RUMOR: Command and Conquer 3 coming to PS3 and Wii?
Here's another rumor to satisfy your hunger for all things curious and interesting -- Command and Conquer 3 might just make its way onto the PS3 and Wii, in addition to its upcoming release on the 360 and the couple-of-weeks-age release on the PC. Since the game is getting tossed around by EA, we're hardly surprised. About the PS3 version, Senior Producer Mike Glosecki said: "I don't see why it's not feasible," citing also how the controls are nearly identical. The Wii version really does add a new breath of life to RTS titles -- in our opinion, it would be the best console version to get. Why? The motion sensor would really make moving around the map simple and highlighting groups would be a snap (just think, holding the trigger button and using another button to select specific troops, kind of like how ctrl+click works on the PC). Wait. Is it ctrl+click? The last RTS game Nick done played on the computer was Dune 2000. Well, you get the idea. The issue with the Wii version is the lack of power. The game won't look as good, says Glosecki. Which version would you guys ultimately buy if your PC somehow exploded into tiny bits?

Please make the ps3 version include usb mouse support.
Andir3.0 @ May 9th 2007 1:40PM
If my PC blew up? I'd buy the version for the only "next-gen" (this gen?) console I cared to purchase. The PS3 of course!
kingofwale @ May 9th 2007 1:40PM
if this game doesn't support keyboard and mouse on PS3, it can shove this up their you-know-where.
and for Wii users, are they going to dumb it down tho? and I don't think Wii will be fast enough to run this.
sean @ May 9th 2007 1:58PM
i would buy it if it had mouse and keyboard support. maybe a rental if it doesnt.
KillarClown @ May 9th 2007 2:21PM
I would want to play it on NES with a Power Glove.
Bored @ May 9th 2007 2:23PM
On Wii, the watered down graphics will surely be more than compensated by the use of the Wiimote.
OrganicShadow @ May 9th 2007 2:49PM
I will require exactly:
1 Demo of this game
1 Bag of garlic parmesan kettle-cooked chips
1 Bottle of Jones Soda
At least the 360/PS3 versions will have "waggle" support due to supporting cameras(pointed at our crotches...get it? waggle?).
Shoaib @ May 9th 2007 2:57PM
if it does come out on PS3 ill eat my hat (even though i dont own one).
kingofwale @ May 9th 2007 3:06PM
>On Wii, the watered down graphics will surely be more than compensated by the use of the Wiimote.
Didn't they also say that about Far-Cry.
Wiimote doesn't not equal mouse and keyboard.

"Which version would you guys ultimately buy if your PC somehow exploded into tiny bits?"
Hmmm gee let me think about this... The major selling point of the game is the online skirmish mode. ONLINE!!! So I guess that would mean I would get it for the console with the BEST online capabilities. What a coincidence because that is the same system I will be picking it up for TODAY!!!

I'm thinking Bored was using hyperbole.

