A new skate trailer just for you... and me... and everyone!
I grew up in the Orange County explosion -- the music, the totally "Xtreem" sports... all of that. It didn't stick, really. Maybe because I was a few thousand miles away, maybe because I was too young to have all the angst that The Offspring howled about, but now I'm starting to see how fantastic it all was. And is. And will be. All because of this skate video. No caps, because capital letters are not extreme and need to be done away with. I'm exaggerating, of course.
Anyway, the video as posted on IGN is a few days old, but it's a highlight reel of skate gameplay. Hopefully this will unseat Tony Hawk from his console-skating throne. Now we've just got to find a way to stop Tom Clancy from owning the rights to history to re-write as he sees fit. Monopolist pig. Oink! Anyone else love caffeine as much as me?

I haven't been too thrilled about the Tony Hawk franchise, mashing buttons to ride a skateboard.
But this has me excited, as it uses analog controls and seems to better mimic real-world physics.
I am definately excited about this game and looking forward to it.
While I wouldn't bother renting the former skate games, I am fascinated by the physics and the culture, and this game looks to nail that, so this is something I feel I can settle down and really get into.

I'm not a skater, never have been, but this game sounds/looks fun. I hope the black corners aren't on the screen during normal gameplay though; it would be annoying.

Ty I never actually noticed the edges but its there to mimic the effect of viewing a skate video which are nearly all filmed through super wide Century Optics lenses to allow the fimer to get closer and has a knock on effect of making tricks look bigger. A great touch but I agree could become annoying I also noticed the whole picture distorts to look like wide angle skate footage. Im thinking maybe it the replay mode that is on show here, and the in game will look untouched.
