Official Ratchet and Clank box art revealed
With the imminent release of Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction coming in the next couple months, Insomniac has released the final box art of their highly anticipated title. Sporting the now iconic image of a Ratchet looking out over the Metropolis level and a terrified Clank reacting to an attacking monster, it looks solid but is not really anything special. With almost all of their screenshots and hands-on demos being in the Metropolis level, it just seems a little played out. I mean, there are other parts to the game... right?

Mishi @ Aug 4th 2007 8:54PM
chirs, a lot of people play these, you should give them a try dude, they rock!
kingofwale @ Aug 4th 2007 9:05PM
Kiddie games? what would you call Nintendo games? Infant games?
it sells over 2 millions in its every iteration, it has a very good following crowd, and no, there's NOTHING kiddy about this game. It's cartoony, but that's no different than calling Family Guy a 'kiddie' show.
Jase @ Aug 4th 2007 9:31PM
It's a PLATFORM game, people. It's meant to be fun & if you seriously call this "kiddie" and restrict anyone over 18 to enjoy this, then you sir, are a close minded ignoranus.

@Chris:
The first console you ever bought/owned was during the last generation, wasn't it? Christ, I hate the Halo generation of gamers.
joey2joey @ Aug 4th 2007 11:08PM
Chris. Insomniac also made a game called resistence fall of man. go play that and leave us alone.
secret @ Aug 5th 2007 1:03AM
Chris's commment wasn't really that offensive to attack him like personally like that. Attacking his statement is okay. But going after his throat is cruel. He's just communicating his tastes (in a possibly vulgar way that's probably normal talk within his social group) for bloodier games that have a less cartoony art style.
Noone @ Aug 5th 2007 1:17AM
I wonder if Chris ever heard of that "kiddie" game called Conker's Bad Fur Day for N64?
Offensive @ Aug 5th 2007 3:29AM
@#7,
his comments were not that offensive???? what planet are you from dude? he's offending gays and people that enjoy this kind of game. I bet if he had used the N* word or something like that you would think differently.

This title will be selling many PS3's in Denmark (doh - and the rest of the world)
But the cover design sucks?
Burnt Meatloaf @ Aug 5th 2007 4:22AM
@Chris: It's kind of ironic that anyone would see the series as a kiddie game, given that the title thrives on the tag line, "BLOW $%*# UP!!!" Plus, the cut-scenes for previous games could hardly be considered tame in content.
There's no blood. So what? There is something to be said for self-censorship -- favoring cartoonish explosions and tons of robot parts flying in all directions -- because blood just wouldn't make the game more interesting.
As for the box art, I'm surprised they decided to hide Ratchet's face. Maybe Clank's exposure is an apology for practically dumping him in Deadlocked? :)

I LOVE THE BOX ART!!!! but i didn't know that this was an iconic thing... ratchet looking over metropolis and clank looking scared at a monster... but yeah, way to go! wonderful box art!!!
and chris, whoever you are, you are an idiot
Yaster @ Aug 5th 2007 6:29AM
I like the box art for this but I'm not getting too attached. They ALWAYS change the front cover for the European release as well as the title.
phattie @ Aug 5th 2007 8:50AM
This'll be a launch day purchase for me.
Blk_ball @ Aug 5th 2007 11:55AM
Watch the language people! As For the boxart, agree that it isn't anything special. However, I'm glad to see Clank getting some attention!!!
Andy @ Aug 5th 2007 9:12PM
I have to admit. That is the worst cover art yet. I compare it to Warhawk and they are not even on the same planet. (was that a pun?)
By the way this game is the best looking game I have seen on PS3.It looks so sharp. I never played Ratchet and Clank on PS2 or PSP so this will be a nice experience for me.
Solace @ Aug 6th 2007 1:52PM
uh, how can that be "final box art" when it has a "Rating Pending" ESRB logo on it....?
Darkdrium777 @ Aug 6th 2007 9:40PM
@17: Well the game's not finalized yet so the ESRB hasn't rated it yet. They can't say it's E10+ when it actually isn't. However this is the picture they'll use for the box (And I don't like it that much), so when the ESRB rates the game they'll go ahead and print the actual rating on it.
