Get DiiiiiRTy with us today -- 3 new videos!
If you love rolling around in the mud like us, then you'll love watching cars doing similarly exciting things! We've got three exciting gameplay videos of Colin Mc Rae's DiRT and let us just say: it looks darn-tootin' good. We're not sure why, in the video above, the game goes from what seems to be actual gameplay to the whole cinematic "you finished the race!" angle, though we assume the user is just testing out all the different camera angle options like in the third video we've got posted. The narrator/guy telling you to watch out for whatever's ahead is sort of annoying, too. Optional, we hope. Anyway, the other two videos will be stuck under our continued link -- check them out, too.

that isn't a narrator, I'm pretty sure that is your co-pilot calling out upcoming obstacles and turns.
Brent @ May 3rd 2007 4:38PM
That's right, for example. "Sixty, Right, Six" Distance to the turn, direction of the turn, Suggested Gear. This game looks sick, I love playing Motorstorm but this focuses on the realism where Motorstorm is metal mud slinging mayhem. I'm not sure if i'll rent or buy this game but it looks great. :)

I would guess navigator as well since this IS a rally car race.
ndoerr @ May 3rd 2007 3:45PM
Nope, never been to a race of any sort -- rally or otherwise. I live in Atlanta. There are hardly dirt roads anywhere near me. Is it really so hard to believe? I don't think it makes me stupid. Unaware of how rally races work, yes. Stupid? No. Saying that, however, is pretty ignorant.

Hey Anthony...I'm in Canada...please explain the sport of Sledge Hockey to me...
Naaiif @ May 3rd 2007 4:32PM
"Thats the most stupid thing i have ever heard.hahahaha"
You know what's even more stupid? Your broken space bar, HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA - NO!
Anyway, this game looks a bit bland, the car looks pretty but the environment in that video was SO repetitive. Let's see, there were a few rocks, and a bit of grass. This game doesn't stand up to Motorstorm, not graphically or fun-wise.

@Nick....
I watched Dukes of Hazard (the original)...you do so have dirt roads in Georgia.
;)

Have you never seen rallying in your life?
that's a good one lol "narrator"
lmao
Louis @ May 3rd 2007 6:59PM
Wow, PS3 owners are dicks. Rallying isn't even on the map in the States. I don't think not knowing something about regional sports makes you stupid.
As for the game, it looks incredible, I wonder if these are 360 vids though because that lighting has 360 HDR plastic written all over it.
I will get this game the day it comes out and laugh in the face of boring old MotorStorm.
JollyRotten @ May 3rd 2007 8:06PM
Sweet mother of all things holy!! I hope they can make the engine noises sound better than that for the final game.
I don't care if that car's engine actually sounds like that in real life, It sounds bloody awful and will spoil the game for me.
Pleeeeeeease make an effort on the audio. And if you can make the cars grunt, grind, judder, pop and gurgle depending on how you're driving them, even better.

I've been waiting for a video of this game.
While I don't mind the 30 fps framerate, because it's steady, I am troubled by the fact that not once was there an in-car camera, ala GT4/Forza.
Who drives a 'simulation' behind the car?
I thought I would want this, but if the developers are creating the game by driving behind the car, I'm not sure when I'm going to start caring.
Color me Meh.
ck @ May 4th 2007 2:44AM
My god. I hope that's development footage.
WHERE'S THE DUST?
OK, so there's a little when he's drifting on the corners, but last time I checked you can't dive 150kph on a gravel road without kicking up a huge cloud of dust for several hundred metres. Way to spoil the realism.
Ya, I'm not American. You guessed.
james stringer @ May 4th 2007 6:44AM
Yeah seems as though they forgot to add the dust when the camera goes back to cinimatic view...hopefully thatll be worked out...
unkn @ May 5th 2007 4:01AM
Uhm... All simulation rally games have a co driver, or a GPS. I've never played a game where you can't turn them off.
Yes, I own motorstorm, but I think this will probebly be more fun to me. I'm a huge fan of simulation racing games, and would gladly take this game over any action racing game.
The way the cars sway and control looks fantastic! Hopefully it's online!
Ciaran Gallagher @ May 4th 2007 1:30PM
JOHN, there is a in-car view. Take a look at all three videos. In one of them, you can see all the different viewpoints, including a quite detailed interior car views :D

Audio. Frame tearing. Brown. Fix them. Please. Hairpin right.
