Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror sneaking onto PS2
For anyone browsing the coming soon listings for PS2, you may notice a familiar title. The excellent Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is being ported to Sony's last gen powerhouse. Previously, we've seen Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto titles and Tokobot make their way from PSP to PS2, but Syphon Filter may be the first Sony developed title to make the journey. Losing a PSP exclusive like this is usually somewhat maddening. In the case of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror though, it so easily eclipses its precursors, that we can't help but want others to experience the series reboot. Besides, the PSP sequel Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow comes out on the same day, so PSP gamers should be too busy playing that to care.

The sequel is comming , and than , there is over one and half year wait , thats not really a multiplatform release , thats a late port lol

Don't try justifying this. It's pretty much bullshit that Sony is taking their PSP exclusives and putting them on the PS2. Everyone gets so upset when they port a PS2 game to the PSP, but this is just backward, and just as upsetting.

The bottom line is this - every PSP game that is either multiplatform or ends up on the PS2 so far plays better on the PS2, thus making the PSP look like a sad cousin.
That said, I don't have a PS2, so I really don't care - it doesn't touch the year of fun I've had so far with Syphon Filter, nor will it stop it being fun.

It's not bad. I'm fine with that. It would bebad if it went multiplatform to like the ds or 360 but its going to a PS2 a Sony product. So in my mind thats ok. If exclusive games go from PS3 to PS2 or PS2 to PSP thats alright becuase there all sony systems.

As much as I think it's great for PS2 owners (I'm not one unfortunately), I do have to agree wit Craig that this trend of porting the best PSP games to the PS2 (or Xbox Live, or any other system) is bad for the PSP.
Every console needs a stable of exclusives that are killer-apps, system sellers. I just started playing Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror this week, and I have to say that this is a game people should buy the PSP for. If only Sony marketed it the way that Ubisoft promoted Splinter Cell; with TV ads showing people that they NEED this game (and a PSP to play it on)
Even if it's for the PS2 only, it still takes away one good reason to own a PSP: an awesome game that wasn't available anywhere else.

There have been articles recently about the 'death of exclusives'. That doesn't bug me.
Given how GTA:LCS sold, shouldn't VCS have done better than it did? But it was already a known that it would come to PS2, and that the controls would work better. So why should dual-owners bother buying it - and let's be honest, any game (including me)who *doesn't* have a PS2 is in the minority.

nobody complained when they make a Bran-age game for Wii. the thing is. WHO CARES.
Home Console market is as different from the portable market is Wii to PS360. if you want to play a great PSP exclusive on your last gen console and are willing to wait for 18 months for it. Go right ahead. Am I as a PSP owner threatened by this??? NOT even a bit that Crisis Core and GoW are coming soon.
