Japanese PS3 game available via Remote Play
If you haven't gotten the newest update for your PSP's firmware to get Remote Play cranking out worldwide awesomeness, you aren't alone. Media streaming and Remote Play seem to be creating frustration with a lot of people. We've got ours working and we can assure you that if you get everything connected ... wow. To add icing to the already sickeningly sweet cake, Sony is making a Japanese PS3 title available for everyone via the Remote Play function. The game is Mainichi Issyo, some crazy title about a cat doing whatever you tell it to. The game, available as a free download exclusively on the Japanese PS Store, can be played via remote play on your PSP and even access microtransactions in-game for added content. That means there is in-game PlayStation Store support via Remote Play. Even though we've got no idea what's happening in the game, that's an impressive feat and indicative of the potential of this feature. Perhaps someday we'll get Super Stardust HD or other titles available for play wherever we are in the world (assuming there's a wireless access point nearby). Perhaps.

Actually, that cat is the Japanese Playstation mascot, if I remember correctly. They tried to bring him to the states when they released the Playstation VMU (memory card thingie with a screen) for the PS1. It didn't take, and neither did the mascot.

It's kinda neat actually. Checked it out last night. It's kinda like a cute, more limited version of Home. You can access your friends list from inside the game, the store of course (for in game items), and there's a Big Brain Academy type game you can play too. My favorite part is the news. I watched the Ninja Gaiden Sigma introduction piece where Toro and Kuro talked about the game and basically acted out scenes from the demo. It was really funny. It looks like you also get in game items for watching the news sketches. I got two posters and a bowl or ramen. Sweet.
Gonna try out the Remote Play feature later.

yeah, Mainichi Issyo, or Super Cat Explosion translated, is an awesome game, if even for just watching the cat go about daily deeds (even taking a big one). I can only imagine what else it could do with purchased content. If there was a cat lobby, it'd be great.

Remote Play means just that. Games can now be written so that they have an alternate control method to match the PSP buttons and render to a screensize compatible for the PSP. If the game complies to these conditions they will be playable via remote play.

When I boot this game up, it updated, then it gives me a black screen with some japanese text with the letters "PS" in the second paragraph. it also has a little spinning clock icon in the lower right hand corner. I tried pressing all the buttons and do not understand what it wants from me.
