Jack Tretton wishes Microsoft's Peter Moore "best of luck"
The oft-tattooed Microsoft executive, Peter Moore, is finally saying goodbye to the system he helped make a success. Moore was always opinionated, and could be seen bad-mouthing the PlayStation more than once. In fact, one time, he called the system a "Dreamcast."Moore is now going off to EA, an important third-party partner to Sony. We're hoping he won't bring a Microsoft-flavored bias to the company (although one wonders if that's already in place). It seems that SCEA President Jack Tretton is also looking to ensure good relations with Moore: "We wish Peter the best of luck in his new role at Electronic Arts and look forward to working with him. We have an outstanding relationship with EA and their sports products have been incredibly successful on all our platforms. I am sure this will continue with Peter now at the helm."

didn't this happen just HOURS after he called Sony "failing"?
well, I guess the only thing failing is his job. ;) as well as 1 billion repair cost that associated with... you guessed it, FAILING xbox360.

It amazes me that corporate execs like this...that drive systems into the ground and are at the helm for billion dollar boondoggles continue to land on their feet.
EA shareholders should be VERY worried.

Can you say anti-trust?
Andy @ Jul 17th 2007 9:17PM
Hmmm...
Does anyone else think this is a good idea?
Have 2K sports make games for PS3
Have EA sports make games for 360
That way they can get the most out of online and blu-ray for the 360 and PS3 respectively.
In the end it doesn't matter who is at the top its the devs at the bottom that make the difference.
This song illustrates my point:

Madden 09 Xbox 360 Exclusive...

"Madden 09 Xbox 360 Exclusive..."
Why doesn't Sony make any football games. They got around the liscensing issue with 2K with MLB they could do it with football too.
If Sony made football games they could prove 1080p 60FPS can be done if your not lazy.

what happened when Sony's exec. left? someone refresh these memory banks please?

Moore leaving Microsoft for family reasons - highly doubtful. I'm sure an executive shake-up was called due to the one-billion dollar bill that Microsoft has to foot in repairs and refunds. The XBOX360 community seems to adore Moore, and if Microsoft publicly axed him it would have pissed off their community.

From the Company I hate the Most, to the Company I hate 2nd Most...
Microsoft is Killing me with Vista "Poor excuse for operating system" I guess the 360 is where they tested their model for Backwards Compatibility which they now moved to Vista.
EA "Monopoly #2" is Moore's new venue...
Why not accept a challenge, why not work for a company that doesn't Buy it's way into supremacy...
Oh... that's right... he drove that company out of the hardware business... Sega was killed by Moore.
This dude is a Loser, anyone could hop into the helm of a money powered Monopoly and make it go well... Heck a monkey could do that.
Tattoo a Donkey on your arm Peter cause that is what you are... a Jack A#$
By the way Andy, Sony got around the MLB License because 2K bought it and allowed everyone else to make Baseball games except for EA. They did that because they were making a statement to EA since they bought the NFL Exclusivity. I want NFL2K series back so bad, EA has yet to make a good Madden since they bought their Monopoly License on the NFL.

Very interesting... I don't think we have heard the last of this.

Peter Moore... going to EA??? **Falls Over AGAIN**
This is probably the GREATEST DAY to be a PS3 owner! With Moore being 'on the job' over at EA, we can expect the company to fail within 3-5 years! Next year's Madden will probably be broken and NOT even include HDD support for the 360! Can you imagine the kind of damage he could actually DO to EA??? =D LOL! A part of me wishes he gets put in charge of EA complaints department! XD
Qayin @ Jul 18th 2007 8:23AM
I think Peter will be alright. He might actully help EA make beter sports games,oh and madden will never be an exclusive do you know ho many people buy this game just for PS2 not to mention other systems! PS3 fanboys should rejoice because M$ caint do any better than Petter and with Sony gaining momentum every thing will pan out. For us!!!! P.S. Joystiq didnt make a big deal about this!!!! A Joystiq NAH,NAH NANANAH !!!!!!!!!!

Wtf Sony shouldnt be talkin about EA being an important third party consider they have never been on the top selling charts at all..... and Dreamcast is right the system sucks
armrob1 @ Jul 18th 2007 9:15AM
this is how it's done in the corporate world, you don't get kicked out "officially", you resign for "personal reasons".
the 360 is still losing money, the HD-DVD drive barely picks up, they're a total failure in Japan, they're getting an asswhooping from the Wii in North America, and 1 billion $ aditionnal loss, I think Moore had it coming . after E3, everyone was saying how they thought MS didn't bring anything new, his time was done.
for him to go to EA is not eally relevant because he's just gonna follow the way EA does business, nothing more. EA can't afford to give 360 exclusives because it will kill them to do so. MS can't afford to pay them the money they would lose with such a move.
for those who think madden is important to the life of PS3, think again. outside the US, 95% of gamers (Xbox, PS3 or nintendo) have never played madden and most likely never will. even if Superbowl champions are called "world champions", it only happens in the US. NFL Europa was cancelled after a few years because people just don't care for that game !
i think it's time MS re-evaluates the business. it seems selling cheaper than Sony was so smart after all.

never$$hort @ Jul 18th 2007 4:23PM
I will give Moore some credit for at least jumping off 360's sinking ship before it completely goes under... By the way I hate Madden.
KillarClown @ Jul 18th 2007 5:05PM
I agree Jase.. he's no fun to read either. With his pompous ass attitude and short pants.
