For E3 this year, Microsoft is offering a ton of content related to the show for download over their XBL service. It's a great way for us mere mortals to taste a bit of the excitement of E3 and maybe even try out a couple of the games. Last year it was a lot of fun, and people were wondering if Sony was going to step up to the plate with their own E3 offering. Unlike Microsoft, they've been rather quiet about their plans -- leading a lot of people to speculate that it was going to be yet another sparce content showing from Sony. But things may not be as they look, as just earlier today Sony updated their PlayStation Store front with an interesting teaser image (seen above). Sony has never used the main Store Top frame to advertise anything that wasn't directly related to the PlayStation Store some how, so this is an interesting development.
Hopefully this isn't just a tease and actually leads to a solid E3 content push from Sony. Toss in a
Lair demo and a
Killzone 2 video and that would make a whole lotta people happy little campers.

Sony has to know that this is their time to really set things in motion to make the ps3 take the holidays by storm. I can't wait to see what all three companies have in store, but Sony definitely has the most riding on their showing at e3.
Also, I still hope a day comes where we get to have new game events "live" in Home. Imagine a mini-mini E3 you could attend through the ps3; that would be cool.

I really hope the Killzone trailer and such will be able to be downloaded. Plus may be some talk on the new Socom game having a beta. That would be cool.
There is alot Sony could show so I hope they will.

With the speed of the PSN for me, it'll be E3 2008 before I get anything downloaded...
I know not everyone has this problem, but last week I queued up Super Stardust HD, the GTA4 trailer and the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam demo, and it took 6-7 hours to d/l those 3 items.
Day before yesterday I d/led a 1.4 gig demo off of Fileplanet and it took about half an hour, just for comparison's sake.

if they really do what we're expecting to do.. which is show a lot of new games and upgrades coming and projects, then sony will take the console by the horns again, i'm really looking forward for this.. i might order G4 on direct tv just to watch the latest,
or are you able to watch it online?
i don't want haters to grab one out of context quote and make up lies bout the ps3 like the usual

@GRT
PS Store download is very fast for me.
I have a 10Mbit line, download speed from PS Store is very fast for me.
upz @ Jul 4th 2007 2:42AM
Heavy Rain demo?
If only...
PS Store is also pretty fast for me on a 1.5Mbit line. Wired connection though. Loading web pages, though, is a different story.

Sony has to pull everything out of the hat. I think they will. If they make a big splash at E3, Sony could do a very quick about face and sell more systems than the Plumber or Bill this Mythmass.
IF they can...drop the price by at least $100
If Killzone delivers (this one game alone if Sony can make it as good as the trailer will put Sony back up on it's horse)
If they announce a movie and music download service for both the PS3 and PSP
A playable MGS 4
LBP (every single Plumberboy wishes Nintendo had this one)
and 2 big announcements on previously secret games.
GodisaMyth @ Jul 4th 2007 4:05AM
I have a wifi connection for the PS Store and those three items took a combined 35 minutes or so.
I have crappy ass ATT&T DSL

Yes, This is an important event for Sony, for them a lot must be riding on it as the PS3 needs user base / games and I guess dev tools that open up it's power easily.
Forget trailers, they're not worth a penny/cent, it's playable demo's that count here.
If i were looking to buy a console right now ( which i'm not as I'm loved up on my PS3 ) Id buy a PS3 today if I could play advanced demo's of HL2 / MGS / FFXIII ( dream on !).
Saying that, my money's on an ICO/SOTC follow up in glorious HD with atmosphere in spades. Motorstorm 2 but totally open environments as was Smugglers Run.
Come on Sony !

As a European PS3 Fanboy I must admit to being impressed (finally) with the quality of content being uploaded to the Euro PSN Store. Super Stardust is to die for! Thank you Sony!!!
Now, the upcoming E3. I'm expecting to see -
. Home looking close to mass roll-out
. Killzone2 in a playable demo form (for attendees and then a week or two later on PSN Store)
. Heavenly Sword in a similar state to KZ2 above
. WarHawk again same as KZ2
. Pro Evo Soccer in a playable format
. Burnout Paradise in a playable format
. Announcement of an early release of the PS3 Eye Toy to the market (for Europe as well as Japan and the US!)
Something which would knock the opposition sideways would be for Firmware upgrade 2.0 to be released around the same time as E3, maybe a few days before. The leaked release notes sound so cool already but how about Sony chuck in video support for DivX/XVid? That would be a major coup and make the PS3 a REAL living room media centre!

I'm expecting a rumble sixaxis. I've been holding off on buying a second controller because I know it's coming sooner or later. It would be really nice if Sony offered a nice discount on one to current PS3 owners.

I for one hope there will be more news on Eight Days,Afrika and White Knight the most.
Plus I really want to see what else Sony will be having come out on the PS3. Plus I need to know when games like Singstar will come out and PSEye. I also want to hear of a new Buzz game that after you played that for some time you can buy new games for Buzz off of PSN.
I want to hear if the rumor about Dragon Age coming to the PS3 is true. If the rumor about the PS3 only game from Epic and so much more.
So I hope there will be many things Sony will show.
