Disgaea 3 goes to school ... and PS3

Hardcore RPG fans are all weeping somewhere, grateful that Nippon Ichi has announced a new Disgaea game -- and it looks to be exclusive for PS3. The sequel, which is planned for 2008, doesn't appear to make any "next-gen" visual enhancements for the series, but we don't think Disgaea fans will care. As long as this sequel will retain the charm that we've come to expect from the franchise, we believe fans have a lot to look forward to.

if the game doesn't make any visual enhancements (which I don't mind) why make it for the PS3? Why not make it for PS2, which would be financially a better move and can still play on the PS3. Doesn't make sense.

i agree, if you aren't taking advantage of the hardware why make it exclusive to PS3? if made for the PS2 then PS3 users can still play it. SIXAXIS support? what, so we can cycle through menus with a wag of the controller?

if they don't update the graphics any at least make the camera more user-friendly. the camera for Final Fantasy Tactics was loads better IMO.

@ryano: FFT was better than this? FFT's camera kinda sucked, there are units you forget about because they're down in a chasm or hidden between buildings and you don't see them until they destroy your mage with a well-placed arrow.

Why make it to the PS3? because it adds another game to the library and people may buy a system for it. Some of 360's games could be better off in Xbox but they still made it to 360 for increasing the library. Same with many Wii's gimicky games where they just tack on the control and not really using the power of the Wii.

or perhaps they'll make it even larger than the previous 2, thus Blu Ray. i love disgaea so bring it on.

@6: That's because the Wii doesn't have power to use. 90% of this generation of gaming will never port to the Wii, it's just a PS2 on 'roids with a wacky controller. Meanwhile all the Nintendoids counter with the old "it's about the gameplay" argument. I guess if it's all you've got, that's about all you can say.

Sorry for the anti-Nintendo rant, but in my opinion, after the SNES Nintendo just lost their way.

Disgaea 1 and 2 had some issues as well. I could never ever get an angle i wanted, especially in the item creation worlds.

what i liked about FF tactics(playstation version anyway) was how you can manipulate the camera better, more options and maneuverability than Disgaea.

i've never had a problem finding units or forgetting them in FF tactics like you said. i wanted to like Disgaea, but the camera was not as fluid as tactics sorry.

also this is IMO and it means it's a preference that i'm not forcing down your throat. one of the things that brought the score down for many reviewers was the camera.

Well if your mage was in a chasm and you forgot about him, then he wasnt important anyway!!!!!!! LOL

Besides, that's the last place you would want a mage to be with those damage modifiers for height.....yikes

Yeah, i tried to get into disgaea but im just not one of the people that is still into level grinding, "OH Yeah, im level 9000!!!" -Meh

Making it for the ps3 makes no sense.
If they could at least made it in 3D.
Nippon Ichi could have made more money if they make it for ps2.

I'm sorry but although I rather they had made this game for ps2 you guys are somewhat being retarded, think about it why would they make it for ps2 that system should have already died but yet they continue to spit games out for it. Basically ps3 is fail! and if they don't start releasing some games that kick ass for ps3 the system is going to die...like dream cast but w/e disgaea series is awesome and kicks ff tactics ass but that my IMO and for hardcore fans of this franchise its gonna be hard to cough up 500-600$ for a single good game...
