Still no solid release date for Heavenly Sword

Since we love random discussions, what if it gets delayed back to November for no apparent reason? There are a ton of titles hitting in November and this "launch title" would not do well to suffer from any more delays. It needs to get in the hands of the people as soon as possible, and if that's September, then fine. We don't know if we'll be able to handle another delay!

One thing I think Sony did not realize with the PS3 is the increased dev times. If Insomniac didn't use its full dev time for Resistance it wouldn't have been a launch title.
Steve @ Jul 30th 2007 2:05PM
omg! this was supposed to be a launch title? a little late for that, eh? i'll still buy it.
Steve @ Jul 30th 2007 2:07PM
and to #1: Insomniac is for Resistance and Ratchet/Clank, not Heavenly Sword. Ninja Theory did HS.
Michael K. @ Jul 30th 2007 2:13PM
who cares when this is released, its just an overhyped turd. the ps3 doesnt just need games, it needs GOOD games, so crap like this shouldnt be rushed out, if time can salvage it, let it have the time.
Dahk @ Jul 30th 2007 2:20PM
This announcment is just for Europe isn't it?
The North American release date was always a solid Sep. 4th was it not? I remember, cuz it was supposed to be out a day before my birthday =(.
It was only the Euro and Japan release dates that wavered.

Is it me, or are the xbox360 fanboys making Microsoft appear to be unethical and immoral by association? It's unfortunate that Microsoft seem to attract people you'd normally call hicks, trailer trash, or Jerry Springer crowds (that are bad tempered and mean) if they want to keep the respectable and proud image that I once had for them as a corporation as a whole. Their customers in their gaming department has eroded that image pretty much permanently now.
I wasn't into this console war thing, but looking at the xbox360 fanboy behaviors, I now know that I'll never buy an xbox360 ever because I will never join that group.
I hope natural selection takes over for the better for human beings and weed out mean people over time in the course of humanity. Stop them from mating and reproducing. Let them die out. Over time, we won't need to lock our doors anymore. We won't need prisons. We won't need to prottect our children from abuse or hurt. XBOX360 fanboys will be genetically extinct and washed off from the human race. Undesirable traits should not pass to the next generation if this world is logical.

I know Heavenly Sword is made by Team Ninja. I used Resistance to illustrate a point.
I think as time goes on we will see more loose release dates like Q1 2008 due to delays.
MYPS3KilledMy360 @ Jul 30th 2007 2:36PM
@4 same thing i said about halo3 when i saw the preview i thought this is a joke!!! i meen seeying that first cg trailer and talk of that actually being ingame i was like AWSOME!!!( i sound like im 12)they should delay this game, up the visuals even higher. MS and fanboys alike claim the 360 to have better graphics but with a headline game(the one thats supposed to break records) like this the last installment and you dont push the that white box to the edge or whats left of it im am kind of let down, there really hoping that GoW war steals H3s thunder. FPS are supposed to have top of the line graphics and halo allow thoug ok at the moment could do better. as for HS i dont see how you call this game over hyped. i dont see anybody boasting how much better this games is than anything. your another xboxfanboy who shoots anything sony related. the devs arent claiming anything really. if its hyped its because theres finally another game coming out for the ps3 and its the begining of a long chain of great games to come smashing your wallet right after another.

Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones...
Plenty of fanboy turds on both sides of this fence. Although I suppose it only becomes evident when you own all the systems. Actually, the Big N fans seem to be the most mature, and troll the least.
SuicideNinja @ Jul 30th 2007 3:04PM
Based off the demo, I'd say there's no rush. Regardless of what reviewers have said...it feels like God of War with no jump button. And I must say...having to shake the controller for a combo is completely asanine. Stick with Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
Lot's of 360 antifans, that's for sure. When the PS3 show's off it's over-hyped potential, then there will be room for argument, right? Right now the PS3 is stuck with lackluster games, unnatural motion controls, and a completely non-friendly user interface. The updates are helping, but we still need games.
Deviation @ Jul 30th 2007 3:36PM
You don't have to use the motion controls at all in Heavenly Sword. Go back into the demo and go to options. You can change it so you use the X button to initiate aerial combos. Smack someone in ranged stance with Triangle, follow up with X to knock 'em in the air and wail away with an aerial combo.
Same with the aftertouch, you can change that so it's controlled with the left analog stick.
Deviation @ Jul 30th 2007 3:38PM
Oh, and don't go by the demo when it comes to progress on the game - that's the same demo that was being played by the gaming press since May of this year, only less of it.
KeVil @ Jul 30th 2007 3:41PM
The problem is there's always a very vocal minority that gives fans of a particular console a bad reputation. I gave up on XBox Live due to the childish behaviour of some of the people I encountered. But this could happen in any situation.
If Sony want to really revolutionize console online gaming they need to release software to run dedicated servers from a PC and allow people/clans to moderate their own servers. This is one of the reasons I'm so fond of PC gaming.
Xoonaka @ Jul 30th 2007 3:47PM
I really liked using the controller to initiate the air combo. I found it easier then going from Triangle to X, since I can just hit Triangle as I use the motion control.
I had a lot of fun with the demo, so I can't wait to get the final game and see what it's like.
Dahk @ Jul 30th 2007 4:22PM
I liked doing it for the aftertouch, but I couldn't consistently pull off the aerial combo. Do you just jerk the controller? Or do you have to shake it?
@ KeViL, hopefully Epic shows a good example with UT3 =).
And I think that PS3killed360 kid got killed by a 360 lol. He went nuts.
And really, all consoles have the fanboyturds, just look at the comments from sites like GameTrailers.com - they come from all three sides. lol
Laurens Holst @ Jul 30th 2007 4:37PM
@7: Team Ninja and Ninja Theory aren’t the same studios either.
Popfrogs @ Jul 30th 2007 5:00PM
#13:
Actually you don't shake the controller to get the air combos, you lift it up. It makes perfect sense if you think about it that way, because you're jerking the controller up like the character is doing with the swords on chains. I don't want it to turn into some Wii-tard fest where you're slinging your arms back and forth across the room smashing flower vases, but a little touch here and there is cool.

