European price cut leaked by SCEAu Managing Director?
We know an announcement is coming from SCEE this Thursday that is "related to the US price cut", but SmartHouse News claim that they already have the scoop. Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia has reportedly confirmed that PAL regions will be seeing a price cut of "as much as 17%".While this is potentially great news, and 17% would bring the PS3 down to a much friendlier price of £350 in the UK (making it the cheapest Blu Ray player available), we're not going to hold our collective breath. One way or the other, we'll know on Thursday.

seems like the price cut may not be such a good thing. especially considering the cost of making a PS3 vs. the lack of incentive software available to make a decent profit at the time of this price cut.
a price cut at 7 months into this console's life cycle smells like fear to me.

just btw guys: most of Europe is not British, in fact most of us Europeans use the Euro and not the pound. Everytime I read a headline that says Europe I am slightly disappointed to find UK specific infos. Do you think you could distinguish between UK and continental (Euro) Europe... Thanks!

microsoft shipped me 2 games and a controller when they pulled this price drop stunt with the first xbox so soon after launch.
i expect something similar from sony if its a 17% reduction in price .
i already feel like an ass for buying the system so early with so few games worth playing, sony would like me to hate them more?

if its a British guy posting, then i guess they're going to use the currency they know, eitherway its speculation on *upto* 17% off whatever RRP is in that territory. Still, know the feeling, you try installing everything on your PC in 'American English' WHERES THE ENGLISH ENGLISH!!! :P Stealing our language..... [/rant]

17%... yey. In Sweden the price is about 6000 swedish krona. In US dollars that is about 890 USD, so 17% isnt really making me go out and buy one.
