Rumor: Tomb Raider: Anniversary making its way to PS3?
The Xbox 360 is receiving their Tomb Raider: Anniversary fix in the form of episodic content over Xbox Live, however it's initially limited only to those that own the last next-gen outing, Tomb Raider: Legend. While it would seem trite of Eidos to snub Sony by not releasing any similar content for the PlayStation Network, they do have plans to release a retail version of all episodic content on one disc. PSX Extreme says there is reason to believe this retail version will hit PS3 through the magical re-engineering of porting the Xbox 360 code.We aren't holding our breath on this one. Knowing how most devs feel about the port process leave us more than a bit skeptical, especially considering the fact that Tomb Raider: Anniversary is more or less just a new map on top of the already-built game engine of Tomb Raider: Legend. Porting it to PS3 would more than likely take a larger team of devs to complete than Eidos is willing to fund. But hey, we're wishful thinkers. We sincerely hope that if this slim rumor holds any weight, the port team will be diligent and give PS3 owners the chance to experience the new Tomb Raider: Anniversary content in all its PS3 splendor.

Well, already picked up the ps2 version, so I don't see this being a purchase unless they do a Fifth Element trade-in deal. Haven't had time to even play the game though; damn you real life!

id play it.

no, you are wrong.
the 360 will get TRA via episodic download and later this year will receive a full retail version. i doubt it will carry any graphical upgrade from the PS2 version.
porting this title to a PS3 specific format would be a waste of time and money. not to mention a PS3 specific version would have no rumble function.
porting it would be like porting God of War 2 to PS3. you can already play it, so why port it.

I don't see why porting is so difficult. Have you played NHL 2K7 on PS3? They took the 360 version and ported it awesomely.

@massive_98: There wasn't much to port for a simple sports game. Something like this might take alot more time and effort.
Seriously though, do people still play Tomb Raider? I stopped playing it after Tomb Raider 2 or 3 or whatever years ago.

You're missing out then. The series went to hell, but Legend was pretty damn good, and had several of the "wow" moments that made me love the first game. It had been so long since I'd played any of them (like you I stopped after the second or third) but the newest titles have made it fairly fresh and fun again.

Hi Yabba the Hut
How did you play TR: Anniversary on PS3? The game loads fine but prompts for a Dual Shock 2 controller. Have you found a way for the PS3 controller to control Lara or did you get yourself a Dual Shock adapter?
cheers Hugh
