Resident Evil 5 trailer gets extended

The new extended Resident Evil 5 trailer is available on the PlayStation Store (and here). The brief teaser we saw at E3 is expanded upon, showing off some of the more incredible environments and terrifying "non?" zombies to be featured in this next-gen sequel. And yes, it's all in real time.

Does anyone else get the creeping suspicion that Capcom is gonna fuck all of us over and announce this as a 360 exclusive sometime next year?

i think they might.. i didnt see a ps logo at the end, only the 360 chime.

freaking A, put my vote in as well for hoping Capcom doesn't pull a beeotch move. Especially with the PS3 gaining more momentum heading into 2008, Capcom would be wise to stick with giving the PS3 a version of RE5 to expand their sales ya dig?

I wouldn't call it sad - I would call it a sound business maneuver. Microsoft is a relative newcomer with a place to carve out in the marketplace. What's the best way to do that? Pay developers the big bucks to keep their shit on your system.

Frankly I wish Sony would do the same thing - it's not like their pockets aren't deep too.

I don't know why everyone's acting so shocked at the whole "cash for exclusives" thing. I always just assumed that's how it was done. It's like gamers are manufacturing the same type of bullshit offense that surburbanites displayed over 15 seconds of Janet Jackson's *partial* tit.

I'm only annoyed because I really want to play this game (far more than Devil May Cry 4) and I don't want to have to resort to buying some shoddily built piece of shit like the 360. I also don't want to be counted among the legions of pubescent twits and meatheads that seem to comprise most of the consoles ownership (or so it would seem based on 90% of the "professional" editorials and message board postings I read).

Considering the trailer's on the PS Store, I'm willing to bet we'll get this game. On the other hand, it looks amazing and I'll be pissed if it's a gimped version or ugly port.

Looks like RE4, but in Africa. No zombie, villagers throwing knives and what not. I also saw a guy with a bag over his head, just like the chainsaw guys in RE4. Oh, well, people will fall for it.

How the hell would it be announced as a 360 exclusive after it was put up on the store? :/ I know Sony are stupid, but THAT stupid?

Also, the game looks extraordinarily uninspiring. "Not zombies and not Ganados", well they looked a helluva lot like Ganados to me, gameplay looks almost identical except with an extra combat move or two. Also Chris looks nothing like his previous incarnations, which makes me cry.

This game is definitely coming to both consoles, but this footage is on the 360? Lame, don't tell me 360 is the primary platform, that would suck for us.

By the time it releases (Capcom say 2009), ps3 will hopefully be miles ahead anyway. So they might change their tune.

I was really impressed by how good this game looks... until I learned near the end I was actually watch Xbox 360 footage. Now I've decided the graphics suck and will probably look 80 bajillion times better on the PS3. Capcom's not stupid enough to only release it on the 360, are they? Why would they want it to suck 80 bajillion times more on the 360 when it would be so much better on ONLY the PS3? Duh.

I think you're onto something ClarkyCat, after watching the trailer I felt like I was watching RE4 with more action, which to me isn't a bad thing, just slightly disappointing. Las Plagas!?

And Tom, that's pure ignorance to say you thought the game looked great until you learned it was 360 footage. The game looks good period. You'll be able to play it on your PS3. That's all that matters to me.

Contrast is way too high for continuous gameplay. This stark contrast would be good for when you step from dark to light, but not continuously... of course, with the hues they're using, lowering contrast will make it look more like... Metal Gear Solid 4... and they don't want to look like someone else.

I have to say, the textures in this game are awesome, the character movements are wonderful, and... there is no frame-rate skipping!

One wonders how a cheap over-heating piece of junk can achieve this.

I only hope the ps3 version is JUST AS GOOD. Doesn't have to be better.

But one wonders, what kind of programming prowess will be required to pull this from the ps3? And will they?

We shall see...
