Dark Sector: gameplay + commentary video
Are you itching to slice off some bad guy's ligaments? You should be, especially after seeing this Dark Sector trailer, complete with developer commentary! Honestly, I'm still on the fence about this game. One day I'll think it looks good, another day I won't be so impressed. After checking this out, you guys can decide where you currently stand. saw this last night on IGN video podcast and here's what I think
*shooting control is horrible
*all the enemies have to shout for you to know their location?
*gameplay just doesn't look interesting.
*control looks too loose, as you often run PAST your attackers.
*boomerang goes through walls and leaves no damage on the wall itself?

*graphic is next gen
*some good ideas.

A little off topic but lets get some controversy going...
So last night I was wondering... gee what will I be playing for the rest of the year? So I went over to EBgames.com to check upcoming releases. Now I love my PS3 and have been a strong advocate for "give it time". But I think 1 year should be enough time to come out with some games I want, afterall it was enough time for 360. There are soo few EXCLUSIVE games coming out this year it makes me sick. Meanwhile I went over to the 360 section and saw a bunch of games that caught my interest. Sony BETTER pick up the ball. Command and Conquer 3, Bioshock, Alan wake, Hour of victory, Lost Odyssey, Huxley, Shadowrun, Forza 2, Too Human, Tenchu, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, not to mention Halo 3 (to name a few) and that is only till december!!! And for PS3 im looking at Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Lair and MAYBE MGS4. Wow thats a huge contrast. How can Sony sell systems with the competition hammering them on software, not to mention that it is getting SMASHED in the online department. Sure I want my MGS4 and FF13 but I also want MORE games. It seems like 360 is the system to own and might be that way for a long time.

Most of those 360 games are on PC as well, meaning they're not really "exclusives."

You have to remember, in the 360's first year, the majority of the games that came out for the 360 could have probably been done on last gen equipment and the system didn't even start to shine until Gears of War came out, which was about a year after the system launched.
The PS3 has a limited, but still more impressive line-up than the 360 did last year at this time frame.
I remember last year 360 fans were complaining about a severe drought when it came to games, as for several months the system did not have any decent titles released.
This has happened every time a new console is released, it happened to the 360, the PS2, and the PS3 is no different.

ON launch day for the 360 I walked away with Call of Duty 3, Perfect Dark Zero, Condemned (EXCELLENT GAME!!!), Madden, Need for Speed and Project Gotham. A few weeks later I picked up Dead or Alive 4. In February Fight Night 3. In early March (3 months after launch) Burnout, GRAW, in mid march Oblivion, Blazing Angels, Top Spin 2, Far Cry. Battlefiled 2 and Tomb Raider in April. In May Hitman. June Over-G Fighters and Moto GP. In July Chromehounds, Lord of the Rings, PREY. In August Saints Row, Dead Rising. Then in September on I picked up a bunch of games including Gears of war, Splinter Cell, GRAW 2 (which still isnt out for PS3).
And those are only the games I picked up. I left out a ton like The Outfit, FF XI, Rumble Roses, Dynasty Warriors, Table Tennis, Ninety Nine Nights, King Kong, X-Men etc...
So what drought?

So defensive colin. usually when a xbot fanboy comes in here and starts talking smack everyone jumps on him and attacks his post. But now im getting "Go start your own blog". Is it different when a PS3 owner says something? or is it just to hard to argue with the truth because it hurts too much? I just wanted to start a "FRIENDLY" conversation.

funny how the idea of "give it time" got lost almost within the exact post. eh? When the rest of posts are all about not having good games THIS year. and frankly, this year isn't even over.
let's see. Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden, LAIR, WarHammer (or something like that), Next year, FFXIII, FFXIII versus, DMC4, TG, MGS.
I know I miss a lot of games there, but if the idea is to 'give it time', what are we talking about here?

It is tiresome. This is a post about a game that is of interest to the PS3 community. If you want to have a 'voice' about your Xbox collection there are plenty of places to do so (I suggested blogger but there are others).
I come to PS3 fanboy to read news and opinions on the PS3...not lists and diatribes concerning another consoles. Just a stretch but I would think the majority of visitors to this site are here for the same thing. If people visiting PS3Fanboy wanted to see what games are available for another console I'm sure they could find their way over to a little site called Xbox360Fanboy so satiate themsleves. Nick has even made it easy by including a link on the right of this very screen that you can click on to be whisked away.
Should I list off all the Atari 2600 games I had in year one? Maybe all the games I had for my Mono Gameboy? No? ... Why?...Oh, right. It isn't relevant to this post.

And before you argue saying "but, it came out a year later and they are just ports".
Well, what did you expect. The PS3 wasn't released until a year later, therefore, they are now coming out to the PS3.
Also, games are personal preference so what interests you may not interest me and vis-versa.

How much time? That is my question. 1 year should be more than enough time. And no this year is not over but there are release list for you to see what is coming out for the rest of the year. Releasing 3 or 4 games for the rest of this year is not something to be proud of. And when you name games coming out stick to exclusives, DMC4 is multiplatform... And we all know which system has the better version of multiplatform games (Call of Duty 3 anyone?) And what is TG?

The sad part is no, you did not miss a lot of games. Maybe 2 or 3, big woops. Meanwhile you can go on and on about the Microsoft releases.

