How about a video of your favorite Home?
If you weren't one of the lucky few to have been selected for PlayStation Home's closed beta testing, we've got a shaky hand-cam surprise for you today! A user-made video over at GameTrailers details a lot of what's going on in PS Home, from what it looks like in general to what you can accomplish. The man's character walks over and watches the trailer for Gran Turismo (HD, we're about 110% certain). It's neat.
We chose this video because it was the longest -- it details the mini-games available for now, the movie theater, even a little announcement for the October 2007 public launch. However, the man is speaking Spanish. It's a different dialect than what I had been taught, so it might even be Italian. Don't worry, his narrative isn't necessary. Feel free to mute the video, but let us know what you think!

All the avatars seem to be skinny metrosexual/emo types... what if you want to be a midget or an overweight slob?
Mishi @ May 13th 2007 11:07AM
uhh yeah that's not spanish, so maybe it is Italion.
AL7AIR @ May 13th 2007 11:18AM
That'll be Catalan if my ears are not fooling me.
Other than that: It's a free download so I'll take a closer look when it's available. The videos look promising in regard of the mini-games and the cinema, but what I really wanna see and try is the party system for games that will be integrated.
Iscar1ot @ May 13th 2007 11:46AM
Its italian just to clear things up
MrSkip @ May 13th 2007 12:17PM
Sony please just give us a better online experience in the games that will be released similar to Live. I guess I might be in the small minority of PS3 owners who bought the console to play games / movies instead of using it for this purpose.
idreamofsteel @ May 13th 2007 1:59PM
humpty, just because someone is skinny or FIT doesnt mean that they are metro or emo.
This video isnt really that great. Everything we have already seen from the E3 walkthrough.
massive_98 @ May 13th 2007 12:52PM
What more do you want in online from a game like Resistance or Motorstorm? It's just the 3rd party devolopers that are not puting in the effort to make online good on the PS3.
>>>>
Home looks pretty awesome but I would rather be playing games then walking around in a 3D world. Still a really great idea.
Justin @ May 13th 2007 1:05PM
you guys keep complaining about how you'd rather play games blah blah blah like Sony has declared that HOME is their final project on the PS3 and no more games will ever be made. Don't like HOME? Don't participate. Want to play games? Either wait (as if you haven't seen the games that are on their way), or go play an oh-so-exclusive 360.
I play my 360 about 1/10th of the time I play my PS3.
I paid for XBOX Live last year and have played about 1 or 2 online match of Rainbow Six: Vegas. I won't be re-subscribing to Live.
I play Motorstorm online more times than offline.
HOME is fee, PSN is free. If Sony charged you for it, you paid for it, and it wasn't all it was cracked up to be, THEN complain.
Justin @ May 13th 2007 1:05PM
Home is free*
MrSkip @ May 13th 2007 1:27PM
Ok yea but most of our games will be coming from those 3rd party developers so why keep getting the same crappy online experience. RFOM and Motorstorm are both very boring and old at the moment so hopefully future games will be a lot better than just spending all my time in some virtual world.
massive_98 @ May 13th 2007 1:34PM
You realize I only have a PS3 and have no plans to get a 360. Maybe get a Wii once they actually have some games.
asdf @ May 13th 2007 1:37PM
It´s Italian, 100% secure.
Extinction @ May 13th 2007 1:57PM
"hahaha talk about irony, eh massive_98? you bought a ps3, but are waiting to buy a wii til it has more games? hahahah"
How is that ironic? I too own a PS3, but won't get a Wii till it has games. Wii's current line up is composed of glorified tech demos and minigames. It's only good game is available for Cube. PS3 however has many games I want. Wii does not. And with the recent announcement that Nintendo isn't making any more Zelda games, it probably never will have a game I want.
massive_98 @ May 13th 2007 3:01PM
Thanks 14. In retrospect I should have waited a little before I got my PS3. But I'm happy with Resistance and Motorstorm until fall.
>>>>
I heard Wii doesn't have any online games yet? Anyways I'll get my Wii when there are games that I want like Super Smash Bros.
yomanDS @ May 13th 2007 3:02PM
"Maybe get a Wii once they actually have some games."
-Trauma Center
-Excite Truck
-Paper Mario
-Zelda
-Elebits
-SSX Blur
-Warioware
-Rayman
-Sonic & Secret Rings
-Monkey Ball
-GodFather: Blackhand Edition
All the games listed above have received good reviews by reliable gaming sites. The wii has pretty damn good selection for how long its been out.
"And with the recent announcement that Nintendo isn't making any more Zelda games, it probably never will have a game I want."
No more zelda? Don't count on it. Never a game you want? You just blew my mind. I don't know how a real gamer could say something like that. I feel violated just reading something like that.
Considering I don't have any interest in PShome, I don't know why I watched that video. More importantly I don't know how I got to defending the wii AGAIN. Someone has do it I suppose ;)
I don't want to go home, I'll stick with the games.
massive_98 @ May 13th 2007 3:17PM
Godfather doesn't deserve to be on that list.
Monkey ball was a fun idea the first time around but now its lame
SSX looks worse on the Wii than it did on the PS2
Excite Truck is like Motorstorm without graphics and exploding parts.
Warioware is comprised of stupid mini games.
I've never heard of Elebits
Trauma centre sounds like a medical game.
Sonic is too boring of a platformer
Other than that the rest of the games look fun. But I still don't have $200 for a Wii. Spent all my money on my PS3.
massive_98 @ May 13th 2007 3:41PM
Just did some research on Elebits, worst game of the bunch, Instead of playing hide and go seek on a tv get some friends and play it with them.
yomanDS @ May 13th 2007 5:39PM