>10. I'm thinking Bored was using hyperbole.
you might call it "hyperbole", I call it "Nintendo philosophy"
Aaron @ May 9th 2007 3:20PM
Cool if it comes out for th ePS3 I will get it for that instead of the 360 version.
Real Gambler @ May 9th 2007 4:17PM
I definitive "maybe" but agreed, has to come with mouse and keyboard support (bluetooth may I add.... USB works great but no wires is better : )
alienclay @ May 9th 2007 4:26PM
i use a wireless usb mouse and keyboard. it can't be that hard to add usb support. bluetoth would be great but i htink sony needs to firm that up on their side of things first (in the xmb) to see that in games.
Next-Gen-Gamer @ May 9th 2007 4:42PM
"Didn't they also say that about Far-Cry."
No. In fact, I recall everyone saying the opposite about Far Cry: Vengeance, even before it's release.
"Wiimote doesn't not equal mouse and keyboard."
Because you would know, being the almighty God of Wii. Give me a break. Even if the Wiimote didn't equal mouse/keyboard for this game, how would you know? Did you play the currently non-existent C&C3 Wii game?
"you might call it "hyperbole", I call it "Nintendo philosophy""
Silly kow. It'd be "Nintendo philosophy" if Nintendo was the company making horrible games. They're not. Its a few third-party developers who just want to port everything over as fast as possible. You should know that, considering your original example was Far Cry. Unless of course you're implying that every Wii game is like that, in which case, you're a moron.
Yeesh. The guy acts like he's never seen a shitty third-party game before.
kingofwale @ May 9th 2007 5:46PM
>Because you would know, being the almighty God of Wii.
let's go with the idea of deduction, shall we?
And you would know to disagree with me? Yeah, because FPS games on Wii works flawlessly like ones on PC with keyboard and mouse combo.
or because when you accidentally take the pointer off TV, you NEVER go into an endless spin like you do in CoD3. I wonder if the PC version does that with keyboard an mouse. hmmmm
Next-Gen-Gamer @ May 9th 2007 6:06PM
"And you would know to disagree with me? Yeah, because FPS games on Wii works flawlessly like ones on PC with keyboard and mouse combo."
Really? And since when was Command and Conquer a FPS franchise?
"or because when you accidentally take the pointer off TV, you NEVER go into an endless spin like you do in CoD3. I wonder if the PC version does that with keyboard an mouse. hmmmm"
Again, you're talking about a game that, as of now, doesn't even exist. You make it sound like its impossible for a RTS on Wii to act similar to a PC RTS. As if that huge assumption wasn't enough, you decided to base it on a FPS title.
kingofwale @ May 9th 2007 6:17PM
>Really? And since when was Command and Conquer a FPS franchise?
who was talking about C&C? have I ever mentioned C&C in any of my post? All I'm saying is, Wiimote does not equal Keyboard and mouse. it's obvious in all games.
and frankly, it doesn't take a genius to see this game will SUCK on Wii (in sooo many ways, from graphic prowess to controls) unless you disagree otherwise, we can always just wait and see.
OrganicShadow @ May 9th 2007 6:27PM
Are you two going to take off your training bras and start slapping the shit out of eachother with them?
Next-Gen-Gamer @ May 9th 2007 6:31PM
"who was talking about C&C? have I ever mentioned C&C in any of my post? All I'm saying is, Wiimote does not equal Keyboard and mouse. it's obvious in all games."
If you're not talking about C&C, then why are you even talking? Did you you forget where you were? Read the title of this entry. As for the Wiimote not equalling keyboard/mouse, tell me how many RTS games you know about on Wii? After all, this is about a RTS (not a FPS). Prior to Lionhead being purchased by Microsoft, Peter Molyneux stated (in an episode of the now-cancelled G4TV.com) that the Wii is perfect for point-and-click games. While I would agree that such a statement doesn't PROVE anything, it sure gives a little more hope for the Wii.
"we can always just wait and see."
At least you finally said it. That's what I've been trying to tell you. You don't know because it doesn't exist. And if it does exist, you still don't know, because it isn't out yet. Wait and see.
kingofwale @ May 9th 2007 6:31PM
>Are you two going to take off your training bras and start slapping the shit out of eachother with them?
why? would that turn you on? ;)
and yeah, that's why we are still using the barbaric method of solving an disagreement.. the Method of using words
