DiRT messing up our PS3s this September
DiRT, Codemaster's rally car racing game, has been officially confirmed for a September release (several months after the PC/360 versions were released). They've also released a sexy new trailer showing off some of the nice damage modeling in the game, which we've conveniently embedded above for your perusal.
The developers of DiRT have said that they feel that the PS3 version is the best version of the game, with an vastly more stable frame rate, more polished graphics, and full 7.1 uncompressed audio. It's a shame they're not fixing the broken, crappy multiplayer -- but the extras they're packing in are appreciated regardless. Get ready for more offroad mayhem come September.

Shit, I'm not one to be partial to racing games, but that actually looks fun. Taking into account all the realism, I think I'd enjoy something like that. Boo to GT for no damage!

That is great and all that the PS3 version is said to be better. I dont care if its "better" as long as its good. It could be exactly the same as long as its a good port. To say its better just makes me think, "sweet, a good port for once"
:)

@2 Exactly. Finally ps3 port of awesomeness. I am a massive racing fan. I cant wait for this game to hit shelves. I have it on pc but dont wanna drop $500 to get enough ram and cpu to play it. my vid card doesnt suck but my cpu is the min cpu for the game :( Congrats to them for making a killer ps3 racing game.

Instead of 'perusal,' the article could have said, "For your arousal."
The sort of funny thing that the fanboy used to do, before things got so serious! (Mom and Dad are watching, I know, I know...)

This is correct. And they should be proud. Finally, a car runs into something at high speed and the front is totalled, the car is useless.
This is exactly what I was recommending Polyphony do, having seen the capability in simpler games such as Burnout.
I know that Burnout, being arcade, does not have all the variables to worry about, that GT5 might.
However, Dirt, like GT5, is a simulation. And they appear to have pulled it off, much better than the wonky (I'll take none instead, please) damage in 360's Forza.
Obviously, GT has more cars, maybe more detail in the simulation engine (I have no idea)-- so they're dealing witha sharper curve, not to mention Sony pushing for 1080p (wonder what Dirt is).

This looks great and all, but from what I played on the 360, it's just not as much fun as Motorstorm. Guess I'm more partial to arcade racers though, even the GT series started to lose my interest with it's last round on the ps2.
Then again, considering that we ps3 owners get to enjoy both off-roaders...

Though I'm actually one to DISLIKE damage and the arcade-ish feel, I believe GT5 was reported to have car damage. I'm not too sure about the prologue version, but the final version should.
I actually love GT4 for all its realism and customization. With the Driving Force Pro, its just awesome lol.
