Rumor: Sony to reveal massive changes to the XMB and PS Store at E3

It seems every couple weeks we get another rumored list of new features/changes for upcoming firmware releases. They rarely come true and are usually quickly debunked, but are kind of fun regardless. Still, this most recent rumor is pretty juicy and comes from a PS3 Forums regular. Supposedly Sony is going to be showing off a huge overhaul to the XMB and the PlayStation store at E3, with heavy Home integration and the implementation of several features that have been long request. We've broken down the info into tasty little bulleted tidbits:

Folder support for all sections of the XMB including Games, allowing you to organize your plethora of demos/ps1 titles/PSN games.
User Profile page accessible directly from the XMB that shows off the your gamerscore, profile info and trophies. The page will also be viewable in your Home apartment.
PlayStation Store is getting completely redesigned to make it more console accessible and to pave the way for the additional content Sony plans to release by the end of the year (videos, movies, music, etc).
You'll be able to select your trophies for use as a t-shirt graphic in Home so everybody can check out your Loco Roco skillz without having to go to your house.

A lot of the things mentioned sound reasonable. For example, the PlayStation Store will have to be revamped if Sony wants to offer a wide range of content there. As it is, it's unbelievably slow and really isn't conducive to prolonged sessions of browsing through content. Also, Phil Harrison has previously mentioned increased integration between Home and XMB, and Eric Lempel recently commented that Sony is indeed working on a gamerscore type of system. But still, take this rumor with a big ol' salt lick -- at least we won't have to wait long to find out if it's true!

with e3 around the corner this has got to sonys anouncement that will take the wind out of the 360's sales. uh, this and the games.

Although this certainly seems more likely than most. XMB is fine, but the PSStore being streamlined would definitely help

I really think Sony should implement a sortof mini myspsace idea where you can disclose as much(or little) info as you want. Things like your Country, Games owned etc... (I don't really care for a gamer score but some like the idea)

Just a quick question
How come you can't just have music integrated into the PS3?
The old Xbox did it. Not sure about the 360 but it probably does.

I for one actually like the PS store. It is perfectly functional. You complain that is too much like a webpage. NEWSFLASH...it is accessing the internet so what more do you want.

Wow I am typing much faster than I a have in the past.

as a side note real quick in case anyone is interested, I opened my mail today to find a Warhawk beta invite. i was pretty bummed when i didn't get into the first round, so if anyone else was bummed, check your emails, you never know! the game is pretty rad.

The PS3 does have an in-game music feature built in to the software - its just up to the devs whether they want to use it.

i also got an invite for the beta im wandoring how long that'll last with my account, im out of the country, meaning im 5000 miles away from my ps3 right now. and just wandoring once you download it, does it come off the featured section or does it stay there? im wandoring im tempted to login to my cousins ps3 and let it download..

I would like if someone helped me to ask sony to add a Screen Position Adjuster in the next firmware update...
My TV makes the screen to be not centered, that's with all the videogames, but my gamecube had a screen adjuster... all the old consoles had one... I would like if sony added one. I already sent some emails, but none of them seem promising.

Its not a surprise that there is xmb access in home, Sony reported in their blog that xmb can be accessed from any game, its just up to developers to unlock the feature.
