Watch out Nintendo, you're not the only one catering to the mom crowd. Sony's GPS-enhanced
Minna no Golf series allows golfers to get data on real-world courses in Japan. A new lengthy ad in Japan highlights the PSP's GPS capabilities, and is targeted solely at the adult crowd. Is Sony trying to broaden their appeal? Certainly. However, will someone that picks up a PSP for the sole purpose of GPS pick up any other game on the system? Most likely not. Thankfully, Sony's going to release a handful of different UMDs with different golf courses to explore. That should make their golf-targeted endeavor more than profitable. Check out the ad, after the cut.

Personally, I think that many golfers will be unwilling to buy a PSP, due to their idea of a PlayStation, and they do not want to become part of this crowd

The thought of buying a GPS add-on for the PSP seems wonderful for me - depending on price, of course.
Oh - and I just *have* to mention how much I love Hot Shots Golf, just because it came up.

Me, me! Target MEEEE!
When is SONY going to realize that GPS add-on (and perhaps some mapping software to go along) would be a GREAT way to sell more gear to existing customers in the US and to acquire new ones? Yeah, I know I can import a GPS unit from Japan, Hong Kong etc. But it's not very useful without relvant software.

I was checking out the Japanese version and it is so cool, now all I need is to be able to read it and include courses in my area and I will be complete.