This is an opinion on the PS3. I didnt make a post just to say what 360 games I have or to say what the 360's release schedule is. I did it to make a COMPARISON between 2 competitors. But the fact that no one can make a sound argument against what I have said just goes to show...

Actually, I think most of the games you mentioned where also released on the PS2 as well. I think it's actually worse to have the same games as a last-gen system then a same-gen one. The arguement you gave for the 360 games can also be applied to the PS3. Besides, there could be alot of games coming out that haven't even been announced yet. Who knows what might pop up unannounced to the party?

Killzone- Has anyone actually seen in game footage of this game? I know I havent and I bet you havent either. Unlikely 2007 release.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune- Looks interesting, but would like to see in-game FOOTAGE and not just screen shots, and unlikely for a 2007 release.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma- This is gonna look good in 1080p, im excited for it cuz I didnt finish the XBOX version.

Yes I have those games, and actually more since I was only talking about the first year. I am not rich but I am only 23 (just got out of school) and live at home and have a decent job so I am fortunate to be able to buy a lot of games. And I was not trying to brag about the games I own, only make a point.

What did I lie about? The release list is right there at EBGames.com for you to check. And if you think I am lying about the games I own you say you have a 360 then look up my gamercard (The Sh0wstopper, a space in the name and a zero as the first O). You can see the list of games I have.

What about me? I made a comment, too. I'd like to hear what you have to say to it. What I said was that most of the games you said you had were also for the PS2. Why is it that games that are both for the 360 and PS3 don't count for the PS3, but games for both the 360 and PS2 count for the 360?
Also, there is a good chance that there will be alot of games coming out that won't be listed. Like games from Japan or some secret project from Sony. Not every game is going to be as publized as some of the other games coming out.

MOST of the games I named are NOT out for PS2, a few are but the vast majority of them are not. Actually the only games that are out for PS2 that I named are Madden, Hitman and NFS, thats only 3 games. I named prolly about (or over) 20 games. if 3 is the majority of 20 then no wonder you are a PS3 fanboy you prolly agree with all the numbers Sony tells you. Go over the list again...
As for your argument of games coming out that have not been listed that point applies for both systems, so it cancels each other out. Actually which one do you think has MORE unannounced games? Last time I checked it was a lot easier to program for the 360, and developers have a lot more experience with it. So the point of unannouced games might actually work against PS3.

There Might have been a few more but I can't remember. I think next time you yourself should check what you wrote down before you start calling people shit. Maybe then you would stop making up your own reality. Just because you say something doesn't make it true, no matter how much you want to believe it.
For example, your claim that the PS3 is difficult to program for is old. Sony has already released the Edge Dev Kit. Now developers are saying how much easier it is to program for and how limitless the power of the PS3 seems to be.
Sony has always made games that help show people the power of the system. like Shadow of the Collossus and God of War. Those games were a surprise for everybody. I for one never would have thought they would be as good as they were.
And besides, Microsoft has always been more vocal about the games coming out on it's system. That's the reason they get as much hype as they do. Remember Fable? Piece of junk game that was. It was supposed to be the "best RPG ever". The reason it did so well was because of all that hype. Then they release it and it was just terrible.

Ha, fun conversations. The games coming this year for the 360 this year are much more interesting to me, which is why I am buying a 360 this summer. For some people, the upcoming PS3 games are more interesting, and that is perfectly fine, it's just a difference in opinion. Seriously, the arguement that the PS3 has no good games and won't is stupid, and it's not even valid any more. The PS3 DOES have some good games, and it will be getting even more. Coming this November is one year for the PS3, and it was one year for the 360 when they started releasing really good games like Gears of War. So yea. Cool games for both systems. Amazing, isn't it?

Your right a few of those games were on PS2. But do you really wanna compare a PS2 version of a game with 360 version? Fight Night was basically a completely different game (if you played it for both then you know what i mean). BURNOUT WAS A DIFFERENT GAME ALTOGETHER. And the big difference is that the 360 has the SUPERIOR version. Maybe if sony could boast that with any game except Spiderman then maybe the point would be mute. But all multi platform games are superior on the 360 version and you get the big whammy which is XBOX LIVE. And the sad part is that is one advantage that the 360 will have over the ps3 for a long time and POSSIBLY this whole war is having the better multi-platform games. The 360 is easier to program for so that will be the system that the games are originally developed on and then ported over to the PS3. THAT IS HUGE!!! which brings ne to what you said about the development... IT IS HARD TO DEVELOP FOR!!! you wanna know why DEVELOPERS ARE LAZY!!! You mention the EDGE DEV KIT well i got 3 letters for you XNA!!! The 360 is a lot easier to program for... not to mention the extra ram in the system cant hurt (also the reason why EPIC said GoW cant be done on PS3). If the dev kits are soooo good then why are these games taking forever to come out? Splinter Cell took forever, GRAW2 still isnt out and then Lord knows where Rainbow Six is. Oblivion finally came out.

And yes I do remember Fable. Was it what they promised? NO. Was a really good game? YES!!! I want to believe that PS3 will win this war. I like what it would do for gaming. If the Wii won then everyone would make stupid gimmicky cheap old gen graphic systems. But PS3 shows that we want High end bleeding edge Tech and will pay for it. If you have ever read any of my posts then you would know how much i love my PS3. But I am extremely dissapointed in what SONY done outside of making a great piece of hardware.
