A second SOCOM to come from original developers

Reaction to the newly unveiled SOCOM Confrontation was mixed at best. The multiplayer-only title is being developed by Slant Six Games (also responsible for the new PSP title SOCOM: Tactical Strike). While the prospects of playing on a 32-player online battlefield is exciting enough, many commented on the barren, uninspired look of the game.

Worry not -- there's yet another SOCOM game in the works from the series' original creators. Zipper is starting work on its own SOCOM title, but as 1UP points out, it's going to be a long way off -- most likely late next year. Unlike Confrontation, which will launch this November, Zipper's own title will feature a single-player campaign in addition to the requisite multiplayer modes. While we hope Confrontation turns out to be a worthy addition to the SOCOM franchise, we're somewhat relieved to know that a true sequel is still in the works.

(I've never played a Socom game before so this should be good)

Confrontation as I understand, will be a downloadable title. I'm sure framerates, animations, and graphics will be tightened up a bit, but it's not likely going to be a powerhouse title. It's multiplayer only, and it's likely that it's going to be going the route of fair visuals, but high framerates.

What was Zipper doing all this time? I have been a socom player since the first socom game came out. I dont want Slant six making this game. Socom is the ONLY reason I bought a ps3 was to play socom. Not a add on PSN title. Im done with sony, I should have got the 360 like everyone else I know.

I just felt like making a list. Socom sounds like a pretty fun game. Getting tired of online only games. I mean I love online(especially when its free) but I like playing single player too.

It lets me try out a game so I don't make a fool of myself during online.

Yeah, those are all good exclusives. But, the fact is that out of all three next gen consoles we have the least coming. I think this confontation socom should just be canceled because it will not be worthy enough to be in the socom family. This game was made just to buy zipper more time..

Anyway whilst not graphically spectacular i've heard socom games are good, so i might pick this up when the time comes.

yes its sandbox, but isn't hindered by the DVD9, look at the previews of both games, The Getaway looks 10x better in my opinion.

Sandbox games are more suited to the PS3 as shooters are suited to the 360. Why don't devs notice this?

I am still mad that EA choose to make MERCS:2 multiplatform.

That game could have been absolutly awesome.

43 exclusives coming out in the next 2 or so years.

Thats awesome. Alot of those are quality games. Hopefully thats enough to convince people to buy a PS3.

Also all those shity downloadable titles "could" be added but nope. Except for calling all cars so that makes 44.

Ummm last time I checked Final fantasy has been around longer then pokemon.So that would make pokemon like final fantasy with monsters for 6 year olds.
