Sly Cooper 4 coming to the PS3, apparently

Who remembers playing a game with a handicapped turtle, a sneaky raccoon, a giant hippo ... did we mention a turtle in a wheelchair? Yes, boys and girls, Sly 3 was a pretty funny game. What separates the Sly Cooper series from a lot of other franchises is that the characters build from previous games -- after an unfortunate accident at the end of the second game, Bentley is stuck in a wheelchair and you actually get to take control of the new and improved character in the next game. Stuff like that is hard to come by and really makes a title stand out.

That is why when we heard a Sly 4 was coming to the PlayStation 3, we nodded our heads in praise and continued to eat Combos. Delicious and disgusting at the same time. Speaking of "at the same time," a PSP game with the Sly name will be released simultaneously with the PS3 game and the two will feature some sort of connectivity.

In any case, the developers have issued this statement regarding their ambitions for the PS3 game: "the graphics have been majorly overhauled and the gameplay will be more varied and focused this time around. We're aiming for a fully interactive 3D world, with no loads and seamless interaction between settings and characters." We're looking forward to sneaking around and smacking people with giant wooden rods!

Sly Cooper was one of the best franchises on the PlayStation 2, Sly 4 is going to be awesome.

Any word on whether there will be any Episodic Content?

Like the others here, let's hope it recaptures the magic of Sly 1 and 2, and doesn't screw it all up like 3 did.

I have never owned Crash Bandicoot games, Ratchet and Clank, Jak n' Daxter, nor Sly Cooper games. I guess with all the opinions and the upscaling and such it's time to buy or download if available.

iv only played a demo of the game, but without that im still sure that this is a considerable waste of dev time.

@bootselion: I'm right there with you. I've been playing the Playstation since the PS1 was released and have never sat down with any of the games you mentioned. However, since this summer will be a huge drought for PS3 games, I'll probably go grab some $20 PS2 greatest hits games. I never regretted buying RE4, GOW or FFX for that price.

That's one thing that Sony has done very well, better than all of its competitors...backwards compatibility. 3 generations of consoles playable on one box complete with upscaling and smoothing (now). Amazing if you think about it.

I just picked up a Sly game last week...nice little platformer. I think it would translate well to the PSP (make it as good as Daxter) and look forward to both new versions.

i agree with razordog sly 2 and 3 were awesome but sly 1 was boring cause you can only play with sly and the graphics suck.

i hope that sucker punch productions will make a sly 4 if they do the name sly 4 war of thieves would be awsome i have completed all of the games 100% and am lookin forward to a 4 i hope it comes out for the ps2 because the ps3 sucks and is too expensive anyway so it would be awsome

It better be on the ps2 as well, i hate the ps3 and it would be awesum to have to sly 4 game also on the wii! then you could really sneak around. The 3D glasses would add to that effect. but that would never happen, to bad the wiis nintendo.

Sly grew up on PS2 and now is only on PS3 and PSP. It's not fair for those of us who can't afford those games. They should remember those who have played these games from the start and put it out on PS2.

Its not like sucker punch productions to stop the player from playing so if anyone knows there email we can email them and ask them to make it for the ps2 also i would if i knew it

First of all, I am sick and tired of Carmelita getting the credit for all of the stuff that Sly's gang gets done. I mean, Bentley tries to help and gets crippled! We work through the whole game to get his family's stuff back and she gets to destroy it in the end. We worked for it and she gets the pleasure. If anyone gets to finish things off besides Sly it should be Bentley or Murray. I think that she should mind her own business and eat some donuts. I love all of the games except for the endings.
