At the
Nordic Game conference in Sweden last week,
LocoRoco creator
Tsutomu Kouno expressed indifference on motion sensing controllers. When asked on potentially creating a title for the Wii, he "didn't have much interest." Kouno-san seemed far more impressed with the technological possibilities of a peripheral like the
PlayStation Eye, conjuring
its controller possibilities. Harkening Minority Report similarities, he imagines playing a game "using hands, without even touching the controller." Sounds like someone read our
earlier report on the 3-D mapping capabilities of the PlayStation Eye and may be cooking up something special for the PS3 audience. The PlayStation Eye is gearing up for a July release so stay tuned for more updates on new and
unique uses for this peripheral.

I do agree it can be the future, but since they have NO clue where the future is headed, (WHERE'S YU-GI-Oh???) they are just not getting it.

Hmmmm...maybe Sony actually knows what they're doing?? Admittedly I
can't help but rant about how Sony needs to get its shit together and
release more games and quickly...and that perhaps their strategy was
flawed in terms of how they built and priced the hardware. I don't have
any idea if this article is at all noteworthy. But I can't deny the
sneeking suspscion that maybe just maybe Sony (the market leader) actually
knows what they're doing. I mean they did when last- gen and their
hardware was 'technically' inferior. This gen they 'technically' have the
have the upper hand, right. And perhaps their percieved arrogance is
the slow and steady execution of their longterm strategy. I mean we
should give them some credit, right?? While the waiting is agonizing I
have a feeling Sony is trying to really revolutionize gaming as we know
it. Already a few months out from launch Sony has some really innovative
things on the way...you be the judge of what they are. But from what I
can gather Sony is really trying to push the envelope...I think that in
a few years/months those who really want revolutionary gaming
experience will have to get a PS3...this is beyond graphics or sum new fangled
motion control. LOL @ beyond...isn't that their motto??
I have seen the future....and I believe it to be beautiful.

I still don't really understand the eye toy. Sony is seting themselves up for a big holiday season.
If you are Canadian please add me on PSN:

>I still don't really understand the eye toy.
well, they COULD do Yu-gi-oh, with card games and on screen animation.
and then they could do VF5 with motion capture (with Eyetoy running at 60fps). if they could do motion capture with that thing on PS3, that will be the future of gaming.
Either Sony doesn't get it. or they should just hire me as their creative directure.

Sony Gets It In Europe, Where EyeToy Games Are Selling And Continuing..
It's Just Us That Needs To Get It..
Or Sony Having To Give Faith Into Showing Their Ideas More To America, Even Though It Seems We Lack The Intrest Into PlayStation's Little Camera..
Yu-Gi-Oh Is A Specific Brand, And I'm Not Sure If Sony Wants To Go With Them And Make A Game..
Really, Sony Is Thinking That They Should Make A New Card Franchise Of Their Own Other Than Owning Parts Of The Rights (and earnings) Of Another..
I Just Hope Sony Really Shows Developers What They Can Do With The PS Eye, Since They Kinda Failed Doing That With The EyeToy, Making Only Like Sega And Their 'Sega Superstars' One Of The Better (if not, best) 3rd-Party EyeToy Game..
It's Been Inside Sony's First Party With The London Studio Who Is Really Showing What The 'Eye' Can Do..
Back To The Story, I Agree With Kouno's Words.. Had Been Ever Since The EyeToy Came Out.. There's Lots Of Potential For The Camera, But With The PS2 Hardware, It Was Some-What Limited.. With The PS3, However, The 'Eye' Has Much More Possibility..

Capitalizing Your Sentences Like This Looks Ridiculous And Certainly Doesn't Help In The Way Of Making People Take You Seriously...

@ Bored:
He Actually capitalized each word not the whole sentence...
IT HE CAPITALIZED THE WHOLE SENTENCE IT WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS.
:D
Zumbi @ May 23rd 2007 2:36AM
I geuss you guys haven't seen the eye of the beholder tailers? It is a card game like Yu Gi Oh that uses the eyetoy. It will definetly be on my list of purchased games.
Bored @ May 23rd 2007 7:01AM
@ Guynextdoor.
LOL
Now that would have been extremely annoying.
Point taken. Unfortunately, we can't correct our comments. :\
kingnick @ May 23rd 2007 8:24AM
From what I've used of the Wii the Wiimote appears to have a lot of untapped potential.
The EyeToy is up there with things like voice recognition that could be great but will likely fall short of peoples expectations.
Is the PS3 eyetoy going to be SD or HD?
grass @ May 23rd 2007 8:37AM
the new eye is going to be hd. its going to have background noise reduction, so if people use that mic on there with the cam, it won't be bouncing the echoing voices around like a damn pong game. and if this damn camera has the type of potential they are speaking of....that shit is just more exciting for me.
Kspraydad @ May 23rd 2007 9:25AM
@grass.
The PLAYSTATION Eye is NOT HD.

kingnick @ May 23rd 2007 12:22PM
Thanks for the link Kspraydad.
The XBL vision camera's average and I've yet to see it used in any compelling way, hopefully the EyeToy's a bit better.
Shame it's not HD as a HD would have been better able to capture motion and guestures.
Kspraydad @ May 23rd 2007 2:38PM
Well you have 2 huge reasons for a PLAYSTATION Eye in the next few months....SingStar and Eye of Judgement. (plus however we are going to use it in HOME and ingame communications)
I think with the youtube/myspace type community that they are building for SingStar and the continued success of Idol that this will be the first SingStar to make it big in the US (tempered by install base of course!).
naruto007 @ May 23rd 2007 2:46PM

a HD camera will cost more than $200 few people will gonna paid it
Spitkicker @ May 23rd 2007 2:54PM
Ugly ass camera!! LOL
Kspraydad @ May 23rd 2007 3:21PM
@Spitkicker....
Are you a designer? Please link to your proposed design for a console camera that includes a built-in four-capsule microphone array. Can't wait to see it.
Spitkicker @ May 23rd 2007 6:49PM
@Kspraydad
Nope. I'm just a gamer pointing out the obvious. Listen dad..I don't have to be a designer to know what's ugly. I'm sure you see cars or whatever and say that's an ugly car! So kindly STFU you hypocrite. Oh a "bulit-in four-capsule microphone array!!" Might as well stick a satellite dish on that thing. Talk about intrusive. I hope the speaker comes off and can be placed somewhere else.
BTitty @ May 23rd 2007 8:07PM
Its alright, spitkicker wants a white wii inspired toy camera with and xbox RRoD around the lense for added effect :)
Spitkicker @ May 23rd 2007 8:15PM
Yep. I do kind of like the size of the vision camera, it is not an eye sore at all. To each their own.
Kspraydad @ May 23rd 2007 8:24PM
@Spit...
As I thought...you don't even know WHY it looks like that. What 'speaker' are you talking about? I'm not aware that the PLAYSTATION Eye has a speaker.
Aswell, can you kindly look up the definition of hypocrite and then return and let me know what I have said that would qualify me as such. Thanks.
Intrusive? - please tell me the dimensions, I'm curious because SONY hasn't released them AFAIK.
Oh...and if you don't want to use the Eye, you are welcome to use pretty much ANY USB webcam you wish.
Now..why not have an informed opinion before you tell someone to STFU.
Have an awesome day.
