Developer's Studio: Nina Kristensen and Heavenly Sword + Joystiq interview

The PlayStation.Blog's "Inside the Developer's Studio" feature continues in its run up to E3. Yesterday we got a little bit of insight into the upcoming collectable card computer game Eye of Judgment from Felice Standifer. Today Nina Kristensen, co-founder of Ninja Theory, answers Sony's questions regarding the much anticipated Heavenly Sword.
As well as posting her thoughts on the PlayStation.Blog, Kristensen has also had a very interesting interview with Kevin Kelly of Joystiq. Make sure you read both interviews for some insight into the game's story, the goings-on at Ninja Theory, Nariko's mega combo attacks and the trouble with "bollocks". Also, check out the videos that were posted just a wee bit earlier. Hypetastic. We can't wait for this game.

I cannot wait for this game. It looks really awesome. Hopefully this can move some consoles in Japan and the rest of the world for that matter.

She seems much more like a real woman than Lara Croft. She seems like a real person who has to deal with seriously heavy sh*t. I was excited to see that someone involved here on a high level is a woman, that Nina person. I would take this over GOW... ANY DAY. I always rent movies, but if this turns out like it's looking, I might buy for once, just to add props. The facial modeling in the movies is full of so many nuances of feeling: trepidation, expectation, strength, emotion... it's much more movie-like than a silly Barbie-type person with implants. I think this game could appeal to all the gamers with brains who think Gears of War is pretty, but cannot stand that macho bullsh*t. If the story is good, this game will be a Mega Classic, far above anything on the 360, not so much because of graphics, but because of IDEAS. It looks like the people who put this together actually read books. I compare it to the first outing of a quality story on PS3 called "Resistance," etc. but I think this is definately upping the bar.
Insomniac, are you watching this? We're getting hyped for Resistance2 (yes, you left an opening), so pay attention!
Uh... I'll stop, before this becomes a blog.

I say its football and doesnt really matter to me. But besides, these engines were built on 360 first, then ported, and its already known that ports are rough due to the SPUs of the cell. So its the developers, not the PS3
RoarrrUK @ Jun 30th 2007 5:51AM
Its a moot point. The 360 wouldn't be functional to play 60fps it would be over heating. lol. In all serious though. I have ps3 because I went threw 5 of them. So while I'm concerned about the 60fpsvs30fps, I don't actually care. The 360 wouldn't be alive to play the damn game in the first place. Of course if M$ actually fixed the issue, then I'd be worried. But until then, Sony and the devs have time to improve and understand the hardware and then we can make a comparison.

Yeah pretty much what RoarrUK and toby said, I've had my 360 break on me twice already, and often have framerate issues with it as its overheating. The real problem with the game running at a lower frame rate for the PS3 is the fact that the game was made for the 360 and then ported to the PS3 which is MUCH different. Also EA isn't known for putting that much effort into thier sports games (though this years actually has alot of changes, i'll give em that) So I'm not to shocked that they are half ass'in thier ports too.
Since you posted this on PS3's site I assume you have one or at least interest into the PS3. What can you do to voice your opinion of EA Sports low standards? Don't buy thier game every year unless they put out quality.

Well I know you say Blu Ray isn't a selling point, but you may change your mind on that in a year or two. By that time the BR will prob cost what DVD's do today.
If you didn't have either system...
To be honest from your needs as a buyer, if you didn't already have a 360, I'd say go for that over a PS3 simply because in the short terms, it meets your needs.
However in the long term you can expect the PS3 to be going for at least 5 years to be sure, and games will only keep getting better once people start taking advantage of the size on the BR disk, and the PS3's Cell.
As for the cost, over the life of both systems PS3 will actually be cheaper. Xbox live over the systems life span will be more then enough to top 360 over the $600 mark.
These numbers are from memory only so don't quote me on them but on a UK watchdog site, it was reported that 360 returns while still in warrenty were somewhere from 30-40%. And I'm inclined to agree as my 360 has died on me twice before the warrenty was up!
Either way, the PS3 will someday be competing well against the Xbox 720... or what ever they are going to call it.
