RUMOR: Pro Evolution Soccer '07 to look far better on PS3?
According to one of them fancy anonymous insiders over at Konami, we've got a tidbit of news that may interest the Sony loyalist in all of us. This insider posted on a Korean forum that the upcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 will look drastically superior on the PlayStation 3 compared to its lovable rival, the Xbox 360.The claim stems from the extra capacity afforded to the game thanks to Blu-ray, allowing for additional content and supposedly graphical superiority. It is rumored that the game currently takes up 18GB on the Blu-ray disc, but is smooshed down to 7GB on the 360's dual-layer DVD. An added perk will be the 60fps claim -- not just that PES '07 will have it, but the PS3's rendition of it will top the competition.
While this should be marvelous news, we aren't buying it. The PlayStation 3 just recently got a launch date in Korea, so of course there's going to be some skeptical stuff popping up on Korean forums that's supposed to build up expectations. Chances are the games will look mostly identical. But it's nice to dream. We'll figure it out when we get some of those nifty comparison videos running.

Well part of me is hoping this to be true to show others that disc capacity do matter. But then the 360 side will say the programmers are lazy and if Gears of War can look that good in one disc so should the soccer game. We shall see...

Fantastic article, dude, from 15 months ago. are you going to list another one saying Moore Code will be the peak of inter-continental communication from last century?

considering the fact that ProEvo looks like a complete sh!t on 360, I'd be disappointed if the PS3 version looks the same. It's not about the power of the machine that's making the difference here though. UEFA chapions league for 360 from EA looks hundred times better than ProEvo for 360.

Isnt PES 2007 already out and only on PS2 and 360? Konami stated clearly that there will be no PS3 PES 2007 and that the series will start its PS3 life with PES 2008. Im thinking that this headline is supposed to say PES 2008.

@Kompressor,
Isn't Blue dragon on more than 1 disc?
And thats nice to see that XBOX 1 games only grew 77%. Too bad they did not have HD video on them. Also they did not support 7.1 surround sound... actually now that I think about it neither does 360 ;)
Also last time I checked DEVELOPERS such as Rockstar has already said that they disc space has limited them.
I digress.

"Also last time I checked DEVELOPERS such as Rockstar has already said that they disc space has limited them."
Ummmm....yeah wrong topic. Rockstar said that the limitation of the sku unit with no harddrive 360 was limiting them. Not the disc space. It was HARDDRIVE SPACE not the disc space. Nice spin though.
So who are those developers agian? Your example was put to sleep. So you might want to think of another one.

pes has never cared about graphics so i dont expect anything different from the next.
I heard they have the prem license which would complete the game

Actually it was both. Not one, BOTH. Nice spin though

When will you people realize that despite any fantasy benefit you will get from Blu-Ray...the reality is that Blu-Ray is killing the PS3!@#!@#$%@
The $600 price tag is slowing adoption
which is causing developers to hold off on titles
which is causing folks to buy other systems
which is slowing adoption...etc. etc.

Kompressor: Fantastic article indeed, even if its mainly shit. So if xbox games averaged 3.2 gigs in size 2005, and xbox360 games currently average about 6.5 gigs (they do, i just checked).
Doesnt that mean - according to the article - that the games should average about 12 gigs in 2 years? and 24 gigs in 4 years?
And even worse - their average on xbox360 launchtitles was 4.2 gigs. Second generation 360-titles were already at about 6 gigs average.
Extra space, not needed. Indeed.

This is bullshit since the game is released on PC, PS3 and Xbox360, and PS3 is the only one to support more space than a dual layer DVD space on a single disc, and to face EA's Fifa Soccer they actually NEED to be multiplatform and more or less equal on all these platforms...
More over, A soccer game only features some small soccer fields, and some textures for the players, how can those "little" elements fit a whole BluRay when an entire game like Half Life 2 Episode One and all its complex world and elements, and Hi-res textures takes less than 5 gigabytes on my hard drive ?
If it's true, Konami devellopers should take some programming and optimisation courses in the US...
