PS3 sales break million milestone in PAL territory
David Reeves, president of SCEE, spoke to MCV. about the console's surprising success. Since its launch in March, the console has sold through more than a million units in the European territories. "Early last week we went through the one million mark on PS3. And we did that in nine and a half weeks," he confirmed. He added, "That was faster than both PS2 and PSOne."Software sales have been fairly robust, with two million copies of first-party software sold in the region. Although the lineup since launch has been admittedly slim, things will definitely be picking up, with some new products to be unveiled soon: "Our big bangs will be arriving around September and October; Phil [Harrison] will be announcing these at a later date, but they will probably be in the arena of social gaming as well as more traditional games."

I hope for no "assing" games. I prefer things just the way they are down there.

So does he mean that "big bang" games that WE DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT YET will hit in Sept in Oct? Or the ones we already know about, and Phil will just be giving us their release dates?
I'm really hoping for BRAND ASSING NEW ASSING GAMES being announced soon- be it BD, PSN, or PSP. I could also use some new peripherals...particularly ones that rumble and are palindromes....

what this? wheres the doom and gloom? its like im reading a story at a playstation fanboy site or something.
oh... wait.
thats some good news finally. i expect it to start picking up this fall. i still think those that are waiting are missing out though. the wii got old in exactly 1 week (about the time i finished zelda)... the 360 i am scared sh**less to turn on for fear of red light of death (after going through 4 consoles in less than a year, and one that actually ate my discs, you get a little gun shy) but the ps3 i cant get enough of. motorstorm, resistance, etc. and the new upscaling on the old classics is worth it alone. been going back through my catalog playing some ps2 titles as well.

Ha, nobody wants the ps3! Er... wait.
At the very least, we all know this will be spun, and then forgotten in favor of the latest round of Sony bashing that comes up. Until then, good job Sony.

Like I've been saying Sony is going for a holiday blitz this fall. Games such as Afrika and 8days could be making a splash along with UNCHARTED:DRAKES FORTUNE! (the game that even Xbox fanboy cant say much bad about)

I'm actually surprised. There hasn't been a AAA title (not even a AA title) since the launch title FoM. We can only imagine what this year's Christmas will be like after the release of some decent games. (finally)
Here's the thing with PS3, I can guarantee you MOST PS2 owners would love to have one, It's just most of them don't want to pay 599 for it. So, PS3 will sell, it's just a question of when and at what price. Maybe it will fly off the shelves at year 3? or year 5? or even year 7. It's all up to Sony now.
