From the ashes of
Epyx, London-based System 3 will be bringing the nostalgic
California Games to both the Wii and PS3 consoles. When confirming its destination for the Wii console, CEO Mark Cale dropped word that it would also make its way to the PS3. According to Mr. Cale, "you will be able to buy it online," and "as a retail product." No word on if the title will include multiplayer over the
PlayStation Network or if it will be revamped for its next-gen arrival. It would be silly to waste all that space on a Blu-Ray disc, so lets keep our fingers crossed for a bunch of extras (we secretly hope it's something other than its dreadful sequel,
California Games 2). At any rate, it'll be nice to hit that
silly seagull with a footbag again.

The very best version of this game was the Atari Lynx port. I'll never forget the squeaking pedals on the BMX part or how fun it was to surf. The skateboarding was ok (it was no 720) but overall that game was alot of fun.

isnt this game like 256k or something? you could almost write that code out on a loose leaf. definately not 25GB

Duh, Draco, it'll be smoothed-over for HD and hi-color, which almost exponentiates (is that even a word?) the cost in K. On the Commodore 64, this game would have been 16 colors, with probably loadable screens, totalling somewhere around 200-300K at most, which in those days, well... let's just say your diapers mighta been bein changed while Pa was waitin for the next screen to load.
I remember back in tha day Epyx was the Shizzle. I don't know that I ever played this (but I can't wait till it comes out, because...), but I remember they had those olympian games?
Remember in the arcades there were those olympic games?
And then Epyx came out with them for the Commodore 64. And they somehow managed to use the machine's highest-resolution modes, but retain all the colors. I used to play those games, over and over. Good programming.
So yeah, I can't wait for this.

Oh, I think my point was, the Epyx games we played on our home computers looked BETTER than the arcade games, and played better.
