It's over. E3 is finished. Sony, you had a good showing, but we're still unsure of something. The Poll Police have sifted through their archives and have come up with five potential namings of their latest criminal -- the new Sixaxis controller featuring Immersion's TouchSense technology. It's fancy rumble, really. Not like the last-gen off-kilter weight hammers. With that in mind, the Poll Police are asking you, the readers, to pinpoint which of these five is most likely to enter your home. That is, what name would you most like to see emblazoned on the new contoller?
We'll inform you of your results next week. All of the above names are excellent candidates and we're quite interested to see which comes out the victor, though we've got it nailed down to two, ourselves. After you've voted, why not check out last week's poll result? It's right after the jump.

Last time we asked
what announcement was most likely to escape Sony's mouth not at E3, but at the Tokyo Game Show. The results were fairly balanced, but in the end, the announcement of the new Sixaxis with rumble won the debate and guess what? You were right. Sure, some of you may have returned to vote
after the press conference, but we've got no proof and don't really care to search for it. In addition to the controller not getting announced, the PS Store redesign has yet to occur and XMB access during games is still missing. Oh, no extra PS3 colors, either. These are all things that might be sticking around until the Tokyo Game Show, so we'll have to keep an eye on them until then! As always, thanks for voting!

Maybe you could have given an "other" option.
Personally, my favorite has always been DualShake.
ahomelessperson @ Jul 15th 2007 5:37PM
how about what everyone will use.... "hey pass me the --ps3 controller--"
Alex @ Jul 15th 2007 5:47PM
Dual Shock 3...
What it was supposed to be the first time.
Hope it isn't too expensive when its released.
Dante @ Jul 15th 2007 5:48PM
Where is "The Shocker" on that list?
Toby @ Jul 15th 2007 5:55PM
How about "dude, get your own!" thats original! =P
Anpanman @ Jul 15th 2007 6:07PM
@ahomelessperson
Seconded.
Does it really need a new name?
So... someone add 'SixAxis V-spec II' or 'SixAxis Type-R' to that list.
Daniel @ Jul 15th 2007 6:17PM
I always thought the obvious mash-up between Six-axis and TouchSense would be "SixSense". Kind of has a nice ring to it.
Rollin @ Jul 15th 2007 6:20PM
How about none. I like my own concoctions: Senseaxis or Sixaxsense.

Andrew @ Jul 15th 2007 6:28PM
Hmmm. You can't use dual shock name anymore because there are no spinning weights on each controller end. Isn't the new rumble technology suppose to be all over the controller??
Darkhand @ Jul 15th 2007 6:31PM
Someone else suggested Sixsens and that is my choice than all of the suggestioned mentioned above.
qwerter @ Jul 15th 2007 7:33PM
so this controller is gonna be much different than the dualshock2 on the ps2? like will be able to feel vibrations in different parts on the controller?
Matt B @ Jul 15th 2007 7:51PM
@11
Yes.
irshliquor @ Jul 15th 2007 8:36PM
SenseAxis has been my favorite since they announced that the new rumble tech would be called "Touch Sense".
Brad Hodson @ Jul 15th 2007 9:37PM
My vote would be on "Other" if there was one, and I'd propose...
SixAxi2
SIXAXIS, but with a 2 at the end. To me this seems the most viable name proposed. It doesn't sound hokey, it rolls off the tongue (as it is pronounced just the same as SIXAXIS, but maybe an added 2 at the end), and it follows as the second. Also easy text to animate were it advertised.
Chris @ Jul 15th 2007 10:08PM
SevenAxis.
Maximilian @ Jul 15th 2007 10:10PM
well see, the sixaxis had the palindrome going for it soooo...
Bob?
Anna?
A man, a plan, a canal, Panama?
I dunno man... hard to incorporate the vibration in the name.
Bob works though: like, you Bob it around cuz it has motion sensors and it bobs around whilst vibrating. Yea. The PS3 and the Bob controller. Sounds more successful than Micro$oft BOB anyway.
Justin @ Jul 15th 2007 10:14PM
RUMBLELBMUR
Oliver @ Jul 15th 2007 10:20PM
No name change necessary. Six-Axis grown on me.
psn:ummfada @ Jul 15th 2007 11:35PM
KIXAXIS
KICKSASSES
GL @ Jul 15th 2007 11:41PM
Dual Shock 3 is not a good name because it's NOT the Dual Shock. That controller ONLY had rumble. But the SIXAXIS functionality has to be included in the controller name this time.
So, call it the ShockAxsis or RumbleAxis or something like. But you need to at least include the axis functionality in the name. Don't leave that part out or new gamers might just think it just rumbles and that's it.
Mog @ Jul 16th 2007 12:05AM
I think they should steal a page from V-Moda and call it:
Sixaxis Vibe.
That name says it all - it's immediately clear what the new feature is. ("SixSense?" Clever, but...not so much.) And it sounds kinda trendy.
Sean @ Jul 16th 2007 12:17AM
I watched the Sixth Sense today... good movie, seen it before though, and I'm pretty sure M.Night Shamalan (or whatever makes a cameo)... Vibraxis is a dumb name
Negativecool @ Jul 16th 2007 1:24AM
Simplify:
Rumble - rumbl = E
SIXAXIS - IAXIS = SX
S+E+X=
"SEX"
It markets itself.
Negativecool @ Jul 16th 2007 1:25AM
OR
"iAxis"
GodisaMyth @ Jul 16th 2007 4:26AM
I see my name Shockaxis is number 2 behind the predictable Dual Shock 3.
Go Shockaxis
Do I get a prize for coming up with that name on these blogs Joystiq?
DPR @ Jul 16th 2007 11:45AM
I quite like SixSense - It makes sense. (Pun wasn't intented at first :P)
Personally SixAxis has grown on me rather well...
hacked2123 @ Jul 16th 2007 1:22PM
PS3 In-control controllers
Bucket @ Jul 16th 2007 2:01PM
What about RUMBMUR?
grass @ Jul 16th 2007 3:51PM
ha, your supposed to pick from the options people, not create your own, no matter how snazzy the name is. but whatever, i thought shockaxis was what it was going to be called....and yes, the rumble technology is evidently incorperated into the entire controller, not necessarily just the controller handles.
langx @ Jul 16th 2007 8:18PM
They need to make a completely new stick. New design.
The design of the sticks are in the wrong place.
I know people who have used this for years and have never touched the stick. They just use the thumb pad.
I can't believe they rolled out the same junk. How old is this design anyway.
The Dreamcast, Xbox stick has a natural design for your where thumbs are placed.
Thundercizzle @ Jul 20th 2007 7:25PM
I love the idea of branding and naming it Dual Shock 3, but I feel "Dual" implies a past generation. I don't know how they'll make the six axis rumble, but What if it is rumbling all over the controller, as opposed to the two gyros spinning on either side of the dual shock?
UltimateNinja9 @ Jul 22nd 2007 8:18PM
How come KIXAXIS isn't on the list? That's the best possible name for it.
