Killzone 2 will be shown at invite-only pre-E3 event

Supposedly, there's this big game called Killzone 2 coming out for PS3. We haven't heard of it. But, that will change come Tuesday, July 10th. Instead of going to the Microsoft keynote, we're going to head to this invite-only Sony event, which we're assuming will feature something Killzone-related (see invite, pictured above). Only 150 people have been invited to the event, so we're hoping that we can get some intimate alone-time with a playable Killzone 2. Stay tuned for more.

The first killzone was good but the hardware was the reason it was limited. On the PS3 it should be what it was supposed to be and more.

I wouldnt say it completely sucked, but it was sort of a let down. Too cramped in a lot of places, the controls weren't as fluid as i would have liked... just had some slight missteps. Also the story was "meh"

Manhunt I never played but it got a good review around 8.5 review from video game websites and killzone got anywhere from 6.9, 7.5, and 7.9 but killzone for the psp I never played but it got some good and some bad reviews.

I think what Sony is about to show there will be very good, certainly they're doing this to steal the thunder from the MS keynote.

Actually i enjoyed the story. At least they have you a story upfront, not like some other game where you play the game, THEN have to buy graphic novels to get the 'background story', on a story that was already mediocre AT BEST. Stupid Halo

if this game impresses me i'll sell my xbox 360 and buy ps3. well only if theres a price drop to 400 dollars.

but that also depends on how halo 3 turns out at E3; the multiplayer beta did not impress at all so if the game doesnt change and Killzone 2 is good, i'll be getting PS3.

ive been an Xbox fanboy for years, but lately they have done little right.

Wait a minute! So Sony is going to talk about this game to an invite only crowd that will go on DURING the MS keynote..........OH NO! This game is going to suck worse then I thought! The ONLY people that are going to go to this will be Playstation centric press that love everything Sony has done with the PS3 because everyone else will be at the MS keynote, I really hope I'm wrong and this game turns out better then the infamous video but the timing seems bad.

What has Sony done right? I will agree that some aspects like Home are very cool but that's about it.

The 360 has massive failure rates but that's all they have done wrong.

If Killzone 2 looks like that E3 video from a couple years back I'll be buying a PS3 the day KZ comes out... period.

Considering that Sony has not delivered I won't be holding my breath.

no this part of the larger theme of the 360--and to say "that's all they've done wrong>" Is laughable. That is a pretty major deal isn't it?

It's great for them because people have to go out and buy new 360's--not so great for the consumer. and this is coming from someone who went through 4-5 ps2's.

Not to mention they rip you off on headsets, hard drives and pretty much every peripheral out there.

The 360 is great for hardcore fps people, but other than that, I'm not sure what is so great about it.

Actually it's a pretty good strategy, everyone will go to the Sony keynote anyway, KZ2 there or not, so they create an event separate for KZ2, at the same time the MS keynote is going on.

Coincidence? I think not! A great way to try and divert attention away from MS and onto KZ2.

And with a presentation just for one game alone? Clearly Sony and Guerilla must be absolutely confident this will blow our minds. Oh man i can't wait.

I'm glad you mentioned the ps2's you went through, otherwise I was going to call bullshit. I went through 6 ps2's. It's great being an early adopter, isn't it?

But this comment I see alot:

and it rather suprises me. I own both a PS3 and Elite 360, and play both systems. I didn't purchase the elite because of any FPS, but simply because I was tired of having a nex gen gaming console, and not having much to play. (And no, I do not consider the Wii a nex gen console) Which genre does the PS3 have more games then the 360? All this KZ2 talk...what genre does that game belong to? From my observation, the 360 has more in every genre, out and in the pipeline, then the PS3; and the game genre's most PS3's owners seem to be waiting for are FPS's. Curious, is it not?

Now as to the topic, I'm already slightly jaded over KZ2 over the BS Sony spewed out last year, and personally didn't care for KZ1, so I'm not very excited about the game. But, Sony giving a private viewing during the MS keynote tells me it could actually suck, and doesn't come close to delivering, or it's just corporate antics, of which all 3 are good at pulling during E3. I suppose time will tell.

Or the timing could be brilliant. They'd better be demoing it live and not just showing video because everybody knows how THAT turned out the last time. If they blow it at the same time as going head to head with the MS keynote with no actual demonstratable gameplay, that looks better than the pre-rendered E3 video as they've already stated before, the PS3 is officially a dead console. The gaming press and the blogs will eat them alive and it'll be LUCKY if it survives another 12 months.

Let's hope history does not repeat itself.
History being... Huge event + Sony = PR disaster.