Read the closing comments and score overview. The wii version is the highest rated out of all versions.
"Monkey ball was a fun idea the first time around but now its lame"
I can't rightfully blame you for getting bored with a franchise such as monkeyball but the games do have a strong following.
"SSX looks worse on the Wii than it did on the PS2"
No. I don't know what to say besides no it doesn't. Have you seen blur in motion?
"Excite Truck is like Motorstorm without graphics and exploding parts."
Not even close. Not even remotely close.

That link will take to an absolutly massive neogaf Excite Truck appeciation thread. The game uses extremely exaggerated speed and physics. To quote one of the posts "Imagine driving in a truck. Then driving over a hill. THEN FLYING A MINDBLOWING DISTANCE AND FIRE EVERYWHERE FIRE FIREEEE!!!" Excite and Motorstorm are completely different animals.
"Warioware is comprised of stupid mini games."
Not a fan of the mini games eh?
"Trauma centre sounds like a medical game."
I wonder why??? It's good but not amazing.
"Sonic is too boring of a platformer"
I guess saying it's the best 3D sonic game doesn't say a whole lot.
"Just did some research on Elebits, worst game of the bunch, Instead of playing hide and go seek on a tv get some friends and play it with them."
Hardly the same thing. Do some more "research". The pointer control rocks. http://wii.ign.com/articles/750/750468p2.html

home will also act as the launch pad for online play for a lot of games! Sony said that this could be the frame work, for the publishers that don't have the online network capablities for supporting online gameplay! and, you won't need to log into home to play games online...it'll be an optiion you have to make things a lil more interesting!
Justin @ May 13th 2007 6:17PM
@ 9, my post was a response to #5
sean @ May 13th 2007 6:58PM
wahts that in game phone thing? when he was lookin in PSP after showing the game room place and goin to theater? i think thats what it said hard to read
mamardilla69 @ May 13th 2007 10:13PM
STFU Carlos thats the reason because some countries just think about of mexico when saying taco, burrito or mariachi because ppl like you make us look really "ignorants" btw im mexican too
walrus brown @ May 13th 2007 11:57PM
The arguing in these comments is ridiculous.
There is no reason to complain about home, it is free, it is just a graphical front end to what I hear is a live-like accessable back end. Complaining about free service is ridiculous. If you want an xbox out of the ps3... why don't you just play 360? I am so confused by all this.
gamer @ May 14th 2007 5:48AM
I love the idea of Home. It's like when my 360 worked and I had the PSU demo. Except this seems to be way better!
Wayne @ May 14th 2007 6:55AM
That's a kinda disappointing video. I'm a huge PS fan, never owned anything else, but that was kinda boring..
malps3 @ May 16th 2007 4:13PM
Heard from an insider that the public beta is coming in "a few weeks". He has the beta running at home and swears by it.. can't wait!
