Big David Jaffe announcement coming Friday
David Jaffe has updated his blog with word that he'll be making a big announcement at the end of this week. The wording of his post is odd, and seems to imply that he may be announcing details on his new company. Here's what he had to say:"...well big announcement for ME. It's not like I'll be revealing what game we've been working on, stuff like that. Well actually, I will be able to talk a little bit about ONE of the games for the first time..."
Hrrm, what's that? Confirmation that he's developing multiple games at once? That would be a big change from his previous policy of one game at a time, but would make sense if he's going to do the official announcement of his new development company. Add in that Sony wants to send out a press release before Jaffe updates his blog, and you got a tasty bit of curiousness. Check back here (or here) at 9:00 AM PST to find out what our favorite foul-mouthed, liberal spouting, drunken PlayStation developer has to say.

I can't help but wonder if it will be that he is no longer tied to Sony...

We nee more David Jaffes on this earth. The guy is just damn cool.

Calling all Cars was ass... he should get back into God of War.
Consolcwby @ Jul 25th 2007 7:09PM
I loved God of War, but I just don't care about Jaffe or what he's up to I find the man to be slightly annoying. But if he's leaving Sony, he better have a damn good reason! =D

My money is on Twisted Metal for PS3 after the photo popped up a while back...

He's made it abundantly clear that he's not interested in making games like GOW anymore. He wants to make games like CAC from now on.
We'll leave it to Barlog for GOW III.

I like him, he's very emotional, passionate.
Great pic, btw nice reference to CAC.
I think we could only benefit by someone like him branching out, doing new things. Three GOWs. Time to change, you were perfect there, and the only thing you can do now is something totally different.
I almost imagine a psychonauts sort of thing (with better graphics and framerate) as Jaffe begins now to ponder his own mind.
I think people who hate on him may be uncomfortable with their own emotionality. We might call them "emotophobic".
Can Jaffe evolve? Sure.
Does he need to?
Not really. He's a rockstar.
But if he looks at successful rockstars (pun not at all intended, people-- think Stones, Depeche, Bowie, etc), he'll see that they all had this intense emotionality, then a series of huge evolutionary changes, to adapt.

So when do we start getting announcements of announcements of an announcement? Cuz that would be so very meta...
*yawn*

jaffe has already made it abundantly clear that there is no new company and he does still work for sony. i am surprised colin would be so foolhardy as to imply even that he might not be working directly under sony.

I thought this was PS3 Fanboy, not David Jaffe Fanboy. Why not wait until the the news is out, see if it pertains to the PS3, and then post it here?
David Jaffe is overrated. His "Heartland" game is proof of that. Why people confuse their political BS with our entertainment is beyond me. But what's really beyond me is funding a project like that. Wouldn't people funding games want the games to be, you know, fun? So folks buy them? Who is going to buy David Jaffe's personal political wankfest? The readers of DavidJaffeFanboy.com, no doubt.

He never said he only does one game at a time. He said recently that he wanted to sit back and be less hands-on with a lot of the games he was working on such as the God of War series. So just as a lot of other game creators do, he would keep a series he's working on alive by being the producer, and get to devote more attention to side projects etc.
Expect a PSP game announcement, followed by a PS3 game that rhymes with wristed petal later this year.

The pics of long corridors leads me to suspect one thing...PAC MAN in FULL 1080P____eat it MS
Andy @ Jul 26th 2007 10:59AM
I love wristed petal games.
Anyone else find it odd that theres a post about him announcing actual news on Friday?
Hirsbrunner @ Jul 26th 2007 11:19AM
Man, Jaffe really needs attention, doesn't he? It's like he's starved for it. Pretty sad.
Maybe he's going to announce that he in fact LOVES Joystiq and will soon be writing for them.

I love the artwork of Brute!
Jaffe is pretty overrated in my book. Good luck to him though
