Gundam comes to America, gets a silly title
According to IGN, Namco Bandai confirmed today that Gundam Musou will be released in North America under the new moniker Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. It is scheduled to come out towards the end of summer on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 platforms. The game sold well in Japan, but not up to Namco Bandai's expectations. They had expected it to have an attach rate of over 50% though, which seems a tad high for this game. So maybe they were being a bit overly optimistic. Regardless though, it makes sense that they would expand the release market to increase their revenue return.
Hopefully this will be better than their previous PS3 Gundam attempt. The Japanese reviews were favorable, and the Dynasty Warrior games have always been a guilty pleasure of mine, but the graphics don't look real hot and the DW formula has grown a little stale. Also that new name bugs the hell out of me. It's descriptive sure, but it makes me think of this guy.

>Dynasty Warriors: Gundam
it's a joke, right? That's the dumbest name ever. man, it's going to bomb just from that.
the game doesn't look TOO bad, but it doesn't look next-gen, so, unless it comes out between tomorrow to Ninja Gaiden/next big A game, I'm not getting it.

Wow, good timing on that... I was on the verge of importing it. Now I can rent it and decide I can't stand the horrible enemy AI I've seen in the videos so I don't have to buy it... oops.

Stupid name but another PS3 game goes multiplatform.
At first I didn't believe the talk that Namco had to sell 500,000 copies of their first PS3 games to break even but this lends more credibility to the statement.
Here’s hoping future PS3 games will be much lighter on developers and publishers wallets.
The Wii and Xbox360 seem to have the casual and hardcore markets covered respectively ATM but there’s still hope for the PS3 if it can lock down the right games.
The PS3 needs exclusives and fast.

The PS3 needs to stop relying on only three third-party exclusives. MGS4 and the two big FFXIII games launch, and then what? Hopefully they'll stumble across another great third-party game. What that game is--is currently unknown, but it has to happen.

Sony do have some great first party series such as GoW, GT and Singstar and good second party support.
The PS3 is going to have less third party support than the Xbox360 and it'll be interesting to see if this makes a difference in the long run.

"Sony do have some great first party series such as GoW, GT and Singstar"
Flip thats alot of games right there lol
STill your right its all about 1st party games this game to sell the systems/ tho Sony like to sell the system on hardware specs alone
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam lmao why not just Gundam Warriors

>MGS4 and the two big FFXIII games launch,
Same thing with xbox, After Halo and Gears of War franchise, what's there? And both are first party (Gear I believe is published by Microsoft)
Nintendo is the only firs party title console, and it lacks third party support, so I guess you win some, you lose some
>3. Stupid name but another PS3 game goes multiplatform.
Where did it say this game is going to xbox? Not that I have any problem with it, I'd be shocked if this game sold over 100K on xbox in NA.

@kingofwale
It says right in the post that it's coming for PS3 and Xbox 360. And, there's a HUGE possibility of it selling a lot better on the 360 in NA, simply due to install base alone (6 million vs 1.5 million). Not only that, but the attach rate of 360 users is quite high, even in Japan.
It really will come down to 1st party games. Almost every third party developer is crossing over, save for MGS4 and the "official" FFXIII games.

What's so stupid about the name? It exactly describes what the game is: Dynasty Warriors with a Gundam theme.
Might as well try and snag Dynasty Warrior fans by putting it in the title rather than limit the market to only Gundam fans.
