Heavenly Sword is a trilogy -- second story already complete

If you're curious, it's right around the 11:00 mark in the interview (the last minute of it, really). Also mentioned were downloadable content possibilities (based on what players would like to see added) and support for Home. The sequel depends on the original game being treated to a successful run, so let's all pitch in and make sure Heavenly Sword makes it through the trilogy loop.

well, lets hope the trilogy starts off with an awesome first installment.

I wonder what the boss battles are going to be like.. with God of War, there were normal sized people all the way up to titans that take up half the screen.

I don't like that idea at all unless the first one is high caliber. Even then I am skeptical. I like playing original IP's or games that bring something new to the table.
Don't get me wrong. I will probably love the first one but I get bored playing the same game over and over again.

Consider yourself lucky that you aren't a Nintendo fan. 20 years + of Mario. ouch. :)

Don't worry they'll make sure it's not the same over and over again. Yes it will be basically the same game, but you might play a different character (remember the sword is said to be deadly) with different abilities and new combos you'll need to master. This will come along with a new story, and some improvements or added things that the gamers would have wanted to see in the first installment. I doubt that any franchise keeps on going through it's history while not improving a tiny bit.
This is great news, it means that we'll probably get three exclusive kick-ass games. :D

I definitely think she dies after watching the E3 trailer, there is a scene in the trailer, towards the end, that seems to be a funeral scene with petals on the water and some of the other characters in the game looking towards the camera with sad expressions on their faces

I'm rather excited about this game, and now NT are planning sequels which can only mean good things. I only hope they push the graphics and gameplay envelope with each installment.
BlackBeltJones @ Jul 20th 2007 3:48AM
Well that spoils the end of the first game, now we know that the sword isn't really going to kill her in the end like they've said. But I guess you don't go to the trouble of creating a promising IP and then kill of the main character in the first game.
reccaz @ Jul 20th 2007 4:10AM
Doesn't have to be a sequel might aswell be a prequel, so yeah, she can die in the first game. We simply don't know...
Dreadhead541 @ Jul 20th 2007 10:28AM
i can guarantee you that Nariko doesn't die. This was taken from the official site:
"Heavenly Sword is a tale of revenge, courage and self-discovery. For as long as the clan can remember, the prophecies have told of a son, born of their leader, who will lead them to their rightful place in heaven. So when the leader of the clan is born a daughter, Nariko, it seems as though the prophecy shall pass, unfulfilled.
Or so they all believe...
After her father is murdered by a bloodthirsty rival, Nariko sees one last chance to change her fate and avenge her father's death. To accomplish this mission she must wield the Heavenly Sword, a weapon so powerful that every blow she strikes brings her closer to death. As she fights, Nariko will not only come to understand that revenge is a hollow endeavour, but also discover her own worth and sense of place in the world. Only then will she be able to take command of the sword, becoming its master rather than its slave, transforming her lonely, cursed life, and fulfilling her destiny."
ConteZero @ Jul 20th 2007 10:42AM
Nariko cannot die, she must marry Kratos at the end of the third game and give birth to Chuck Norris :-D
Well, let's just say that the game has all the permises to become the PS3 followup to God of War and either if it's not that stunning from a selling point there will be always space for a second episode in the future.
Anyway Playstation 3 owners are so hungry for games that they'll buy almost everything from september to december (at least that's valid for me).

@ConteZero
Sad but true.
Popfrogs @ Jul 20th 2007 12:25PM
Yeah if the prophecy says a man will save them, then Nariko will die but give birth right before that. I imagine as you play the game she appears to be more and more pregnant. :)

If you think about it the story is very well done and if you seen the way that they've actually made the game with the full motion captures and having Andy Serkis direct it!! It's got the makings to be something really special!! As far as a trilogy and the skeptics that follow if you remember WAY BACK in the day when a game called Metal Gear came out on the NES people thought that was gonna flop and not go no where now we PS3 users have MSG4 the end to a 20 year saga!! So don't sell anything short cause you just don't know!!
