The Darkness to remain in the shadows until July in Europe
We saw warning signs that this might happen about a week ago. GAME.uk.com changed the release date for The Darkness from June 29th to July 20th. We figured if we ignored it, maybe it wouldn't be true. Unfortunately, it is true. Play.com and Amazon.co.uk have both updated their release dates to correspond with GAME.So it looks like we're in for another wait. It is, however, important to remember that the PS3 is region free for games. The American version will still be out early next week, so hop on over to your favourite international games website and get ordering. Alternatively, you could get an American friend to enter our The Darkness contest and send you the winnings. If they win.
If you really fancy waiting around for a month, you'll have Rainbow Six: Vegas and Ninja Gaiden Sigma to tide you over. So it could be worse.

I don't understand why it is only the PS3 version getting delayed in Europe and not the Xbox 360 version as well!

@1 because microsoft pay there bills on time! PS has been reported to be bouncing cheques on developers lately, you no how it is atm.......
mccomber @ Jun 23rd 2007 1:00PM
Hey X3, any sort of source or report or anything about that? Seriously, bouncing checks? And who would Sony even be paying in this case; they aren't publishing, producing or developing the Darkness, so what money would they have to front for it's release?
Stef Geiger @ Jun 23rd 2007 5:59PM
Yeah X3, Sony doesn't PAY developers - they provide Dev Kits and stuff, sure. In fact, DEVELOPERS pay SONY, I believe it's around $10-15 per game sold. Developers pay for the.... for lack of a better word, privilege of having a system to release the game on. Now, first party developers are a different story.
kingofwale @ Jun 23rd 2007 8:53PM
of course Sony gets money from Developers, why would Sony sells its console for 200 dollars UNDER the cost?
Having said that, this doesn't look like that good a game, I think I will pass and go straight to Ninja Gaiden.
dantad @ Jun 24th 2007 6:15AM
well Sony America are getting the game on time, i doubt it is sony not paying people... although it does seem really strange there has been no official announcement of why it is delayed =S I can't think of any logical reason why only the Playstation version in europe and not USA has been delayed. I can wait for it though, its not the end of the world.

@X3
Are you trolling on the ps3 site because your system has red ringed again? thought so. Go and make more use of your time on the xbox forums.

Why does this **** keep happening to us here in Europe, the 360 version is coming out this week, and the US PS3 version is coming out this week, the same thing happened with Spiderman 3, something fishy is going on.
Bill-Will @ Jun 25th 2007 12:51PM
If i get the U.S.A version can i play online in Europe?
