Wireless 'Les Paul' guitars revealed with Guitar Hero III details
Today RedOctane have released some new details about Guitar Hero 3. Perhaps most excitingly, they have revealed that controllers for the next gen consoles will be wireless. Great news for everyone who kept getting tangled up whilst rocking out to the previous two games. The controller itself will be in the shape of a Gibson Les Paul (pictured) for the PlayStation 3. The Playstation 2, however, will have a Gibson Kramer shaped controller instead. Presumably this is due to the PS2's lack of bluetooth, so expect it to be either wired or to include some kind of USB plug-in. Other announcements for the game include 'a new multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, grueling boss battles, a bevy of exclusive unlockable content and authentic rock venues', as well as online play. The game will take advantage of RedOctane's partnership with MTV by including a large number of original tracks, rather than covers. Hopefully this will reduce the production time for downloadable songs. Speaking of tracks, below are a few names to get your juices flowing. Let us know what you think of them. Expect the game out before the end of the year.
- Paint It Black (by The Rolling Stones)
- Cherub Rock (by Smashing Pumpkins)
- Sabotage (by Beastie Boys)
- The Metal (by Tenacious D)
- My Name is Jonas (by Weezer)
- Knights of Cydonia (by Muse)
- Rock And Roll All Nite (as made famous by Kiss)
- School's Out (as made famous by Alice Cooper)
- Slow Ride (as made famous by Fog Hat)
- Cult of Personality (by Living Colour)
- Barracuda (as made famous by Heart)

What the hell is a Gibson Kramer?
I'm guessing it will be the Explorer model that 360 got, being that Kramer is a brand that makes Explorer like guitars.

#2, check this out: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b179/happo_no_giri/Kramer5150.jpg
That's a Kramer. Kramer was bought by Gibson, so they are sometimes referred to as a Gibson Kramer now.
I too am all over this release. The achievements on 360 were gay, and I'd rather have wireless either way.

I've been waiting for a landmark title (non-fps or racing) to hit the PS3, and this just might work for me. Sony, show me more of this, and I'll pick up that PS3.

the message of the D is to set the artist free
Tenacious D, hell yeah
there is some good variety here
im assuming that the ones that say "as made famous by" will not be artist originals, that sucks

The Kramers are usually Strat-style guitars... they're designed for "hard rock," according to Gibson.
As far as real guitars go, Kramer makes Strats with more options- your choice of humbuckers or single-coils, whereas Fender offers your choice of single-coil of "Fat" Strat.

I saw that pic of a real guitar and thought there was some next-gen controller that actually made you play. Maybe ps4?
MIDI guitars exist, but they ain't cheap: generally $500+
Still, since such a controller exists, it would be feasible to make a game where you had to actually play the strings.
Then again, you'd have to actually have to 1) have the expensive guitar, and 2) have some semblence of playing ability.
Meh.
Bring me Guitar Hero III!

As long as these songs hit the top 20 on the charts you will have it made. I am 36 and i hate to try and play a song i do not know.... it makes it harder, which is not a bad thing however if the songs are popular or u have at least heard of it or the group... it makes it more challenging to try and play
KISS is always popular in our house as is OZZY (he is my GOD)
