Haze: timed exclusive, or totally exclusive?
The answer is timed, if you ask us. At Sony's conference, all the buzz for today's news, Free Radical's upcoming shooter Haze was announced as a PS3 exclusive title, qualified with the phrase "this financial year." It's pretty obvious what that means and we're going to squash the rumors of complete exclusivity now, so that it doesn't get out of control and used against the, er, "Sony camp". It's only on the PS3 until the end of March 2008. That's a long time, considering its release is coming in a matter of months. Oddly, a trailer has yet to be slapped onto the PS Store, but you can always check the one above.
[Update: IGN interviewed Free Radical. "Haze will only be found on PS3 this holiday season, and will remain exclusive through the first quarter of the calendar year."]

There is ZERO question that it is timed...
Ubisoft VP Marketing today:
Haze will only be found on PS3 this holiday season, and will remain exclusive through the first quarter of the calendar year.
ndoerr @ Jul 11th 2007 6:55PM
@ Kspraydad -- yep, that is absolutely correct. But it's still important to crush the possibility of the rumor before it starts. It would just turn into ammo. Like "yeah PS3 can't keep anything exclusive lolmao1!one!". Or whatever. I'm tired.

Well, at least it'll be out for Christmas on at least ONE console... =P
Matt B @ Jul 11th 2007 8:21PM
Timed or not, all these are still keeping 360 owners wanting way past the xmas season.

Its better that Haze become a timed exclusive for the PS3... the fact is... they would have to compete against HALO 3, and Haze isn't going to outsell Haze... it'll do good on the PS3 cause there's no dominant FPS, by the time march comes around HALO 3 sales will be slow and they can capture the FPS market.

why would you ware yellow to battle?
Neil @ Jul 12th 2007 7:24AM
I have to say, Yellow isn't a reasonable colour for camouflage, great in a desert or on the surface of the sun but anywhere else is pretty stoopid. Saying that, This game could well end up in my PS3.
E3 sounds interesting, shame your there and I'm not!

This is really a disappointment. It really is a sad thing the way Sony's speaker named Tretton only mentioned a couple exclusive games for the Holiday 2007 shopping, and BOTH of them are going to be on the Xbox 360 in early 2008!
The really bad thing is that Tretton used the word "Exclusive" for Metal Gear Solid 4 in the exact same way he did for Haze and Unreal. That makes me think Metal Gear Solid 4 is only a timed exclusive on PS3.
I don't think that buying a system for timed-exclusive games is worth $500. Especially since the Xbox 360 versions of games are better.
I love Halo, that's why I bought an Xbox 360.
I love Crackdown, and only the Xbox 360 lets me play the complete version with the two extra episodes. That much is common knowledge.
And I love football. Only the Xbox 360 lets me play the three football games this year at 60 frames per second. The PS3 versions only run at 30 frames per second.
I may be a fan of the PS1 and PS2, but I'm not spending $500 for a PS3 system with such poor performing software that won't even have games like Gran Turismo until late 2008. PS3 will probably have dropped another $100 by the. Maybe it will be worth it by then. But definitely not now.

@joel: You *know* this is PS3fanboy right? Seriously, we don't care. The whole 30fps vs 60fps is probably because Sony doesn't want games tearing with Vsync off and looking like ass which as everyone knows hurts framerate. I've seen plenty of X360 titles using this cheap trick.

@9, "Joel" posts on numerous websites under a huge variety of alisases and is so entrenched in MS's jock he might become Bill Gate's b*tch. He's a tool. He has nothing better to do right now b/c his 360 probably red ringed him again. Only those threatened by Sony's show yesterday are coming into forums and posting xbot fanboy garbage. It's obvious he's got some insecurities.
