Nintendo to Kuturagi: "Come work for us."
While some believe that Krazy Kenny K killed the PlayStation brand with his handling of the PS3 develpment and launch, some of his competitors are potentially looking at Sony's loss as their gain. At a press conference yesterday, Nintendo's own chief executive made a couple of comments regarding Kuturagi's recently announced retirement. According to Go Nintendo, "Mr. Iwata stated that he would love to see Kutaragi join up with Nintendo."While this is most certainly just Nintendo paying respect to Mr. Kutaragi with some kind words and a tip-of-the hat to a man who has contributed a lot to the industry, it is interesting to think of the possibilities. Imagine Nintendo's next console, the WiiToo, under the develpment skills of Kuturagi... what would he do with it? What would he put in it?

He is still the senior technology adviser for the company, along with serving as an honorary chairman of SCEI. What a friendly gesture to someone who is STILL a very much part of Sony.
Maybe Nintendo should also go after Gates, he's retiring this year also.

I think he would just get pissed off at all the limitations the big N would put on his budgets.
No Kutaragi, no HD in this one, No DVD either, or a reasonable harddrive, or access to external harddrives. (Its almost like taking technology backwards a step. even if my Wii is a killer party hit)

He would slap a Spiderman font on it.
That's all he seems to be good for, the old fool.

If Kutaragi made the next Nintendo console it would cost $4,000, play only proprietary $ONY DRM discs, install a rootkit on every PC in your home network, and then explode.
Magma @ Apr 29th 2007 1:38AM
Arno it never ceases to amaze me how moronic your comments are.

Easy on the Nintendo bashing. All they did was essentially compliment the guy. Its not like Nintendo is in the loop with what goes on in Sony.
As for the Spider-Man font comment, I find it highly ironic that you use the term "fool". He's the father of the PlayStation. His name is synonymous with a brand that started out in the gutter (after Nintendo basically stabbed Sony in the back) and became the most relevant brand in the last two console generations. Old fools aren't respected by the entire industry.

I love how people accuse sony of copying, when not only did they work together with Nintendo in the beginning, and were invited to join them until they were shut down. Bet nintendo regretted that for the last few gens.
But really. Wonderbread? Fridges? PC companies, Cars??? People don't seem to get that without some copying and IMPROVING that companies would have a monopoly and be able to do and charge whatever they want. a serious lose for all gamers.
(also, sorry if my first post came off as bashing. I love my wii, I just wish it had at least a gig HD, and wouldnt look like shit on my HD tv. I got a nice new tv just for my ps3, and i find that my wii looks an AWFUL lot worse on it than it did on my regular tv! composite cables somewhat helped, but im still mad and nintendo.
And the controllers not coming rechargeable just pissed me off. I went throught batteries in less then a week when i first got it. I didnt know microsoft did this too, but sony wins respect for choosing rechargable. I mean, at mass production, they could have increased the price by 5$, still so cheap, and would have been much nicer to its customers.
and they could give me mario galaxy! heh, but i dont mind waiting as long as its worth the wait in the end.

I cant believe your sony ignorance. Nintendo didnt stab sony in the back, rather it was sony that stabbed nintendo in the back. They demanded an extra $20 dollars per console from nintendo after they had made an agreement on a price. So if i was nintendo i would have told them to screw off and i would shut them down too. And i am in no way a nintendo fanboy, just get your facts strait.
Grey Acumen @ Apr 29th 2007 5:30PM
Actually, from what I recall, the thing that broke the deal was that part of the agreement would break Nintendo's exclusive hold on characters like Mario, Link, Samus and other Nintendo mainstays. They couldn't get that part of the contract reworded, so they broke it off entirely.

Nathan,
It doesn't matter what Sony demanded. Nintendo had an agreement, one that was signed by Nintendo's then CEO and owner. If it was such a bullish agreement on Sony's part, then why did Nintendo even bother on signing it? Stupidity perhaps, but that's not Sony's fault, that's Nintendo's. So yeah, since Nintendo backed off an agreement they signed, and signed a similar one with the FOREIGN competition (phillips), then they did stab Sony in the back. But hey, if it makes you feel better, Nintendo didn't do that because of Malice; they did it because of their management's idiocy. ;)
You're probably a fanboy, but most definitely if you disagree.