Colin @ May 9th 2007 6:34PM
Maybe they'll just release C&C N64 to the VC?
kingofwale @ May 9th 2007 6:34PM
>Wii is perfect for point-and-click games
see, there's the difference, Wii is "theoretically" perfect for point and click games, if the motion sensor is perfect, which it isn't
In fact, Wii is even MORE perfect (if that's possible) theoretically for FPS games, but we all know how that turned out. :)
Colin @ May 9th 2007 6:36PM
And as an aside WHY THE HECK ARE WE ARGUING ABOUT A GAME FOR GC 1 1/2 anyway. This is PS3Fanboy isn't it?
kingofwale @ May 9th 2007 6:43PM
*shrugs*, Nextgen gamer here seems to be thinking C&C is the god sent for Wii because it will play flawlessly.
and as for Wii = GC1 1/2.. are you sure about that? so far, Best ranked GC game (RE4) is much better than best ranked Wii game (Zelda)
I have to say, it's more like GC .75. :)
Next-Gen-Gamer @ May 9th 2007 6:44PM
Is it impossible for the Wii to better resemble mouse/keyboard in one genre than another? You can't keep using the FPS excuse when discussing RTS. Does C&C3 play like Perfect Dark: Zero?
Next-Gen-Gamer @ May 9th 2007 6:49PM
"Nextgen gamer here seems to be thinking C&C is the god sent for Wii because it will play flawlessly."
You are aware that you were mentioning the Nintendo/Wii in posts 3, 9, and 12, correct? Its not like I just randomly started up about the Wii.
I also said nothing about C&C3 being a godsend. In fact, not but minutes ago, I just pointed out that you proved my point. Its a wait-and-see situation. And that's even if the game exists. Of course, through your vast knowledge of this entire situation, clearly that means C&C3 is coming to Wii.
Colin @ May 9th 2007 6:50PM
If an infrared pointing device was superior to using a mouse and keyboard for playing RTS games it would have been implemented in this fashion on PCs a long time ago where the power and tech to implement such a device has existed for years.
Since it hasn't found a market in PC usage I would assume this is because it is not suitable for this type of game.
Instead of trying to convince yourself that the Wii controller is manna, spend some effort getting Nintendo to implement open standards that allow for a keyboard and mouse on that machine of yours.
Next-Gen-Gamer @ May 9th 2007 6:58PM
"Instead of trying to convince yourself that the Wii controller is manna, spend some effort getting Nintendo to implement open standards that allow for a keyboard and mouse on that machine of yours."
The point obviously went right over your head. I'm not saying the Wiimote is just like mouse/keyboard. I'm not saying its as acurrate. I'm not even saying this game is any good (I despise the RTS genre). The entire point was that some people are jumping the gun on judging a game that, as far as we know, doesn't even exist. I don't consider the Wii 'my machine', considering I'm fortunate enough to play all three any time I want.
Bangbang... @ May 9th 2007 7:47PM
I have to say I agree with kingofwale. The wii remote sucks in first person shooters(and most other games too). Hell to be perfectly honest with you I have only played 2 wii games that didnt have shitty controls, Wario Ware and Zelda.
To get back on topic, I doubt it will support keyboard and mouse via usb. The 360 has always supported a keyboard and mouse setup via usb and EA didnt make it an option for LOTR or C&C3.
Also his comments about the controls for the ps3 being nearly identical lead me to believe that they would use the same control system with a little bit of sixaxis support(probably to the rotate camera) thrown in for good measure. But RTS games are best played on PCs anyway.
2Perfect @ May 9th 2007 7:54PM
I wouldn't buy it for a console.
That's like buying a racing game for a PC. I did. Without a driving pad, it's almost pointless to play.
yomanDS @ May 9th 2007 9:33PM
I would love to play some C&C on wii. Ever since I became a console gamer again I haven't been keeping up on the newer RTS games. The wiimote could help the transition from PC RTS to console RTS. The latest RTS I've played is Age of Mythology :P Yeah I'm pretty behind.
sam @ May 12th 2007 1:03PM
This would be the perfect time to release a USB keyboard for the Wii.
sam @ May 12th 2007 1:12PM
and as for Wii = GC1 1/2.. are you sure about that? so far, Best ranked GC game (RE4) is much better than best ranked Wii game (Zelda)

By your logic no game system is next gen because the NES has games with better reviews than any ps3/wii/360 game out rirght now
