Star Wars Battlefront may use 333MHz
If there's one upcoming game on PSP that needs every ounce of power the system can produce, it's Star Wars Battlefront. The upcoming online multiplayer game is ambitious, even by console standards. But, so far we've been underwhelmed by its lackluster graphics and sluggish framerate. The slow performance of the game could be a hindrance to actual gameplay, which is worrisome.
In a E3 interview with Gamespot, it appears that a Lucasarts representative confirmed use of PSP's full 333MHz capabilities. (Watch video at the 7 minute mark.) "Well, we're teaming up with Sony, so absolutely it's going to take advantage of that."
But ... did he appear not to fully understand what he was talking about? Watch for yourself, and you'll see his somewhat shaky response. We hope Star Wars Battlefront will take advantage of everything the PSP can do -- it certainly needs it.
[Thanks, Don!]

Hope so. Framerate will make or break this.

The 333 MHz WLAN issue was only in 3.02 OE, I think. There shouldn't be any issues with running at 333 MHz and using Wi-Fi.

Yeah, I wonder if the guy has even SEEN a Star Wars movie... "General" Ackbar??? Shouldn't that be ADMIRAL Ackbar??
But all Star Wars nerdiness aside, I do have to wonder if he knew anything about the unlocked 333mhz. His comments about that coupled with him talking about the controls ( he says: in flight, [lock-on] will be a toggle switch...uhh, wha?? but on the ground it will be R button) all that makes his credibilty a bit iffy.
SW battlefront I & II are my all-time fave games on Xbox, but even the console versions aren't known for having outstanding graphics & smooth animation. Granted, the vids for SWBF:RS are still pretty stiff & jerky, but once you factor ctual play into it, it could still be an outstanding game. Another thing to consider, all the vids lack any HUD or targeting reticules, so maybe they are from early builds of the game.

Geez has anyone actually read the Gamespot impressions of this game?
"The other thing we noticed from our time with Renegade Squadron was that the graphics are shaping up quite nicely. The frame rate was solid, even when there was a lot of weapon-fire onscreen, which was happening pretty much constantly. Not only were there lots of effects to be seen, but the lasers and explosions that we saw looked quite nice."
PSP fanboy seems to criticize this game alot but I'm keeping optimistic since I've always loved the Battlefront series. I won't pass judgement till i've played the final product.

PSPfanboy over critisizes everything. This site is run by joystiq, who hate playstation/love the crapbox known as wii

Unfortunately, if you look at 99.9% of previews out of E3 they all pretty much boil down to "Yay! Bestest game EVAR!!!"
What do you guys want the site to be like:
Andrew Yoon, posting on July 25th - New PSP game announced! Best game EVAR!!! Preorder now, 'cuz it is for the PSP, the bestest hardware EVAR with NO FLAWS!!! BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!!!!
C'mon - Andrew does all of us a *service* with critical analysis - it is done way too little in this industry. At least he shows some respect for your money, unlike so many other sites.

I played it the Star Wars celebration - it was so choppy that I gave up after about 30 seconds - a real shame as I had high hopes for this game.

*Gets TXA some free booze and hookers.* Yeah, I know you're a family man, but I'm just trying to give you the kind of offering I would present to a god of common sense and dignity. Well said, and well done.

You know I have been a long time reader of this webpage and this is my first post. I do have to say that I have read many times in the past of how comments on Andrews part really seem like he is dissing the system or many games giving a bad rep before they have a chance. Maybe I don't understand what it is a to be a fanboy but I would think at the very lest the Moderator would make more of an attempt to shed a postive light on the PSP and its community.

You know, I've been a long-time reader, and I don't seem to understand how Andrew's constructive viewing can be considered negative by a bunch of over sensitive babies who need to deal with their bottom rash before they get on this site.
In fact, I have another friend--one who's been reading this site for an even longer period--who thinks Andrew can sometimes come off as a blatant fanboy! Okay? It's called being constructive. Andrew never dissed the system. There's only two issues here: Either you people have fallen to such an all-time low that you've lost meaning of the word "diss" or you just want a fuckin' bird-brain for a moderator, feeding you your daily requirement of patronising BS!
Sheesh!
