
although if it is true, maybe Sony will announce the price cut to the 60GB this week? Imagine this...
60GB for 549
80GB with HDMI for 599
sweeet.

"although if it is true, maybe Sony will announce the price cut to the 60GB this week?"
That news would sound good on the 29th... especially if they took it down to $500 even. All announcements of the elite's availability by non-microsoft sources would instantly include that news about the ps3. Free advertising is good advertising...

you would think we here in Delhi and the other metros would go out charging to buy Sony's console by giving up like 1-2 months salary so that we can QUOTE:"We expect you to help us with our folding@home"
if we wanted to get a gaming console everyone would get a 360 instead any day but even that is out of our reach :( were sorry but due to high electricity prices dont expect us to leave our systems on 24x7 especially when its for non gaming purposes.

the 80 gb pic is a fake.look at your ps3 box closely then look at the pic and you can tell.for one bc the 80gb is written in read.on the real boxes its white and only says 60 gb,or 80gb.not 60gb/60go,or 80gb/80go.plus its pretty convienent that the light just happen to block the serial number for the system.so i think its defintely a fake.
