Since nothing emphasizes the street cred and indie-vibe of an alternative music show like having a massive corporate sponsor, Sony has announced that they are sponsoring Lollapallooza this year and will be having a major presence at the event. Attendees at the show will be able to play a wide variety of PlayStation titles, including both
Lair and
Heavenly Sword on the PlayStation 3. Also shown will be
Buzz and
Singstar on the PS2 and
Parappa on the PSP. Sony will even be having contests and competitive games to entertain you, in case you're not real into the musical lineup this year (and with Pearl Jam headlining, nobody would blame you).
Anybody hear planning on hitting up
Lair-apallooza? (Sorry had to do it.) If so, let us know what you think of the games!

Hey!
Whats wrong with Pearl Jam???
They're one of my favorite bands.
I have Pearl Jam on my PS3!!
They're one of the best headliners for a while!
ChewyDogg @ Jul 30th 2007 8:01PM
Pearl Jam > you.
Jason B. @ Jul 30th 2007 8:35PM
Mushrooms, there is already a demo of Heavenly Sword.
mccomber @ Jul 30th 2007 8:25PM
Lollapallooza is about as indie as, well, Sony.

O_o ...I always thought that Lollapallooza was for emos and lesbians (emo lesbians?)... so why is Sony going to sponser it and have PS3s there?... are some of those ds titty-flicking games coming on the PS3 or sumptin'?... o_O

This was actually a smart move-- I don't know if "the kids" know or care about Lollapalooza but Sony's thirtysomething crowd will be keyed in to this. This gives Sony instant rep with thirty-year old guys who love the days of their ps2's but can't quite decide to ask the wife if he can get a ps3, so he takes her to Lollapalooza, sponsored by Sony, and WHEEEE!!!
Just kidding. It was one of many multi-faceted smart moves (almost directly after the dumb ones-- like those commercials!@)

Anyone who has seen PJ live knows the truth!

Pearl Jam is a great band. Lollapalooza isn't about emo and lesbians, either. I hate emo, but I love lollapalooza and PJ.

It's going to rock Lolapalooza? That's great because Lolapalooza hasn't rocked in about 110 or 12 years.
justin @ Jul 31st 2007 12:20AM
Hey i like lesbians...on my tv!
Consolcwby @ Jul 31st 2007 2:58AM
@Brian Spence: What? No lesbians?? -_- i'm not going then!

Hopefully Sony arn't stupid enough to show JUST heavenly sword and Lair.. Both of these titles are quite niche in their gaming genre, and whilst they demonstrate the power of the PS3, people also need to see compelling games.
In addition, if I was setting up the show, I would ensure a sprinkling of SuperStardustHD, and a pre-release copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (or at least some driving games), ensure Motrostorm is close to hand also..

I guess M$ is too broke to sponser any events lately with their billion dollar losses... Plus they wouldn't have any games to show off anyways and they would probably overheat..lol

Thats great to hear that Sony is sponsoring this event, BUT THERE IS NO NEED TO DISRESPECT PEARL JAM. pEARL JAM IS AWSOME.