Huh? While i personally didnt care for the demo, the game is by no means crappy. You make me and all 360fanboys look bad. asshole.
Secret
I have to disagree with you, apple fanboys are by far the worst. You dont even have to say anything bad about their product. Just say that "x" device has more/better features than one of their "i"products and they shit a brick (remember the helio vs iphone chart?). And even if you pull up undeniable proof that one something is better than an i- anything they fall back on the "its not about the features its about the expirence" excuse.
So my list of the worst company fanboys looks like this:
1.Apple/GM
**2.Nintendo (go ahead, say something bad about the wii)
3.ps3/360 (yes we are equally bad and equally annoying)
** As WEBMASTER pointed out, they do tend to say quiet, but mostly because there is rarely any nintendo news worth talking about.
What was the topic of this post again?
ryano @ Jul 30th 2007 6:10PM
so lemme get this straight ..no jump button whatsoever?
Jldowning @ Jul 30th 2007 8:19PM
There is no Jump button, however there is no reason to need to jump in the game.
It took me about 5 play throughs before I understood that this game was not god of war, it was something much better. I wish they didn't even release the demo, and waited for a longer one, or the game.
All these idiots (and not so idiots, who only played once) play the demo, don't don anything cool in the game but hit square and get through two simple begining game encounters, then call it a easy button masher. However anyone whos played past the demo can tell you, button mashing, unlike god of war, will NOt get you through this game.
Also the Cut Scenes are by far, the BEST of any video game, ever. If you aren't into this game yet, and judged it by its Cover (or super short demo) At least download a few cut scenes to see acting that dwarfs most motion pictures.
Consolcwby @ Jul 30th 2007 10:03PM
Allow me to add this:
All the people who reported on this game, calling it a "God of War-like game", pretty much altered expectations and perceptions for Heavenly Sword. Having played the two God of War games and playing the short demo the first time, I was surprised to find that HS seemed so shallow. When I went back to the main screen and looked in all of the menu items, I found the instructions for the controls. I was shocked, and a little overwhelmed at the scheme. After making a few mental notes about what does what, I replayed the demo - and loved it! What did I love about it the second time around? The depth. I found that I could control the fights - not just my character, but the fights themselves to an extent. Instead of just whacking away at enemies who seemed to come at me wave after wave, I found I could play it cooly and calculatingly. Executing combos at the right time was NOT the main gameplay mechanic - it was knowing WHICH combos worked most effectively given a certain situation. When enemies attack, I simply wait and deliver a counter - and then pick my next victim and execute a maneuver. Aerial combos are like the icing on the cake. Cool to look at, and effective at certain times (like taking out the last guy)! Racking up style points (balls? whatever) and then performing a devestating attack is not the thrust of the game - knowing WHEN to perform that attack IS. This game, whether it suceeds or fails commercially will likely be one that is talked about fondly (and perhaps even cultishly - FF7 anyone?) years from now. I really have that feeling it will happen.
So, for those of you who "get it" when it comes to Heavenly Sword's gameplay - welcome to a new club and a new IP! May it last longer than Nariko is supposed to!
And for those of you who don't "get it" or just plain hate on it - go back to whatever turns you on. Maybe one day, you'll figure out what went wrong.

Honestly man I think you could say that about anyone who's a fanboy of anything, doesn't matter if it's a ps3,360,wii,or pc fanboy. Whatever it is that they are so fanatical (while being condescending) about will always make people dislike said product/thing.
(see New York Yankees, and LA Lakers)

I couldn't have said that any better!! Cheers!
@13
Heavenly Sword is not GoW it's not Ninja Gaiden it has it's own style and people that are true gamers know this! HS combat system is different and therefor alot of people complain bout a jump button and about how its hard to do this and that, no it's not! It requires a bit more skill and you need to learn it, but once you learn it the game flows and stands on it's own. I'm not trying to jump on anybodies band wagon but I give credit when its due and I believe Ninja Theory has done a good job bring'n something new to the action game genre.
As far as the aerial combos I too had trouble with it too but really all it is is timing and I have mastered it now, it's really just a flick of the wrist upwards that I do but its up to you its' actually pretty cool!!
