Other than doubling the sales of the PS3 in Japan,
Hot Shots Golf 5 teed up to hit the one millionth PS3 sold in Japan the other day. While selling one million consoles in Japan should have been simple beyond belief, Sony should still revel in the feeling while they can. Will the game make a splash on US shores when it hits in a matter of months? Perhaps, perhaps not. As far as
Hot Shots Golf 5 goes, it's one of the best-selling PS3 games in Japan to date and we're not surprised. It is, after all, their most popular domestic franchise developed internally. The question now is, will Japan sell 2 million PS3's by the end of the year?

I enjoyed the demo from the Japanese PS Store. It was fun and yet had plent of depth to it. I only bought one hot shots golf game for the PS2 but the graphics as well as the kawaii characters are tempting me more and more.

I want it to happen... but I'm a pessimistic realist.

@ Alex -- that's so funny! I'm an optimistic idealist, as you could probably have figured from the whole Warhawk score-changing post from yesterday. It's a tough road for both of us!

Been playing the import for 4 days straight now. It's core golf game is near perfect and the unique online play is addictive as hell. I'm glad it's selling and pushing the system. If you're even remotely interested in it, don't be afraid to grab the import.

PS3 had already reached a 1mil install base in Japan before this game was released.

When is this game expected in US. I can't wait!

I can't wait myself for the US release. I have owned every game in the series. I also can't wait for the online play, it's gonna be sweet.
Do the Japanese even celebrate xmas?

I played the online beta for Everybodys Golf, as we call it here, on the PS2.
That's been my only experience with the series so far but the online Tournament mode made a laughing stock of Tiger Woods 2005 at the time.
Yet EA still haven't put this feature in yet!
Can't wait for this, but I'll still be buying TW2008 of course.

This game may be one of those that I play again and again, because of the pacing, and because of the variance in the backgrounds-- since you're always standing in a different place, you're going to see different perspectives of this gorgeous scenery. If the music is good, this could be a nice 'chill' game.

I can't get near my PS3 because my wife won't stop playing this game. It looks incredibly polished apart from some initial online instability. I think it is one of those titles that will be present in the top seller charts for quite some time.

you guys should check out the skirt physics for this game. There was a video of it a few days back. But there is clipping though
