Eye of Judgement hands-on!

MTV got to spend some quality time with the upcoming PS3 eye-toyish game, Eye of Judgement. As MTV points out, it's a cross between virtual-reality and Star Wars Chess. And it looks like a little Magic the Gathering may be thrown in for good measure. Anyway you look at it, it's all cool and we can't wait to get our greedy little hands on it. This one screams innovation.

this would be AWESOME for Yu-gi-oh card games.. yeah, I said it. I actually like Yu-Gi-oh card.
and then from there, try to get Pokemon license and there's at least 5 million copies sold right there.

S.O.B, there is why we NEED Net neutrality law, that... or I need IP scrambler. I live in Toronto too
then welcome to the world of youtube.

Dreadhead541 @ Apr 29th 2007 8:18PM
why does mtv get it?
humpty @ Apr 29th 2007 8:23PM
I wonder if this will launch with the PSeye.. cause SingStar uses it too (not exclusively), so there are a bunch of bundling possibilities.
Anyways..cooool!
kingofwale @ Apr 29th 2007 8:33PM
>I wonder if this will launch with the PSeye
isn't this the same thing as the newly introduced PS3 webcam thing? This should work with this game, SingStar, because they want you to upload videos to HOME when it launches.

"and then from there, try to get Pokemon license and there's at least 5 million copies sold right there."
I hope you didn't seriously mean that.

I can GUARANTEE you that if this is made to Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh, it will sell over 5 million copies.
Colin @ Apr 30th 2007 10:06AM
@kingofwhale..
'Quote: I can GUARANTEE you that if this is made to Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh, it will sell over 5 million copies.'
Sure...and I can guarantee you that if monkeys fly out of my butt I'll be famous for 15 minutes on GooTube. The problem is that NEITHER guarantee is ever going to happen. (speaking of Pokemon here)
Joop @ Apr 30th 2007 11:08AM
"I can GUARANTEE you that if this is made to Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh, it will sell over 5 million copies."
It would sell way, way more than that. But Pokemon is a second-party Nintendo license, and you couldn't pry it from their cold dead hands. God of War 2 sold something like 800k copies in its first month, in the US and people thought that was huge. The new Pokemon sold over a million in 5 days and the reaction was "yeah, that's about right." Point is, you'll never see Pokemon on another console.
But the technology at work in those videos is not something Sony made. It's been around a bit and this is just the first implementation in the gaming world. So, it might very well get the pokemon treatment, but it won't be on the PS3.

I am hoping they dont mess this golden opportunity by pricing the eyetoy too high. I think 80$ with the Eye of judgement is a good pricepoint. This is because Eye of judgement is fueled by cards so once they set a decent price of entry there will be more "booster pack" sales from Hasbro on the game and it will roll from there. It couldve been awesome if they had Yugioh since that card game was based on monsters coming out of cards. I think Sony didnt want to pay so much licensing fee on a new innovation- if eye of judgement does extremenly well I think Sony should put Yugioh in there - not magic the gathering because of the amount of cards you can have on the table.
There seems to be a bit of lag on the camera feed but then again it is from a year ago so i am hoping the new camera fixed all that.

If they make this work for M:TG, I'm in. I'd finally have someone to play with again and I'm 32.
kingofwale @ Apr 30th 2007 12:19PM
>. The problem is that NEITHER guarantee is ever going to happen
when did I ever say it's gonna happen? All I'm saying is, IF it happens, it will easily sell 5 million copies.
naggs @ May 7th 2007 6:54PM
