Rumor: Sony and PSM deny next-gen Sly Cooper, sort of
Sony and PSM are denying the very existence of the interview where rumors emerged about Sly 4 for the PS3 as well as a PSP game that would probably tie into the console title. The games were reported to get a showing at E3 this July, thanks to someone posting a supposed interview at PSX-Extreme, which was taken from N4G, taken from an anonymous GameFAQs forum post. The interview was said to be between PSM and developers Sucker Punch, but Sony and PSM now say the interview is completely bogus.Or perhaps not. The PSM denying the rumor is just the American branch. There are other magazines with the PSM moniker that haven't denied anything. The latest issue of PSM UK isn't even available yet, so perhaps there. Sony, well, they'll deny anything that's supposed to be an E3 surprise. It's another gigantic conspiracy of random speculation and anonymous source material! However, key players haven't denied anything -- Sucker Punch, the forum poster, or PSM UK. Silence can be deafening, no? What are your thoughts?

So you're saying that you are not interested in the new ratchet and clank for the ps3???
That is blasphemy!!!

Haha you got me Steve. I'll check out the title, as I already own a PS3. I'm just saying that if I didn't, I wouldn't rush out to buy myself a PS3 just because the new Ratchet looks so awesome. I believe that to be the case for most people in the PS3's current primary demographic (young professionals with expendable income to spend only on themselves). Though if a price drop that gives Sony a wider audience is store, we'd be playing a different ball game...

In my opinion, Sly Cooper was the defining platformer for the PS2. I do not own a PS3 or a PSP. If a Sly game comes out for either (or both), I will get one. I really do love Sly Cooper that much.
I am a young professional (26) with not a lot of expendable income. But if Sly comes around, it'd make saving up for the PS3 (or getting one off of Craigslist) worth it to me, and would justify the expenditure on a PSP.
I don't think anyone doubts the superiority of the PS3 hardware over the current top-seller, but I want to see the games (not just the promise of them in Spring or Fall 2008).
C'mon Sony...show me.

If it's fun, I don't care if it's cartoony, realistic or whatever. Art style has a lot of pull and influence, yes, but at the same time it's the characters, the story and most of all the gameplay that makes a game good or not.
As for Sly... is Nick arguing that the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence?

I say let's move on from all the last gen anthromorphic animal mascots. I'm liking our new faces like Drake, Nariko and the always girly FF protagonist, who actually is a girl this time! Considering that our current price tag pretty much alienates the younger crowd, titles like Ratchet, Jak and Sly will never be system sellers. Unfortunately, that looks to be an age group the Wii has cornered. Curse you, Nintendo and your endlessly wide market demographic!
