Silent Hill V confirmed for PS3

Silent Hill 5 was just announced at Konami's E3 press conference. A mysterious poem drove the fan community to rampant speculation, wondering what the Konamegaton would be. Silent Hill 5 will appear on both PS3 and Xbox 360. Expect more details in the future.

I'm so happy. If only they could tease us with some gameplay footage. Or even FMV. I just want to see what sort of creature designs they'll push this time.

Holy God...so many people don't realize that Silent Hill has made a cult (literally) of its fans.
These games are life to us.

I'm glad to see it on both systems and not a shitty port for the Wii like..*ahem* SOME horror franchises like to do to "please" everyone.

Should change the title to "Silent Hill 5 not stolen away from PS3 after all!"

Or something to the tune of that. I'm sure this was at some point eyed as potential prey for M$'s rampant exclusivity shopping spree. This seems to fall in the "Konami wanted to make sure there weren't any more PS3-only titles under their belt" category.

Can't wait for it. Although I think the screenshot on 1up.com sucks. I like the gritty surreal look of SH2 and SH3.

I still have yet to play a single Silent Hill game. I was planning on making the PSP version the first one I play. Just because I really don't play my PS2 anymore except for GH II. PS3 runs my GOD of War II, and anything else, is just uncivilized.

Heard that this game was gonna play and feel and mostly look like Silent Hill 2. At least that's what the creator said in an interview on some great blog site.

There are 2 screenshots on IGN as well, and yes they aren't the greatest. But this thing is probably SUPER early build. A while ago one Akira Yamakoa said that IF they were to start working on SH5 that they would have barely any work on it (his quote was "It is still so far ahead so I have nothing in mind!") so I'm not surprised at the quality of the shots. But I have great faith that the game is just going to look better and better as time rolls on.

i'm sure you've heard it before, but i have a friend that works for The Collective as a artist for Silent Hill 5.

and from what i know the game is currently only being developed for the 360 right now. those screens you see are from the 360 version. the PS3 version will come out later than the 360 version.

how much later? that depends how long it takes The Collective to learn the infrastructure of the PS3.

need proof? just wait for the EGM in October.

lol yeah he didn't know "Silent Hillish" to me but can't wait to get my hands on that mag!!!
