Looks like we got ourselves a fighting chance afterall.
No mention of the rumble sixaxis, though... oh well.
Xiru @ Jul 11th 2007 4:23PM
Sony won the show hands down. Kotaku and G4 agree. Man what a show by Sony. They said Sony was amazing, MS was boring and Nintendo was in between. Exactly how I feel as well. Great show overall.
DxG @ Jul 11th 2007 4:24PM
sony FTW
WhackMushroom @ Jul 11th 2007 5:13PM

CarNage @ Jul 11th 2007 4:36PM
SONY FUCKING OWNED!!!!!!!!!!
never$$hort @ Jul 11th 2007 4:49PM
That was all pretty exciting and we as PS3 owners have alot to look foward to. This really is only the start of a great system and this conference only further renewed my faith that I did indeed purchase the correct system, not that I EVER thought otherwise. PS3 see ya around for another 8-10 years!!!
P @ Jul 11th 2007 4:49PM
Must admit that the section with Chewbacca and the scenes acted out in Playstation Home were a little annoying, i'd expect that sort of thing at a theme park as they talk to the kids, but its an audience of adult journo's not 8-14 y/o kids being taught road safety!
The majority of the footage wasnt all that helpful, always shown from the back of the room looking onto the 4 screens where just about visable in the middle 2 were some sort of footage. The Microsoft conference was dull, but at least what you saw of that was broadcast as full screen in the stream, and for me that as the single thing i had envy for, i wish we could have seen the PS3 titles as clearly as the 360 ones, and less 4 screen action just so we can see some developer geezer telling us something about it when we want to SEE it.
MGS, not a big fan of the series (barely played MGS2, just wasnt for me) but as always it looks a very exciting title and one i'd be happy knowing its on the Sony platform, hopefully staying exclusive.
I also spotted a few occasions where the wording used has me thinking it was intentionally scripted to not mislead but give you another impression than the reality, UT3 and 'exclusive this year' being an example.
EDGE @ Jul 11th 2007 4:51PM
Brian, everyone knows you are anti Sony, and a huge 360 fanboy. Your comment kinda falls flat now.
GRT @ Jul 11th 2007 4:52PM
Yeah, what was up with the exclusive Unreal Tournament stuff? That had to be a word twist, right?
As an MMO fanboy, the NCSoft announcement got me pretty excited, actually.
Brian @ Jul 11th 2007 4:54PM
Other Brian,
What did Nintendo or MS announce that was any better. This was a shitty e3, period. Sony was just significantly less shitty than the others.
humpty @ Jul 11th 2007 5:23PM
Craps... missed everything... where can i find a video of the press conference ??
CJ @ Jul 11th 2007 5:41PM
Overall, I think most can agree that for all companies, E3 did not deliver. Most of this was recycled and next to nothing was put out that was actually info we didnt know. Resident Evil on the 360 was a surprise. But as far as BIG surprises or anything that met the high expectations everyone had, E3 failed.
However, all three proved that they belong. MS, though a tad boring, showed an excellent line up of games coming before the end of the year that will make 360 owners pretty happy (though they were already aware of most games coming out). Nintendo did what it does. It seems hard to disappoint Nintendo fans. And Sony showed that they wont back down, though they offered very little new news as well. So nothing spectacular from anyone really.
I have a question about Home for those who have a PS3. What the hell is it, why does it exist, and do you actually mess with it? I know the basics of it but I honestly dont get any hype or excitement that some may have for it. I am not trying to attack but I guess I dont get the point of it. But then again, I dont get why people play games like The Sims either. Its cool to play video games and what not but that sort of shit makes me think people really need to get a life and live their own lives.
Besides E3, what other happenings are there that showcase what the big 3 will have in the future? I hope something maybe in the fall will happen so we can see what's in store in 08 and possibly some real jaw dropping announcements unlike what weve seen at E3
CJ @ Jul 11th 2007 5:42PM
Oh, just thought I would add one thing.
G4 should be embarrassed for their coverage of E3. It was simply pathetic. Their commercial timing was downright fuckin horrible.
humpty @ Jul 11th 2007 5:48PM
@CJ .. do you even play video games?
mccomber @ Jul 11th 2007 5:54PM
Sony confirmed five big things.
1: MGS4 isn't going anywhere. Didn't surprise a lot of us, but at least maybe we can go without the whole lost exclusive BS for another few months.
2: Haze is a timed PS3 title. Not really new but confirmed.
3: UT3 timed as well; this wasn't quite as well known, I know I'd heard rumblings but it's a great move, especially with the effort and extras being put into it.
4: Killzone2... yeah, it's real. Deal with it or get a ps3.
5: PSP may not get a complete redesign, but some minor changes that are good for new owners. The video out to TV is a nice touch.
Microsoft's biggest announcement was the whole DLC video stuff, and that they're going to have a good fall. Plus they confirmed that yes, having your system available for an extra year means you have more systems sold. Saying this as someone who owns a 360 as of this week; it was pretty boring overall. Just reinforced why I decided to go ahead and get one, but I didn't see anything that made me say wow like KZ2 did.
Oh yeah, and they also displayed that Peter Moore can't play Guitar Hero, and that Jade Raymond shouldn't be allowed to talk without a script to work from.
Nintendo just showed that they really don't care about the traditional gamer audience, that they would rather have moms and casuals playing than the people who grew up with their system. Seriously, they didn't show anything that really got my attention—at least, not in a good way. I know some people love their Wiis, but outside of 3 first party games, what do they have for those of us who don't worship at the throne of Mario?
CJ @ Jul 11th 2007 5:55PM
@ Humpty
Why are you asking that? Of course I do. Do you disagree with me on something?
DxG @ Jul 11th 2007 5:56PM
sony FTW!
