Haze becomes a PlayStation 3 exclusive?
In a press conference today in France, it appears that Ubisoft announced Haze will be released exclusively on the PS3, initially at least. This suggests that Haze is most likely the exclusive they mentioned last week. It appears that it will be a timed exclusive, like Virtua Fighter 5, though nothing has been confirmed on that front yet.
Little is known about Haze at this point outside of a vague release date of later this year, but considering it's from the developers of Goldeneye and TimeSplitters, there is a lot of excitement building for the game already. The highly unusual move of switching from multi-platform to exclusive will surely bring additional attention to this title as well so expect the hype to increase. We'll have more information as soon as Ubisoft can confirm Haze's exclusiveness.

L @ May 22nd 2007 7:32PM
does it matter what it comes out on??
you want the game or you don,t
@2 halo 3 killer **yawns** here we go
Jimmy @ May 22nd 2007 7:41PM
that'd be neat-o if it was exclusive...
just hope it's worth the hype when it comes out.
Plz do not mention that other four letter over-hyped FPS.
Also, I'm just trying to say if it builds so much hype and sucks it's taking away the glory from those other great games that no body really knows about.
But i'm expecting a lot from this game.
Mishi @ May 22nd 2007 8:16PM
i hope this isn't the ps3 exclusive Ubisoft had mentioned earlier
mccomber @ May 22nd 2007 8:17PM
Cool, hope that's true. Even timed exclusive is good news.
Although, with the way they've been delaying ps3 games a six-month headstart on the release date would mean it should launch alongside the 360 version.
Stef Geiger @ May 22nd 2007 8:19PM
I agree with #4: Who gives a damn if it's exclusive? This isn't a contest - it's videogames. The more platforms a title is developed for, the larger the return the company will expect, the more money they'll spend making it good. So long as the game is developed/ported well to the PS3, how is it a negative thing if another console has the title as well?
a.j. @ May 22nd 2007 8:25PM
@2...how the F do you know it will be an anything killer? have you played it? do you know anything about it other than the tiny little bits of info posted here and there? for all you know it could suck balls. i can't stand people who say sh_t like that every time a game is announced.
kingnick @ May 23rd 2007 8:24AM
I think the most any platform could hope for is a timed exclusive (less than six monthly possibly) before it's ported to PC/PS3/Xbox360.
Highly doubt it'll be PS3 exclusive (for any length of time) though, FRD do have bills to pay.
kingofwale @ May 22nd 2007 8:38PM
Is it from the same idiot that claimed FFXIII won't be SOny exclusive in France?
Yeah, I'm going to wait for US official announcement.
Kspraydad @ May 22nd 2007 8:45PM
The HAZE website is now showing ONLY the PS3 logo:
http://hazegame.uk.ubi.com/teaser/
If you use the wayback machine:
http://web.archive.org/web/20060529083157/http://hazegame.uk.ubi.com/
you don't get the graphics but you do get the text and see that Xbox USED to be listed on that page.
sam @ May 22nd 2007 8:52PM
@2 halo 3 has too much momentum to be "killed", even if haze is better.
massive_98 @ May 22nd 2007 9:15PM
"The more platforms a title is developed for, the larger the return the company will expect, the more money they'll spend making it good"
Games that are exclusives get much more press than non-exclusives. If Halo 3 was going to the 360, Wii, PS2, PS3, DS and PSP nobody would want it.
Stef Geiger @ May 22nd 2007 9:28PM
...What's your point? I don't buy a game based on how popular or well-known it is. I buy a game because it's good. So I really don't get how a game getting more press is a good argument for exclusive titles.
BlackBeltJones @ May 22nd 2007 9:53PM
@ 12
Agree, 500 million games of Halo 2 multiplayer and a reported 4 million preorders for Halo 3 already = Halo not getting killed any time soon.
mccomber @ May 22nd 2007 10:59PM
"and a reported 4 million preorders for Halo 3 already"
Not trying to start anything, or saying Halo3 won't sell at least 4 million copies in a short time, but as for preorders? I think unlikely is the word I'm looking for.

Well you may not care if a game gets more press. But exposure and sales are vital to keep the industry alive and sometimes in making a game a single platform title it will generate greater focus.
Exclusivity can also allow developers to tailor the components of a game to specific hardware. As with UBIs own approach with the 360 Splineter Cell.
Making a multiplatform can actually compromise the performance of both machines.
Although I am not sure it is the case with Haze. I am sure there are valid reasons for the transition.
Even if at worst Sony paid for this rumoured exclusive (As both companies have done in the past)
format competitivity can be a vital method for pushing the market forward. I won't go into the pros and cons of such things now as I simply do not have the time right now.
Lp47 @ May 23rd 2007 12:55AM
I really really hope this game is a PS3 exclusive. I can't wait for it and i love the new interview PSM had with the HAZE team. It looks like a HALO 3 killer and would be very good for the PS3. Once people see the game they will want to switch on over to a PS3. So they shouldnt worry about sales. Also Ubi. could do alot more with BLU-RAY...
NeverSage @ May 23rd 2007 4:16AM
But... that'd be crazy. A truly independent third party making an FPS exclusive to the PS3? That's bad business sense, keeping it from the shooter hungry xboxen crowd...
L @ May 23rd 2007 9:27AM
@21 "you can't even mod the damn thing yet."
emmmm you aare talking about the PS3 you can,t mod it??
well sorry this comin froma xbox360 fan ...... you can do alot more with a ps3 then you can on a 360 ... and no playing copys don,t count as a mod__thats just sad
plus you just sound like one of these 13 year old kids___ who give halo a bad name
"nothing will be better than halo 3 for 5 years"
thats just sad thinking_ me as a gamer would hope there would be & know there will be
& for the love of god Everyone Stop With the words
*HALO KILLER* cause thats just sad
what you need to ask youself is if this game is exclusive will it sell the system?
for me no sorry not atm ...theres to many FPS games out there.
PS. i still want to finish the fight ^___^ lol
Naaiif @ May 23rd 2007 9:31AM
"Nothing in the next 5 years will outsell Halo 3."
Pretty sure GTA IV will outsell it.
"Nothing in the next 5 years will be better than Halo 3."
Hahahahahaha, IDIOT. There are so many games that will be better, if you're talking just about shooting games though, MGS4 will be way better than this.
Actually Gears of War has probably already beaten this, quality wise. BTW did you see the halo 2 vs halo 3 comparison on GT? Ridiculous, Halo 3 looks terrible.
djspinal @ May 23rd 2007 11:27AM
Well, there was a huge article about the the psm magazine this month, the game looks sweet enought, the article was like eight pages long going very deep into the mechanics, so if you read this you can say more is known about it than little, also does anyone still care about the new killzone or does this real convenient!!! thoughts...
ziggen @ May 23rd 2007 2:46PM
PS3 can barely run Splinter Cell Conviction... I wouldn't be surprised if UBI pulls out on the PS3 because the console isn't powerful enough.
mccomber @ May 23rd 2007 4:47PM
Wow ziggen, insightful. It can barely run a game not coming out on it, and you wouldn't be surprised if it's pulled off the console that is the lead development platform for the title. Don't you have a bridge to hide under somewhere?
mccomber @ May 23rd 2007 5:03PM
Just realized you weren't even talking about Haze with your second half of your comment... which means my troll comment still stands strong.
belal @ Jun 27th 2007 6:07PM
if haze dosent kill halo 3 then the new metal gear 4 will kill it ;) here in norway they allready have made a list of the best games to come out and halo is on 4th place and metal gear 4 are on 2 place ;)
